Killing Joke's influence is pretty damn impressive. Post-Punk, New Wave, Goth, Industrial, Metal, Alternative, Grunge, etc.
They were one of those bands that really crossed boundaries and brought different people together.

Have to say, saw these guys back in 2014, best gig i've ever been to. My ears were ringing for at least a week afterwards, and i don't think any live set from another band will out do that one. It was otherworldly. When the interviewer mentions about the tribal elements of rhythm within Killing Joke, this is so true. Listening to their records is one thing, but seeing them play live and experiencing the sound they make, it's absolutely fucking insane -- there just isn't anyone else like them. I remember almost being in a trance like state (whilst completely sober) just taking it all in as they played. Personally, this band with it's music and lyrics, will be relevant for many many many years to come.

My friend introduced me to killing joke in the mid 80s - around the time of the Night Time album - I had heard the Love Like Blood single which I loved - We went to see the band play live at the Astoria near Tottenham Court Road Station ( Unfortunately got demolished for Crossrail ) - What I experienced was extraordinary - They had people blowing fire on stage - Jaz was painted like a demon and had the audience in his hands - It felt like a tribal dance - A communion of people in a war dance - A requiem for the follow the leader - I took a breather from the moshing on the dance floor and went up on the balcony to view the pandemonium from a different perspective - The played Pssyche - I looked down and everybody in audience was in a frenzied dance and thought oh my god this is unbelievable - One of the best gigs I've been to... Love that band.

Joke was/is total catharsis. I remember some of the early subteranea gigs in London where sometimes you'ld be worried turning up as security staff seemed to have an agenda in deliberately goding fans, setting the fans against one another in an apparent effort to ignite violence in order to discredit the band and fans alike. Their agenda seemingly was to suppress any perception/paranoid delusion 'they' may have had, of any rebellion in the ranks. What 'they' refused to accept was that none of us had signed up for or were going to sign up to any part of their Thatcherite greed and prejudism. We soon wised up to their agendas. There is a hypnotic catharsis to Joke that Tories appeared to hate, the fans were/are just humble humanists/environmentalists and we could never understand the unwanted attention. A lot of us were creative, interested in anthropology and involved with studying early forms of ethical issues and approaches in graphic art and media . .we were certainly more integral and intuitive than the egoist authorities that chose to subjugate us back then. Interestingly enough, the system only seems to be wising up now to what we all knew donkies years ago, I guess that's progress at least. The question is, what will they demonize next? A lot of the old fans are loving parents and grand parents now.

Jaz is right there. At 15 in 1979 , I never considered politics until Radio Victory In Portsmouth- with it’s royal naval Dockyards, had a thing about Nuclear Attack in which the guy said “ a piece of paper 25 miles away from Portsmouth would be ignited “ ! Living across the sea/ estuary usually made Portsmouth and The South New Forest unconnected but when measured direct at 22 miles , I suddenly became Very Terrified or Anxious and Anti Nuclear everything immediately. - and a CND supporter 🏴😎love from wessexshire

Probably the only band who have not sold out. I'm 62 years old now. First saw the band live in 1981. Pylon is probably my favourite album. They called out the Convid madness and everything what's happening way before it happened. Legends. RIP Geordie. He will be hard to replace if the band continues.

@GR8_S8N As a Christian Soldier I need not your permission to listen to one of the greatest bands. Furthermore, religion is BS and the Pope and Pat Robertson need to be horsewhipped. I don't trust in religion or any political party for my hope. If you knew who you're telling this to, you'd know I'm thee most anti herd person there is. This BAND could rely on me in a fight to have their back, GET IT.
I have not met them and may never have that honor, but I consider them friends. On the other hand, someone who gets in my face and tells me to find another band to listen to with find their tendons wrapped around their raisin sized nuts as I make them into a Mexican pinata to be beaten! Now go run along before you really piss me off.

It's what people do this day and age. Jaz has his own mindset, but it's definitely influenced by a lot of people. "Radical left?" Left, sure, but most certainly not radical.
