This is probably my most elaborate ROAST
I'm excited to share this finished project. I'm sorry for any inconsistencies, I worked on this project both drunk and crying. A heartfelt thank you to my friend @Demim0n for her support and contribution to coloring some frames.
This video serves as an emotional outlet for me, created in response to recent distressing events in my life. While I'll leave much of its interpretation to you (Yeah bruh I got cheated on lmfao), it does revolve around themes of infidelity and includes layers of symbolism for you to unravel. For example: I dare you to find out what the daisies represent.
I believe Sandstorm deserves better. It's disheartening to see Spottedleaf receiving blame while the fandom absolves Firestar of his actions. In this narrative, Cinderpelt and Spottedleaf stand by Sandstorm's side, confronting Firestar's inappropriate behavior. Other important women in his life also confront him because, let's face it, we need more accountability for male characters in this series.
Here is what this video means to me and might mean something else too:
-Daisies: a symbol of true love and loyalty (also my name on youtube hahah my self insert here are the flowers and the fire)
-Spottedleaf, Cinderpelt, Sandstorm: a symbol of youth, friendship and love. In this order.
-Firestar: the villain (and my ex hmmmmm)
-Yellowfang, Princess, Bluestar and Silverstream: important women in Firestar's life. They are all dead hence why they show up with Spottedleaf. They all represent responsability, family, motherhood and femininity.
For most of the video, Firestar tries to run away and deflect blame to others, but to no avail. He's avoiding confrotration and he doesn't want to lose neither his lover or his mistress. Towards the end he finally realizes what he has done when he sees his daughters and accepts that he made an unforgivable mistake.
***Explaining the scenes with Spottedleaf: Firestar keeps trying to win Spottedleaf over. She is unconfortable by it and tries to talk him into giving his mate more attention. She promises to be a friend and to look after his family but he won't stop simping. Despite having feelings for him, Spottedleaf confronts Firestar about his infidelity and stays by Sandstorm's side, being honest with her. So yeah, she is not willing to be the "other girl" and she's not a creep. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions but please stop attacking her in this video since she is my comfort character. This is MY interpretation of her from the books. (Honestly after all that i read Idk what to feel about her anymore)
About Cinderpelt: Yeah she has feelings for Firestar too and that's canon, but what I wanted to portray here was him losing the closest friend he has.

I finally worked the courage to comment on here. the fact is that this video hit pretty close to home. I know we are all supposed to relate to the protagonist, but I can't say that I haven't lived in this exact situation. Sandstorm might be the one burning their memories, their relationship, but Firestar is the one that set fire to her soul, to her heart. If you watch closely, you'll see that he doesn't utter a single word in the video. There are some mistakes you literally can't talk yourself out of it. You can't charm them to stay. Even if you do so, you can not simply glue back the pieces together and hope that the person is going to be the same again. I had this girl, and she had me, and together we had the world, that until I f* up. She was my everything, my first love, and I know I meant the world to her too, I saw the way she kept every gift and note, and the way she looked at me. I also saw the tears she shed, the pain I inflicted on her. I shouldn't have dreamt of another soul that wasn't her, but I did, and she swept me off my feet. I know the world was against us from the beginning, but at some point, I know I was the bigger issue. Historians might not know how Elisa reacted, but thanks to you, Marquarida, I'm pretty sure how she did, how my once girl did. Very few people have the talent, and even fewer have the dedication to translate what someone in that position felt. Even though they are cats, I could see the despair of a lost soul on sandstorm's eyes, a kind of pain that I've only ever seen on the prettiest pair of eyes I've ever came across. I wish I could look into them and beg her to forgive me, maybe I can. I just want to tank you, bc you are a rare kind of person, the kind that's strong enough to be venerable, to feel, and to create.
P.S. This is by far the smoothest PVM I've ever seen, and I know no one could have pulled this off if not you.

Man own up to the fact you had the perfect girl and you couldnt keep it in your pants and lusted after another. You fucked up, you dont get to talk about her like that as if you cared so much about her. You never cared for her, you only wanted to get your d!ck wet, and its pathetic. The way I see it, the only reason you should have to be possibly feeling like that with another person, when you yourself are taken, is when youre being abused by your partner and literally cant leave because they say theyll kill themselves, but then they have no problem lusting after others while still demanding your company. even when they know you truly dont want to be with them anymore. But thats not what happened. Your EX, not your "once girl" was not abusing you, she was not demanding your company and threatening to off herself while she slept around and bragged about it to you. You were not fighting every day while being called the abusive one, you were not struggling in any way, and you were probably not a confused 16 year old, you were probably an adult. You were not romantically confused from years of psychological, physical, and sexual abuse that left you with no ability to escape coercion and the other gender walking all over you.
The fact is, you had something perfect and you willingly destroyed it. Do not pity yourself. Do not ache when you got exwctly what you wanted. You never loved your ex. If you arent ok with monogamy, thats something you bring up when youre first involved, do literally anything to try to work things out before going behind their back. You could have talked.
This shit has me fuming the way youre pitying yourself and trying to get sympathy....

I love how spottedleaf seems uncomfortable through the whole thing, like she didn't want to be "the other girl" but was somehow convinced to- and then come clean revealing it to sandstorm at the "He's part of some scheme" part. It really deepens on how Firestar held the most responsability about it
I never got why it was presented to be a hard choice for Firestar to pick between Spottedleaf, his old childhood crush and Sandstorm, his mate and the mother of his children
Like why did they write it like that? Seriously, if you take every other part of Firestar's character into account, that doesn't make sense at all.
Should've been written that once Spottedleaf gave him the life of love, he comes to acknowledge what they could've had, but that she's dead and a childhood crush. His now is Sandstorm

I don't hate Firestar by any means but Firestar's Quest was a pain to get through when he was thinking things like "Spottedleaf can be special to me too." or when him and Spottedleaf were talking about how they wished things could be different right behind his wife's back.
Sandstorm and Spottedleaf are some of my favorite cats in the series and I only wish Sandstorm could be happy in her relationship without worrying about her husband still loving a childhood crush and that the fandom would give Firestar even half the blame they thrust on Spottedleaf.

Idk i see Spottedfire as a little problematic. She didn't persue him per say when he was an apprentice but she did have a crush on him when he was still a kiddo and then showed up in his dreams an unhealthy ammount after dying so it could be some sort of traumatic response on Firestar's side, not to justify him lowkey cheating on his wife. I just feel like if genders were switched here people would give so much more shit to Spottedleaf (before anyone brings up Ferncloud and Dustpelt it was majorly f-ed up and i do not condone it either). Also it would make sense as in some sort of cycle of abuse way. I feel like Spottedleaf deserves this half of the blame people put on her, while cheating on your partner is 100% a you fault, being "the other girl" while KNOWING the other person is dating is arguably equally as shitty to me

Not gonna debate or anything because the creator specifically said not to argue and I don't wanna tread too close to that line especially since this is a personal vent for the creator. But I just kinda wanted to talk about how that stuff hurt Sandstorm and sometimes the warriors fandom will put an unhealthy amount of blame on "the other girl" rather than ALSO blaming the man too not that Firestar deserves more blame than Spottedleaf.

It's so fucked that Spottedleaf has to die twice because Firestar was about to chose her over his literal wife and childhood friend in StarClan. Firestar wanting to be Spottedleaf while also be in a relationship with Sandstorm always made me so uncomfortable. Also I appreciate how you showed Spottedleaf being uncomfortable with Firestar constantly thinking of her.
I always imagined Spottedleaf not being okey with this and wanting Firestar to move on but he's so insistent to be with her over someone who's been there for him since day one. Thank you for doing Sandstorm some justice

Daisies are usually a sign of love, but they also stand for the topic of beauty and remaining loyal, which is somewhat ironic due to Firestar’s actions. It seems like he was searching for just a pretty she cat to be at his side, and Cinderpelt destroying those flowers and catching aflame could symbolize that his love truly meant nothing. And that Sandstorm is much stronger without him

I love how you allowed Cinder and Spotted to be attracted to him but still standing by Sandstorm. It's one thing to have feelings for a person and it's another to cheat. Consent and honesty among all parties is what's key, if your monogamous then stay loyal or break it off, if poly make sure all parties are aware and consent. No matter what you should never betray a partner.
Okay before I say anything else, I just want to mention that I love the part at 2:38 where a bunch of important (or at least notable) women in Firestar's life come in and confront him about how unfair he's been to his own wife. All four of them have given things up in their lives, whether it was for themselves or for the betterment of others
(Yellowfang gave up her position as a warrior and any chance of having a happy family, Princess gave up her son so he could live a better life and her brother might not feel so alone, Bluestar gave up her children and her love so she could make sure her clan was safe, and Silverstream gave up her safety and ultimately her life so she could say goodbye to her love and her children could know their father)
I feel like all four of them would feel insulted in one way or another by how little Firestar seems to value the things he has, and how he instead desperately clings on to something long gone. I'm sure that all of this wasn't really how that part was meant to be interpreted, but I thought it was interesting
As much as I love Firestar and FireSand, the way he holds on to Spottedleaf after years of her being dead was pretty awful. The whole thing was just irritating, like Sandstorm would be two feet away and Firestar would be thinking about his childhood crush or Spottedleaf would come down and be like "I still love you" GUYS PLEASE STOP TALKING BEHIND SAND'S BACK IM BEGGING YOU
I don't like Spottedleaf or SpottedFire, but I do like how she's portrayed here-instead of coming off as creepy like the books, she seems a lot more unsure and hesitant towards the whole thing.
Overall, you did a good job, and I hope that you're able to heal from the incident that influenced this
THIS IS PERFECT. I LOVE YOUR INTERPRETATION AND ITS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING AAA. Yes, each one of them means something in this video, but all of them together mean sacrifice. To your argument, I would just like to add that they all confront Firestar about his children because they are all mothers who gave something up for their kits. They are also the most important women in Firestar's life, which make it even more disappointing. The four of them are almost like family to Firestar. Because of that, they understand this side of Sandstorm's pain better than Spottedleaf and Cinderpelt, so I thought it would be more impactful for them to be the ones holding him accountable.
Unexpectedlg, my favorite part was at the end when legacy comes up in the lyrics. Adding all these she-cats from the days of Fireheart (so before he became leader) telling him that his legacy isnt theirs is something I feel is so impactful, especially seeing ThunderClan today. The way they handle Firestar's Legacy is nearly equivalent to revearing him like a god, and [SPOILER WARNING FOR LATEST ARC] I stand by Nightheart in that these cats are more than just Firestar's kin/legacy
Honestly, it always made me comfortable that Firestar still had feelings for Spottedleaf even though she was dead, she had a father and daughters. I love that Spottedleaf is by Sandstorm's side. I also loved it when I saw that Leafpaw/pool and Squirrelpaw/flight support their mother, they deserve a better father in my opinion and Sandstorm a better couple.

(2:41) I really love how Princess is the one to say this line. She is motherly and would have been a queen if she joined the clans for sure. She has a lot of kids of her own, and as Firestar’s sister, *she* *would* be the one to ask Fire how would he explain his treatment of Sand to his daughters.

This is unironically the most beautiful thing I’ve see all week. I love the characters expressions, you can see every single emotion in their faces and body language.
Sandstorm’s blind rage. Cinderpelt’s disappointed fury. Spottedleaf’s blatant discomfort turned pure hatred. Squirrelpaw and Leafpaw’s sadness and disappointment turned anger at their dad. Bluestar, Yellowfang, Silverstream, and Princess’s utter contempt and disappointment, all yelling at a cat they once genuinely loved and cared for, all because he was an idiot who was choosing a cat who didn’t even like him, over his wife and children.
This is coming from a firestar fan. But I couldn’t shake off of how he sometimes treated squirrelflight and leafpool compared to cloudtail or brambleclaw. I just felt like sometimes he would choose brambleclaw in a situation between him and squirrel or he would just assume leafpool to just be a medicine cat and there was little to no interactions with them when they got older. Maybe it had to do with how they just wrote character development in the laters arch’s, (basically just worst than the first) but I did not feel that fatherly love that firestar had when he mentored the two toms. I don’t know I haven’t read the books in a while but I just thought of this hunch. Am I wrong in feeling this way?
Brambleclaw im personally ok with in this case because it helps make clear that Firestar has gotten over his fear of brambleclaw becoming TigerStar the sequel (which ended up becoming Hawkfrost’s title)
I LOVE SANDSTORM! she’s is my comfort character because I have been overshadowed so many times I relate to her in every way thank you so much for making more content of her!

Oof. This one hurts, but in a good way.
It really sucks because we're clearly not supposed to see Firestar as someone who's cheating on his wife, just someone who will always remember his first love, but the way it's written and the way it's presented makes him out to be the kind of person who'd leave the mother of his daughters and his lifelong companion for some older woman who was his friend for a few months. They want him to be sympathetic, if not noble, for continuing to pursue dead Spottedleaf, but it leaves Sandstorm looking like an afterthought and someone who can be disposed of once Firestar can hook up with a ghost.
Sandstorm deserves better.
GORGEOUS! I really love the concept, I’ve never seen anything like it actually, people always portray Firestar to be this innocent cat that can do nothing wrong, it’s really refreshing to see him in a new light.

I really didn't like how they wrote this section in the books. Like, it really should've been written better. Spottedleaf shouldn't have seemed to harbor romantic feelings for an apprentice she saw grow up, and they shouldn't have had the Sand/Fire/Spotted triangle

If these books were ever to be rewritten, i feel that the triangle should just be straight up removed. Firestar acknowledges Spottedleaf is dead and that she was just a childhood crush, but Sandstorm is his mate, the mother of his children and has always been there for him.
It's something I really hate about the Erins, how I feel they always have one aspect of a character they completely screw up, or just slowly change a character to be unrecognizable

Also this is so well done and i love how it does acknowledge canon, it should've done better but that isn't the case. Especially the part with Yellowfang, Bluestar, Princess and Silverstream crossing in front just before Sandstorm is so well done and I love that
fuck the people who invalidated your feelings and refused to note what the VENT part of the title was before it was gone. SERIOUSLY- WTF WARRIOR CATS FANDOM. Also Having this on repeat makes me go back to my own Warrior Cats AU where I doddle on things of my own life into the AU- and how I was cheated on and groomed by one of my ex's too. This song fits perfectly with the story, and in turn the visuals you have are almost in sync with my own version- ex the flowers being burnt as the cat who represented my ex would give catnip to the she-cats he would target. Only due to the significance of my protagonist being reborn as the phoenix star, they turn into fire and burn the catnip themselves, and lend their power to the others. Either way, this has become an outlet for me too and I wish you the best with your recovery.
Also. . . I wish this happened to Fireheart instead of his leader ceremony, and from now on I will refer to him as Fireheart or Fireshit.

Fireheart definitely was a player in the beginning. He messed with feelings, however I feel that he really tried to prove his loyalty in his super addition. Eventually, I believe he saw what his mistake was and made an effort to fix it. That doesn’t excuse his actions though,
Daisies are also a symbol of innocence, which could be related to how Firestar took the innocence of those around him and exploited it by cheating, specifically on Sandstorm. I love the concept of Spottedleaf actually having respect for Sandstorm and feeling bad about her "relationship" wtih Firestar.

this is absolutely beautiful and stunning, and every single frame contributed to the emotions you were trying to portray. i can almost Feel what these cats are feeling, the emotions are drawn so perfectly !

Honestly, my opinion on this PMV is a bit split, like I agree and disagree with it. Don't get me wrong, I like how everything is portrayed here, and I completely understand why Firestar has to deal with this because of him unable to get over Spottedleaf, but I feel as though the Erins made Firestar and Sandstorm's relationship a bit rushed.
Sandstorm first teased and bullied Firestar when they were apprentices, and didn't stop even after he was made a warrior. And yes, I can understand this through both their perspectives, so please don't spark arguments. And I feel as though Sandstorm was too quick to change her opinion on Firestar, and I feel as though he was too quick to trust her. I'm not going to explain why I think this, because it was a personal struggle of friendship, and it'll take too long to explain.
Anyways.. in The Darkest Hour, Spottedleaf herself approved of Firestar's relationship with Sandstorm, which made it easier for him to move on. But I feel as though Firestar's Quest completely shattered this closure we had on their relationship. For one thing, how did Sandstorm know that Firestar still loved Spottedleaf before they even became mates? When Spottedleaf first came to Firestar, Sandstorm was either still and apprentice, or barely made a warrior. There's not way she could've known about that. And second, why would she automatically assume that? Firestar had never once told her about his crush on Spottedleaf, which had it's closure in The Darkest Hour.
Also, why would Spottedleaf even wish that things could be different with Firestar, even after she told him that he should use the life she gave him for Sandstorm? I mean really.. if she told him to move on from her to be with Sandstorm, why did she secretly whisper in Firestar's ear that she wishes things could be different?
Okay, I apologize if this offends some fans. Really, I'm sorry, but I just feel as if I need to get this off my chest. Like I said, I completely understand Sandstorm's perspective in this PMV, and she's one of my most liked characters. I have no hate against her, Firestar, Spottedleaf, or any of the other characters shown here. What I hate is the Super Edition, Firestar's Quest, and how it seems to be contradicting what The Darkest Hour already told us about Firestar;s relationship with Sandstorm.
Sorry if I offended anyone, that wasn't my intention. I respect everone's opinions about the PMV and the relationship in general, and I bear no hate to this video, it's an excellent portrayal of what's been going on in the books.
Honestly, i feel bad for sandstorm. She should NOT worry about her mate having to choose a cat he barley knows over her, who he knew for MOST OF HIS DAMN LIFE. not to mention, had his kits. All because firestar wanted that spottedleaf ass.

This is really good! And yeah i never understood the huge hate towards spottedleaf, most of the arguments i see about her are around "spottedleafs honest answer" which isn't an offically published book so it's a little iffy if its truly canon. Honestly when i found it online as a kid i genuinely thought it was someones fanfic until i found out it was written by one of the authors. ( No hate to the author but its just not my favourite piece of work)
I can’t find anything that Firestar did in the books to be deserving of a response like this in any way, BUT!!! I love your content and this video is still amazingly made!
The way that the books came off to me personally was that Firestar only had room for Spottedleaf in his heart and not Sandstorm, and still clung to her spirit long after she died and after he had become mates with Sandstorm and had kits. I feel like it was an aspect of his character that was written poorly as I feel like they could have leaned into his infidelity and give Sandstorm the realization that Firestar is not a healthy mate for her and she could have truly grown more as a cat.
That is just my opinion tho! You can absolutely bring up your own views about his character
@@Mothcat. ik that's not what authors intended but i think Spottedleaf is kinda creepy considering she watched him grow up and still got a crush, especially considering he became a warrior earlier. This could be a traumatic response for Fireheart. Also i find it wierd that Cinderpelt of all people is mad as if him rejecting the advances of somebody who's essentially his daughter is wierd. I get that it can be read a different way but idk. I find people screaming at a grooming victim, including the groomer amongst the one screaming uncomfortable.

Also, i think the spottedleaf here ins't the one that's creepy, you can see the creator linked a video where it says spottedleaf's feelings for fireheart was probably retconned by the erins, and the creator probably wanted to make an video exploring this pre-retcon spottedleaf instead of the creepy groomer one, so i'm sure she didn't groom him on the narrative of this video nor she had romantic feelings for him.

Spottedleaf wasnt much of a character outside of Firestars perspective and her own book. Even if it's unintentional, this would make sense as in cycle of abuse way. While Erins arent the best writers TM we shouldn't baby them or talk about it in such condensing manner. You can call it bad writing but canon is canon. Also we have our biases based on life experiences so our readings of what happened might be vastly different. Once again i like the video but i felt a little uncomfortable with it considering everything stated above. Your perspective is perfectly valid as well and i think Firestar sorta cheating on his mate is a huge L in his characterisation. It's just that for me some moments here gave the same vibes of Leafpool's trial.

honestly i really don’t like spottedleaf for stalking firestar in his dreams and everything. while this could be argued upon, she played a part in this and chose to visit basically a married man in his dreams and flirt with him. it could have seriously been any other cat, bluestar and yellowfang would be perfect for the role of guiding firestar. him and spottedleaf seriously got no development before she died anyway, there wasn’t really any reason for them to be close. i don’t think that this isn’t firestars fault; it would have been extremely easy to merely stop it with the flirtatious actions. but spottedleaf could have easily done the same. thanks for hearing my opinion - amazing pmv, butter smooth and packed with messages!!! wonderful!!

ive personally never saw Firestar as trying to play sides and i thought he did, eventually, move on from Spottedleaf and truly loved Sandstorm. buuuuut then again i havent read Warriors in years, so a reread may be in order. it's amazing to see the Warriors fandom still going strong (even after, supposedly, the later sequel series by the Erins have fallen short in some fans' eyes), but ive noticed now all of sudden ppl are saying most of the males in the series are absolute trash and/or abusive, the she-cats never get the spotlight they should despite the series being written by women, and stuff along those lines.

Your designs are also very nice and combined with the anime-like style the result is very nostalgic. If it weren't for all the advanced composition, symbolism, etc. this video would feel like it came straight out of 2014.

I feel like in the first arc it was treated as such, but in the later books Spottedleaf gets a personality change and is suddenly interested in Firestar??? Like, huh? Anyways, Sandstorm is one of favorite characters and deserved better from the Erins

''First Burn'' is passionate and angry. The ''Let future historians wonder how Eliza reacted when you broke her heart'' part is absolutely gut wrenching. Powerful. Especially "You have thrown it all away.'' and ''You have torn it all apart...I'm watching it burn.'' respectively. ''You have thrown it all away'' is said in the most utmost anger. And that's what Firestar did. He threw away all those years together with Sandstorm for the cat, who never loved him back and a cat who was nothing more than a teacher crush. ''You have torn it all apart. I'm watching it burn'' could refer to Sandstorm's (and perhaps the creator of this PMV) heart. Especially how in ''Burn'', no one is really confronting Fireheart, beside Sandstorm herself. She stands alone. In shambles. Heartbroken. Betrayed.

This pmv always broke my heart but after a while I now relate to this too. I too was cheated on and only learned about it right before our anniversary. I also really love the updated thumbnail your work is beautiful. This captures the pain of cheating and what u hv gone through so well I hope u have healed and you are doing so much better now. Honestly I don’t get how or why people cheat. Just break up with the person and spare them that pain of betrayal. I really love your work it’s always usually on my feed. It captures emotions so well.

Really beautiful video! It hits the nail on so many vivid emotions and really brings you into Sandstorm's perspective. I also appreciate how you don't portray Spottedleaf as a villain or even partially in the wrong here. I know in the books, she's portrayed kinda icky in the way she's written to be coming onto Firestar, but I believe that's more a result of really desperate and bad writing instead of a genuine character flaw. I also hate how everyone equates her behavior to Thistleclaw's grooming, as it feels really disrespectful to her as a victim. The first series concluded with her as a spiritual guide and friend to Firestar (in spite of his simping) who encouraged him to find love with Sand. And even before that, she never conveyed any romantic feelings towards a young Firepaw. The whole romance drama was nothing more but a retcon made at her expense in the end, and it's incredibly frustrating to see other great artists go along with this regressive view of the "victim turned abuser" sentiment when it comes to Spotted.
That slap at the end was so satisfying
