I love the analogy about the follow-through punch. It is very accurate in terms of martial arts and really makes sense in terms of karting and being pushed out from the corner.

Honestly, those type of passes where you force somone wide is very common at the higher level of racing and quite honestly expected. When you start to race where the whole field is really tight, if you don’t do that, then you won’t make the pass and will most likely get passed with the worse momentum through the corner than the drivers behind you. So I completely see why someone would do that. It’s something that most club level racers wouldnt be used to, but the more competitive the driving, usually the more aggressive/dirty it gets.

That’s a great and fair point, if they thought it was unsafe truly should’ve required a black flag

It's dumb what happened with the neck brace but it's a great cautionary tale, track officials arent always gonna catch that stuff in time and it might end up screwing YOU over later.
Edit: I'd say this is actually the most informative walkthrough you've made, I feel like drivers of any level really get something out of this.

Part of what I’m seeing with you steamrolling up (and eventually passing) Searle on up uphill sweeping right was his line. He was using far too much track. You were demonstrating that the kart had plenty of grip and lack of tire scrub to hold the tighter and shorter arc. Most laps the centerline of your kart was falling in line with his right rear going into the corner. I don’t think he necessarily meant to let you pass. It seems he didn’t realize how much you were gaining there

“What are you doing there, that’s a rookie mistake” no just messing with you. You had the right idea...I would of done the same thing just needed to execute it a little better. You gave up a little to much on the crossover to the switchback and didn’t have enough of a pitch angle with the kart to give you a straighter drive off which would off given you enough speed to pull along side. Plus the less traveled distance of you being on the inside would of helped a lot.

100% agree with you on the black flag! Why they let you continue to race with you being a safety and liability issue is beyond me!

@8:12 are radios allowed in this series?

No, Alexander just has the radio hookup since he’s done some car stuff.
