    thank you for the video. I just changed out a torn thermostat for a Blue Star stove top griddle. Not 100% the same, but close enough. This video showed me where to look for all the screws and how to go about accessing the control board.

    I replaced my thermostat with this one. It is not accurate. The temperature is about 150 degrees off, is the small adjustment pot on the front of the thermostat there to dial in an accurate value?. I did use the correct colored jumper for my model of oven (brown for large oven).

    Thanks i appreciate the video, but my model doesn't have the long thermostat bulb. Mine is shorter stubby one that is on a square bracket screwed into the back inside of the stove... Any suggestions? Also my model had the newer digital thermostat already, so do you think it could just be the sensor that may be bad? It seems to be at least 50 degrees cooler than it should be.

    Will this thermostat work on a 36’ Platinum?

    Just changed my t-stat on my Bluestar 30” platinum. The back panel is removable giving you access to route your capillary tube for the t-stat. Pulls out very easy.

    Thank you so much for this video. Thanksgiving is 3 days away, and the metal shaft connecting the thermostat to the knob on my Bluestar range just completely sheared off. Nobody could even look at it before the holiday, and I know from experience that it takes weeks for the local dealer and repair shops to get Bluestar parts. Thanks to your video, I was able to remove the front panel myself, get the correct part number for my model (which was NOT listed in the owner's manual), and order a new thermostat online. Fingers crossed that UPS 2-day air gets the new thermostat to my house in time to bake the turkey!

    Help! No power is going to oven igniter, so I replaced thermostat (following your great instructions in this video) but still no power to igniter. The broiler works but not the baking oven. So maybe it is the wiring between the t-stat and igniter? Any suggestions on what else to check before calling in a professional repairman?

      This sounds exactly like the issue I think I'm experiencing, too. It happened before and removing the bottom panel moved the wire and it worked again so we just literally taped it in the position it was in. (I know that wasn't necessarily the safest fix.) Now the wire-jiggle isn't working. If you figured it out a way to fix this without a service visit, I'd really love to hear about it! Thanks for any info!

      @@DeniseSpeechCoach issue turned out to be the gas regulator. The solenoid was bad. Wound up having a pro fix it unfortunately.

      @@PhillipLoosli Thanks so much for sharing that! I just got in touch with a repair pro and I'll share that possibility, too. If I can save him some diagnostic time, it might save me just a few bucks! Thanks again!

    Do you have any suggestions or techniques on removing the drip tray drawer. We have a 30" Blue Star and cannot figure out how to remove it and therefore we cannot access the screws on the bottom of the panel under the knobs. The drawer extends most of the way but I do not see a release or catch to remove the drawer completely. In your video above the drip tray drawer was previously removed. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Scott. Your video glosses over the splicing of the white wire. How do you do that and what do you use to connect the spliced neutral wire to the thermostat?

    Last month I followed your instructions replacing my thermostat and new knob for the oven from blue star. Today i can't get my oven to heat to temperature after trying several times and the knob is almost impossible to turn. I took the knob off and it looks like it's almost stripped. Could I have gotten a faulty part ?? I plan on calling Blue star tomorrow.

      Could be,
      Or the stem coming out of the thermostat is pressing against the edge of the hole it goes through.

    Scott, I have a bluestar with convection oven. It will ignite, gas will turn on and ignite but then stay lit for only about 4 seconds the ingniter will shut off as will the gas. Wait about a minute untouched and it will attempt to relight which it will. Run for about 5 seconds then shut off. I am stumped (truning temperature knob has not effect) it will only light twice and then will not light again unless i go to off and turn on which begin the same cycle.

    Hey Scott. Thanks so much for making this video. I have watched it over and over. Thank you so much for making it. I received a replacement for the 702901 from bluestar, which turns out to be the model you are using which I believe is 799487. One problem is that what they sent me doesn't have the conveniently color coded jumpers that you had in your video NOR the probe with the pin style connector. Can you recommend a source for those parts. Yes I can call BlueStar but I have pretty much had it with their parts department level of assistance. This is now the third thermostat in a year. Any help would be appreciated.

    Scott.
    I ordered the new thermostat and will install it when it comes. There is on other piece of info I want to run by you. When the oven does not come back on, if I turn on one of the gas burners the oven will then fire up. At first I thought it was the duel valve so I replaced it but it still does it. This is a propane gas stove and oven. I’m wondering if the gas pressure may be set to low. Your thought or ideas may help!

      @@charlesasker8335 I have the EXACT same thing happening with my Blue star oven. When I turn on top burners the gas in the oven kicks on. Mine is natural gas not propane though. I paid way too much money for a tech to come out to diagnose and he said I needed new igniter and thermostat. I am hoping to replace both myself and save some money. Did you do this and did it fix the issue? Also what thermostat did you order? Thanks!

    I just replaced my Bluestar oven thermostat with the new model of the analog version (CSK-1000039). The replacement seemed to go fine, but now the front panel and all of the knobs become extremely hot when I use the oven. I ran the wire in the exact same manner as the original was run. Any idea what the issue might be? Thanks.

    My one question is mine has 2 red wires ( one with 2 red and a single), on the old switch analog say "c" it loops back into doubled up red wire? I assume this is a a common wire?

  • @marvinak3035
    @marvinak3035 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello. So just confirm. There are 2 wires on the new electric thermostat. Do you simply take a branch run from the white/black wire that is connected to the LIGHT INDICATOR? Essentially having 3 wires merge rather than the 2 previously. I find when I do this that the light indicator flashed on and off on a repeated pattern of 2 flashes on then off, and oven does not turn on. One caveat,....my new thermistatbdis not come with a jumper harness. I called bluestar and told them this and they told me that the RCS 30 does not need a jumper. Not sure if this coukd also be the problem. Thank you

    Scott, you are my last hope. I have a blue star free standing range. Once the oven comes up to temp and the gas turns off, as the oven then cools it does not relight to get back up to temp. I have replaced the duel valve and the igniter. Blue star in no help. Any ideas?

    Scott, so you're saying that my current analog/mechanical thermostat in my Big Chill Range (Which is a Blue Star internally) can be replaced by an electronic thermostat? The thermostat you showed replacing looks just like mine that I had replaced for the 3rd time yesterday is still not getting to the set temp! Help?

    • @ScottTheFixItGuyChannel
      @ScottTheFixItGuyChannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow Karen, that’s really strange.
      I wonder if it’s just the wrong thermostat for your oven.
      I would just double check the model number and see which one is recommended for your model.
      How many degrees off is the actual temperature as compared to what’s being called for?

    • @karendorsett5433
      @karendorsett5433 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I doubt it’s the wrong thermostat since it was sent directly from blue star, but worth a look. The temp is off by 50-53* (low). In the past it’s been either high or low, we call this stove Julia and she’s hormonal. Never know what you’re gonna get! At Christmas she ran so hot that my temperature gauge inside the oven broke and the sides of my cabinets melted! Hence the need for a new thermostat. Blue Star agreed to replace all parts at their cost, igniter, gas tube, convection fan. I happened to have the thermostat because when I originally purchased the range in late 2014, I had many issues with the temp not staying consistent. They replaced the thermostat 2 times and gave me an extra “just in case”. Well, that’s the one we used this past week. I did just find out via your TH-cam and another BS rep that they have gone to electronic thermostats as of 2018 instead of what I have, mechanical or analog. I’m trying to find out if my range is compatible with changing it to an electronic device. My range is actually a Big Chill Retro Series 36”, but the internals are all Blue Star.
