I perceived this show to represent Porterville on an interpersonal level of Rick's identity. Growing up in Porterville he likely felt confined to the expectations perpetuated both by general society as well as the specifics around him. I specifically observed this in the large inflatable boots, representing likely a factor of being weighed down, or held down by some sort of abundant and noticeable force. The beautiful piece, the puffer jacket, has the features of a wall like neck and a very concealing view, as well as the cage-like headpiece appearing on some of the models to represent a caged aspect of his identity, morphed into a destructive amalgamation of pieces. Amazing show. Amazing song choice as well.

He’s a clever man and a creative one but could he bring a new aesthetic of love, an arena of love and joy…. Then it would be a wonder to behold his collections. I think Basquiat is brilliant as well but his soul doesn’t seem to express brutality( to me) maybe angst and other emotions but not cold, hard, unfeeling emotions. And I love his colours, they’re a joy and his uninhibited expression of art is genius. Call me square but I think if you have a genius you have a duty to use that genius to uplift humanity, not use your genius to drag humanity down. We have enough to deal with in the world, and more than ever we need more light, not darkness, there’s plenty of that, would you agree?
All my Rick Owens parts (mainline) are of ridiculously poor quality. Maybe it used to be different - I only started collecting properly a year ago but you certainly can't talk about sustainability here. It is very sad - I love his vision but the quality is unacceptable (at least from my experience with the brand).
