Spring Home Tour - Spring & Easter Decorating - Historic 1898 Home Tour

- Spring is finally here! Follow me around our 1898 home as I show not only spring & Easter décor, but also new changes around the house including redecorated rooms, fun vintage decoration finds, & new paint colors! With some subscriber's questions in mind, I made sure to show a few things up close including a couple of my dish sets. I try to get this video out to all of you before Easter, and because of this, my spring bulbs outside are just sprouting so I decided to wait and share a separate video later showing the spring changes outdoors :)

Hi Chris, I also have one of the green plates, the one with the 2 rabbits on it that you mentioned that you got at Goodwill. Love the depression glass too in the green, very cheerful. I like the color that you painted the dining room, I want a similar color in my living room and bathroom.

Christopher, the color palate you chose for your rooms is stunning. They look so perfect with the woodwork in each of the rooms. Loving the blue color especially. Thank you for the history of the green dishes. I actually thought they were an antique (vintage) set that I was not familiar with. Presentation is everything. So in that beautiful cabinet I thought they were maybe from long long ago. Those and the green depression glass show well in your home. Thank you for the tour. Everything is beautiful, as always.

Thank you Leslie! I've noticed some pieces of the green cabbage dishes in the background of "The Golden Girls" episodes (which was running in the mid 80's) so this style of dishes has been around for a little while at least :)

What a totally enjoyable tour.....your vision and attention to detail is paying off as you finish the rooms....great color choices......I too like green colorings...someday you will have tons in your collection....what great stories about Portugal .....so many fun designs! Your rabbits remind me of my first bunny at age 6.....they are great pets.....
I am Portuguese and one or more of the green dishes are from "Bordallo Pinheiro". This was a great sculptor, artist, cartoonist of the 19th century and early 20th century. Named Rafael Bordallo Pinheiro, he was famous for the porcelain and clay pieces he imagined, some of which are worth thousands today. He was a multifaceted man, draftsman, painter, illustrator, decorator, political and social cartoonist, journalist, ceramist and teacher. The factory that continues to produce reproductions of its pieces and create new ones, is located in the city of Caldas da Rainha.

Bardallo Pinhiero is the famous Portuguese artist who designed your beautiful green dish. Very collectible and expensive now a days! House looks great and I like the color of the rooms!
I love color!!!! So refreshing to see no gray. The colors always male antiques stand out. I am much older than you and ha e been collecting antiques for about 30years. You have really done a nice job in making the fabrics way more cohesive with the rooms. Antiques are always better against color in my opinion. Plus, it really enhanced your old home. Love that bathroom floor. Aren’t those awesome? I have a claw foot tub in black and white marble woven flooring and 6 x 12 marble partly the way up the wall. It’s stunning and has a vintage feel.
You cannot go wrong with black and white with the claw foot tub. So classic. Love that you pay attention to detail. That will serve you well in the end. I feel when company comes over, they should catch a glimpse of the rooms beyond and can’t wait to venture off and look. You created that.

I too am a collector of the green majolica dishes. I am from Portugal and have visited the factory of Bordalo Pinheiro in Caldas da Rainha. This brand is well sought after and the most valuable. I purchase a few of my pieces direct from the factory in 1993 when I had a condo in Portugal with a green/white kitchen. Love your home decor and beautiful collection of antiques!,

Those cabbage leaves dishes are very typical of Portugal. In the past, most Portuguese households would have at least a piece of that green porcelain.
