    Five months after ordering it, my 6 x 10 cargo trailer arrived. Using info I picked up from your videos, I decided to have the manufacturer insulate, wire, install windows, install a venting system, and finish the ceiling. My planned minimalistic interior build-out I’ll do. I’m pulling it with my RAV4 Hybrid so I have to keep the total weight around 1700 pound or less, but I get to use my tow vehicle as my bedroom. The heat and a/c run off the hybrid battery, then as needed, the gas engine cycles on and off to keep it charged. I removed the back seat and installed a 2000 watt pure sine inverter, then designed & had built an all aluminum bed frame. I topped that with a full size pure latex mattress and we’re doing the most comfortable camping of our life! Thanks for all your tips & uploads!

      Wow Doug! You've brought up things that aren't too well known about using a hybrid, having ac and a large power source to go with it. Very nice and it sounds to me like you'll be traveling in style.

    There are a LOT of people in rural AZ who do not have running water, also many who have water not so good to drink. Being able to access good drinking water is critical. The problem is so significant in AZ that the state officially allows water trailers to be legally operated without any sort of license plate.
    So many beautiful places in the AZ mountains. Sad that so much of it is being marred by fire.
    The tarantulas are really kinda cool. We would see migrations like what you described across roads. Hard to avoid running them over.
    That dust, when it gets wet, is the most incredibly sticky, slippery mud you can imagine. Like grease on glass.

    • @gonagain

    Hello Rick and Linda. Once Again, Nice Nice and NICE Footage. I Love AZ. and actually spend More time here than any other place. The locations you shared are So Soothing. I love the Aroma the of the Forest. Also, that Fantastic Sound of the wind blowing through the tall trees. Thank You for the Info on the 'paths less traveled' with this video. About ten years back, I lived in Prescott almost a half year. Absolutely Wonderful. But it was kinda hard in the winter months. Prescott is actually 2-Feet Higher than Denver. (think Mon tana) Either way Az. Has it All. I Can't get Enough of 'The Arid Zone'. God Bless. Be Safe. ✌ (it Rained in So.Ut., No.Az. for the last Two Nights. Almost Hard to Believe) 🥴⚡☔

      @@gonagain Hi Rick. Ya, I have to add that Prescott has such a unique flavor. Lots of Money People, and a Large Low-End (Prescott Valley, Chino Valley, Paulden) but even now places are getting cleaned up. 'Jerome' is a Cool little town somewhat near Sedona, but it has its own Special History. I Really liked the locations you shared in your video. More & more places to explore.👌 BTW, after complaining about my mini AC's, they gave a 30% Rebate, plus they have been shipped & should arrive tomorrow. That Means, I'll be 'Out On the Canyon' in a matter of weeks. Very Excited about that. Say hello to linda for me. THX 🌝

    hello rick and linda, i little word or the wise, if you can place your solar panels om top of you tahoe, the reflection from the top of your truck to the solar panel makes he solar panel stay at 100 percent power. i didnt believe it from someone telling me the same thing, but its true. . on the ground the solar panel works about 65 to 75 power where as the top of the truck is 95 to 100 percent. its the reflection that helps out.

    • @gonagain
      @gonagain  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That does help. Last winter I reviewed the Bluetti SP120watt panel and had it set up in the snow. The cold temperature and the reflected snow had it up over 120 watts!

    Those are certainly beautiful areas, and the info on the tarantulas was good, tho being from W. Tx we know about them. Funny to watch a dog that hasn't encountered them before, stick their nose into the hole, and the spider jumps on them... does no harm, but I would have jumped too. Hey, This is Bruce over in Newcastle Wyo. That's an alligator bark juniper, they grow here, but smaller. My question is, how do you guys handle thunder storms while camping?

    • @gonagain
      @gonagain  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We've been out in some real boomers. Our first consideration is high winds and we take down or secure everything that can be damaged followed by things that we don't want getting wet. After that we just seek shelter in the car or trailer until it passes. Of course you don't want to be camped under any trees because they attract lightning. The trailer should be safe because it's grounded through the stabilizer struts and lightning should just pass right through it. The car is either going to be insulated because of the tires or grounded because of wet tires or the carbon content in the tires. Either way, it should be a safe refuge.

    I am curious and I am sure many others are as well, how often do you get a flat tire on your trailer with all the off-road travel you do? Do you use a tire pressure monitor so you know when a tire is losing air? That's one problem with a single axle; you can't limp along to find a better spot to change a tire, you have to pull over right away. We have used Pressure Pro for years now. It is a family owned company with excellent products. Thank you in advance for your reply.

    • @gonagain
      @gonagain  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello deasley2, we've never had a flat (yet) on the trailer, but because it's a single axle we change out the tires while they still have a safe amount of tread left on them. My next tires will be E or even F rated so we have a little more puncture resistance. Also, being a camper, the trailer is very lightly loaded.

      Hello Marvin, you need an "excuse" to be out there, something to look forward to. For some people it's hiking, rock climbing, ATV riding, fishing, things like that. Some are into archery and shooting firearms and are looking for the perfect place to set up targets while other's are into painting and photography. For us we search for indian habitation sites and the challenge of thinking like it was 1,000+ years ago and where we would camp if we lived in those days (hint; it's not where us modern folk would consider a perfect camp or living site). Other times we like to get out our metal detector and search for silver and gold (no luck yet, but we keep trying!) What I'm saying is that you need to find a purpose that you like personally to take up your time out there. Bushcraft skills need a little polishing maybe? Look for wild edibles?

      Hello George! We moved the jugs so we would stop tripping over them inside the trailer and we didn't want to install a tank. The battery was moved inside the trailer and we used an AGM gel cell battery which doesn't put off fumes and is safe indoors. I have a video coming out on installing those water jugs.

    I was thinking about your Generator. Two things might be caucing this to happen. The 18650 cell pack in the generator has a high temperture prob in it to shut off if they get to hot. This could be happening if you charge to fast with to many volts,causing the cells to over heat. The other would be if it gets to hot where it is used. Of course it could be both, this is a safty feature of the generator so the 18650 cells don't catch on fire.
    P.S. This is done through the BMS

    Hello in one of your older videos, you talk about proven industries locks for cargo trailer. I just purchased my trailer and I want to buy the wheel lock and the model 2178 for the front. Do you know if lockpickinglawyer has picked these?

    • @gonagain
      @gonagain  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Victoria. All locks can be picked by a professional locksmith like him, but that's not going to be possible by the average thief working at night and down low in an uncomfortable position. I know because I spent a lot of time sitting on my sofa trying to learn how to pick a lock and never did get it down. And having to pick TWO locks will send that thief looking for greener pastures. Proven Industries is a good product and they have very good locks of the latest design. By the way, for the wheel lock, make sure you use a couple (or more) anti theft lug nuts. I use 5 of two different manufacturers, two of one and three of the other.

    • @gonagain
      @gonagain  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh! That was the early days and we had a Mazda CX9 front wheel drive with a V6. It towed ok, was a little anemic on hills and in a headwind but basically did alright. The main reason we replaced it was that the front wheel drive is just wrong for towing because the front tires would break loose when going uphill on a dirt or gravel road and we wanted 4WD for the places we like to go. As for mileage, when towing, our Yukon gets 1mpg less than the V6 Mazda got. Not much difference.

    • @jimb5113
      @jimb5113 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gonagain ...... Thank You. When you said the V6 was "anemic" was what I wanted to know. Even if it had been four wheel drive it would be unsafe on a Interstate and 70MPH. Cargo campers need V8 power to overcome the drag. Thanks!
