Thanks for the vid. I just live over in La Habra and can't believe I haven't been on the trails in turnbull before. Glad to get a bit of a preview first. :)
I found that with the gopro head mount that if you use some paper in between the mount on your helmet, or however you have and it mounted, and the mount on your camera it gets rid of the shaking and the noise of the camera rattling.
I use the shock absorber that comes with the gopro. Its called the gopro doohicky if you look it up on youtube or google. It works pretty well if you haven't tried it.
Pointer if you do use the chest harness. Mount the camera upside down and change the interface setting to display and record upside down as well. Then angle your camera upwards to get the best angle.
Yeah, I think next time I ride my bike I'm gonna do what you did and use the chest harness. I turn my head a lot when using my headset harness. May make for a smoother viewing. But it looks great otherwise. I have the Silver Edition Hero 3.
I'm hoping to get one of these, although I'm not picky on which, so I'll gladly take a white edition. Since I'm a fencer, I want to strap it to my helmet and record myself in a bout.
Its because of youtube. You lose quality but if you use cineform and convert to AVI and then export to MP4 you get better quality when uploading to youtube. The camera rocks!
Great video I'm actually trying to decide which mountain bike to buy. It would be my first mountain bike. Could I write these kind of trails using a dual sport?
I expected the quality to be much better, although I think the shakiness didn't help at all. But $400 for a hd cam and I expect it to look like better. I wonder if you shot it in 720p @ 120 fps if it would be smoother. Just seems like so many frames were dropped, just too choppy.
why do you convert it from cineform? do you have any other editing software? if not you should get one lol I don't like cineform i feel like it loses alot of quality when you convert it....
Its really hard to tell the difference on youtube. When I watch the videos on my computer and TV from the RAW format you can definitely tell. Once you edit a video and upload to youtube the quality seems to degrade a bit. Hope that helps and you should go purchase the GoPRO 3.
There are two different types and many bike manufacturers to choose from. Head over to a local bike shop and talk to some of the experts to get a better idea of what kind of bike you need for the kind of riding you do.
You can't go wrong either way. GoPro's are so awesome!

Thanks Larry! You should get out and try it!
I bought mine through Go Pro's website when they first announced it. Got it in the mail Nov. 1st.

yeah the gopro doohickey (absorber) works great. you wouldnt think it would but it works like a champ
The Interface part sounds a bit complicated but okay I will try it. I'll ask questions if it doesn't workout like I thought it would. Thanks!

Have you been going out here much lately? I hurt my shoulder so I haven't riding lately. I miss it!

Were you one of the lucky people to buy a hero 3 at best buy?

Did you get yours yet?
I use cineform studio. Its the free software that you can download on gopro's website.
would know if it works with windows 8 pro?
TH-cam takes away some of the quality. Sometimes it takes away a significant amount of the original quality.

Is it just me or does the hero 2 actually look better - I cant see a difference in the 2 to the 3 at all!
Thanks for the contructive crticism..
I am sure it would work since Windows 8 has compatibility mode just likes Windows 7.
You probably want to go to a Local Bike shop and try some bikes and see how you feel on it and then make a decision on cost.
09:07 yeah you just aswell edit out the part you killed the guy...
