as a mum of a trans boy you are so right no parent is making their child trans..I have two boys one cis and one trans... I had always wanted a girl..but I am not about to try and make my cis gender son trans and why would I try and make my afab son a boy when I had wanted a girl ..as much as I wanted a girl..having a son who is happy is better than having a daughter who is unalived.

I don't know what I would've done without puberty blockers. I started showing signs of puberty at 6 and had started my period by 7. I was put on them shortly thereafter and took them until I was 10. I then went thru puberty with no problems, blockers gave me the ability to develop at the same time as all the other girls. It's just so infuriating how the right talks about blockers. Like they're gonna cause mass destruction. They were so incredibly beneficial to me as a cis woman. I can't even begin to imagine the level of relief they must bring to trans people.
You got your period at 7?? Gosh I can't imagine how confusing and terrible this should've been:-( I'm so glad you feel better now
I'm so sorry you went through that. That sounds horrifying - starting puberty so young. But I'm really glad you got puberty blockers when you needed them!
Thank god you had them available to be able to use them!! The right are trying to stop this and it's awful.
I know someone who also started puberty super early, and just how awful that can be, especially in a world that operates on the logic of "if they look "developed" then it's okay to sexualise them and it's it's fault if I get turned on by them". I'm really glad that blockers helped you go through without problems.

I think the correct response to "God loves you" is "I'm flattered, really, but tell God I already have a girlfriend."
Or just pretend you don't know what they're talking about, Christianity is honestly just more of a pop culture thing in this country than anything else, just be like "who? Who's God? What are you talking about?" And when they say it's some man in the sky just look at them like they told you the Earth is flat and we live under a giant glass dome
I usually respond "and [insert fictional character here] loves you"
You realise fermerment “theory” is alive in some Christian groups
"I'm sorry god but I only see you as a friend"
my response would just be "glad he does"
I'm pretty sure the "Christian man" in that one meme is supposed to be Jesus, which makes it even worse because, despite how sad he seems, he is definitely threatening that queer person with eternal damnation.
"I'm sorry for what you're making me do to you. This hurts me more than it hurts you."
Literal abuser shit 😆
I'm an atheist, but I was raised Christian and have read the bible multiple times. I think I'm fully qualified to say that JESUS WOULD NOT FUCKING DO THAT. Jesus wouldn't be threatening queer people with going to hell, he'd be attending pride and flipping off any bigots that came his way. Has that bitch even read the bible lmao

Because HE doesn’t want them to go to Hell because he actually supports the queer community”
And it made me feel better

Also earthen construction is extremely good in a whole lot of ways.

Im so confused, i wasnt raised Christian (Im still not) but I went to bible camp and I was taught that heaven literally doesn’t exist yet and that once god is done making it he will take EVERYONE up into heaven but until then literally everyone is going hell. 😅
Holy sht w h a t. I hadn't heard this before - what type of Christan was saying that??
Typical Christian hegemony is that God currently resides in Heaven. This is largely because, in Genesis 1, the first act of Creation which God did was that God created the Heavens and the Earth.
Such an idea is further reinforced by the Book of Revelation and sporadic teachings of Jesus and interpretations from Paul in his Epistles to other churches/church leaders, wherein Jesus discusses himself sitting on one side of The Father/YHWH/God, who is seated on a throne overseeing the faithful in their eternal prayers.
----
There is an idea in the Apocalypse of Peter, which is not canonical but has been a major theological and philosophical text since well before the Nicaean Creed which determined Christianity's "Canonical Books of the Bible"... where "Hell" presents karmic punishments: if you lived as a glutton, then you're tortured with starvation while food remains perpetually out of reach. If you get an abortion, you're buried in fetal remains left gasping for air as the putrid stench and slime consumes all of your senses.
When "Peter" comments on the cruelty of these punishments, least of all as never-ending torture permitted and enforced by a kind and loving God, his guide lets Peter in on the secret that during the "Day of Rapture", all people will be ascended to Heaven, those in Hell having had their Sins purged through the torture they endured.
This text would apparently go on to be a major core of Dante's "Inferno", which influenced most of the modern ideas of Hell and also Heaven and Purgatory.
Are you getting confused with the harrowing? The myth goes (or often interpreted) as Jesus having liberated the souls in hell and taking the devil's power after his crucifixion.
Since Jesus' resurrection and ascension into heaven, good souls are no longer kept in hell. But about every believer just goes with whatever story they personally prefer anyways
@@ananousous i sorta meant “heaven” as in a afterlife for humans. 😅
I was taught that god was Omnipresence, so that he didn’t live in heaven necessarily-
Isn’t this also what the whole rising thing is about? The day jesus comes back to earth is the day we rise up to heaven no??
@@LordOfElysium I mean there's multiple interpretations and many different personal beliefs to this stuff, right? But the belief I'm most familiar with is that the rising you refer to (the Rapture, yes?) is for the living believers who are still on Earth when Judgment day starts.

I thought even the most braindead conservatives knew about the ancient Egyptians?? Are they not African?? Carthage?? Aksum??? I can't cope.
When they hold up ignorance as a value and something to be proud of, are we really surprised?
@ferret Absolutely! Africa as a continent has such a diversity of history, religion, language, culture and ethnicity! The richest man to ever live was from the Mali empire and people act like Africa was just mud huts until the scramble for Africa in the 1800's, which actually made things WORSE not better. Conservatives need to read a history book.

Just for the record, you can get tattoos for less than $100 in the U.S. I have four tattoos (all approx. 4 inches in diameter) that were less than that. They're B&W only, but it is a thing that's out there.
As a queer teacher in a state with 'no promo homo' laws, I don't know a single school district that says anything about LGBT studies or people since it's technically illegal. I read a few LGBT picture books to my class before I found out about the law and that I could get fined or lose my teaching certification for reading the books to my class. I didn't read anymore after that but I kept the books.
Pardon the language, but those laws are such utter bullsh¡t. The letter of the law probably also dings cishet content; it might be worth causing a stink over. What state, if I may ask?

I also am having a week. My grandma died the morning after my birthday, and now my Aunt and I (who both lived with her) have until Feb. 2nd of 2024 to come up with $390k or else we'll have to sell the house. That has been in the family since my great-grandfather built it in the 50s. I make less than $20k a year even after raises (getting a job in Southern California when you don't own a car is only somewhat less aggravating than trying to get a job in 1800s Georgia when your last name starts with an O or a Mc) and my Aunt is on Social Security. So you have my sympathies. Hope things turn around for you.
In middle school I learned about queer history in school, but only because we had a class where you could research anything you wanted and I wanted to write a film script about gay ghosts so I researched queer culture throughout history in the state where I lived. It was a extremely excepting school (every classroom had a rainbow flag that said safe zone under it outside of the room, and a lot of places in the school had pride flags like on doors or walls on the building because a lot of the time in art we did murals- I actually got to create the "LGBTQ" mural in the library when I was in seventh grade- the design ended up being like a rainbow arch but it was the flags to the different letters in the acronym, plus my teachers tried harder to respect me being non binary than my doctor even did at the time.) No classes taught LGBTQ history despite this, even though you could learn about it if you sought it out. Even though the school was really cool about marginalized groups, we did still have the extremely watered down version of history in our textbooks that framed the Spaniards and Colonists as heroes for "creating the new world" and the worst part is, I knew that was wrong because I was in the advanced classes, so I had to do my own research, but most of my friends were in normal ela and social studies classes, and were surprised when I would tell them about how cruel and uselessly violent the spaniards actually were, but the principals parents wrote those text books so I guess we had to use them.
To quote Thought Slime when they were addressing the "I identify as an attack helicopter" joke: "The difference is that a woman and a man, are things that a person can be."

12:48 is such a mood. I literally had to choose between staying with abusive family or moving out on my own. The only rent I could afford is cheap because 2 of my neighbors are sex offenders. I don't want to live next to predators, but I don't have much of a choice, and unfortunately, the criminals make me feel more safe than my family.
the fact that you feel safer living next door to criminals than in the comfort of your own home is honestly sad. i feel your pain, stay safe 💗

I love the "don't buy anything! oh my god the few buckws you spend for fun is ruining you!!!!" then you don't spend much money " YOUNG PEoPlE ARE RuINInG THE ECONOmYYy StOOReeS are CloSINg"
"Wahhhahh young people aren't buying fabric softener anymore 😭" fabric softener isn't a necessity, also the laundry industry is highly predatory, why do we buy special liquid soap for our clothes? You can make your own for so much cheaper, you just need washing soda (different from baking soda), borax and grated bar soap, the bar soap doesn't matter whatever kind it is, ivory, Irish Spring, actual laundry bars, you can use anything, and if you don't want to buy washing soda you can make it yourself by putting a sheet of baking soda in the oven so that all of the moisture evaporates, the resulting product being washing soda, also fuck dryer sheets just buy wool balls, wash in the washer to make felted, remove from washer and apply a few drops of essential oil and allow it to seep in, then put them in the dryer with your laundry, they never have to be rewashed and if they lose their scent then apply more essential oil, the laundry industry upcharges so much for things that are so easy to make yourself, the fact that most people don't even question this and they blindly purchase whatever capitalism tells us we need is scary, question everything
@@mrcattoonist4766 Fabric softener is for places with hard water. They don’t tell you that of course. They want everyone to buy it.
@@MissCaraMint oh thanks for letting me know, see? I didn't know that cause they just act like it's something everyone needs regardless of your water quality
Every Funko Pop I have (I know, I know) was got on sale, so take that Conservatives. Hell, my Apollo one (from the OG Battlestar Galactica) was only $3.50. Only way you'd ever get me to pay full price for one of those is if they released one for Dreamer from Supergirl.

At least in my school, "Tech Ed" was woodshop and like, very basic computer science (more like how to use programs, not coding or anything like that). They were electives, like Home Ec and advanced art classes, so if you weren't interested in those topics, you didn't have to take them, but they were always available to fill out a schedule. I am also ancient and graduated HS in the mid-2000s, so the definition may have changed since then.
15:16 as someone with an MA in literature, in what universe does the average "core" schedule have _more_ time devoted to English than to math and science _combined_ lmfao.
Tech Ed can involve technology like CAD or 3D printing, but usually it's more traditional stuff like a bit of woodworking. Projects I did in tech ed included things like building a balsa wood bridge, making a working miniature plane (that was a specialty class), making a plaque, etc. It was really mostly a useless singular required class that I needed to graduate and was a total mess. The plaque was just something we drew on with markers because the teacher was too lazy to help us use power tools (but to be fair to him, the class size was ridiculous and using tools safely and properly supervised might not have been much of an option)

1. These Native American, African, and European buildings all solve the same problems, they just solve them differently due to things like resource availability.
2. Natives had sprawling city centers. And not every native tribe built huts. This just goes to show that the person who made this doesn't know anything.
Editing to say I forgot to include aboriginals.

when mom was younger she bought a house, we live in a small city in Brazil, it was in nice conditions, nice vicinity, well located and all. It cost around $10k. We moved but we kept the house to rent it and recently we sold it. The buyer only wanted the terrain to expand his parking lot (it was a small terrain though, could fit around 4 more cars). It was evaluated around $200k when she sold it and it would cost even more, but we needed the money quickly so we took it.
Also, guess what? Mom every now and then complains about how I don't own a house because "at her age..." when she herself just saw a same terrain cost more than 10 times what she spent "at her age"
Huh. My mom just says she feels sorry for kids today.
I love your sweater! Your hair is pretty too! I love your videos so much.
Edit: Science & tech I think is supposed to mean "science and technology" which is grouped together sometimes in American public schools.
Also, one of my favorite teachers in highschool is my former English teacher (she teaches English 10, but I'm in 12th grade now). She made it obvious how open minded she was. I felt completely safe around her.
I always wondered about that, in American schools you just have one subject that is just science? Where I'm from it gets separated pretty early on into chemistry, physics, biology, geography etc. Only in like the first few grades of elementary it is under one thing called nature and society, and even those get separated in I think third grade? And they are completely separated in 5th grade
@@ettaz it gets separated in middle school and high school. Like biology, chemistry, physics, etc.
Edit: In elementary school, though, we just call it science.

I'm 25 and live in Canada and tech ed was a class we did between grades 4-7. We learned how to type, how to use html, and how to use various microsoft office programs, among other things.
I really wish we had to continue it throughout or do a refresher class in grade 11 and /or 12 cause I forgot pretty much everything about what we learned.
I have a shoulder tattoo that was under $100 but that is a special price for my mom and I. We have only ever gone to this singular artist and he even closed his shop for the two of us to get tatted and watch x files. He only charged $75 for my tattoo that day but my mom gave him a tip that evened out the price because he absolutely deserved it.
Btw for those who don’t know what Tech Ed is, it’s just a newer way of saying shop class and STEM. Stuff like that.
Sorry to hear you’re having ✨a week✨, hope it gets easier 💜

The last meme is so uneducated too because possibly some civilizations are in environments where it is just naturally harder to survive due to elemental factors, resources, and natural predators in that area. Europe is pretty lucky in the fact that it is not too extreme in those areas of survival. Culture develops around how life is to live and that includes adaption to environment. Even outside the fact that you cannot tell the complexity a civilization on their buildings alone. Something this meme didn’t take in account at all
Conservatives have such an odd obsession with people owning houses. Maybe I don’t want one because it’s too much work to take care of and some days it’s hard enough to take care of myself. Plus it would be way too much space in all honesty.
The meme about the ancient civilizations comparison bothers me because it not only uses pictures taken 'recently', but also ignores that the majority of european folk back 2000 years ago lived in the fields, not the big cities, which were probably just as humble as the former examples tbh.
Tech ed is Technical Education. It’s learning Graphics, Welding, 3D modeling, drafting, wood work, construction, (some engineering falls under this), Architecture, CNC routing, Electrical technology, Cooking, Cosmology, Manufacturing etc. All work that requires technical skills.
They basically are trade skills and don’t necessarily need a four year college degree but are useful for a functioning society. They are important in high school for those not interested in a four year college, and rather go to a technical college (or trade school) or they want to get right into the work force (either by apprenticeship or etc). It’s actually a pretty sweet gig for most who can’t afford student debt and want experience to propel them into a well paying trade pretty fast.
Your story at 5:56 reminded me of my own personal one. I was walking home from school with my girlfriend (Im a trans man, and they look physically masculine), and this guy who was going door to door saw me and my girlfriend, handed us pamphlets, and said "i think you two need this."
