    Correction: Mozart did have a happy marriage-- but a rough courtship. Also he died in Vienna, not Prague. He got sick in Prague.

    One of Mozart’s pupils, Johann Hummel described his teacher being of “small build, his face pale; his physiognomy contained much that was pleasant and friendly, with a touch of melancholic seriousness; his large blue eyes gleamed brightly.”

    Mozart had smallpox at age 11, including pustules on his eyelids which left him blind for several days. The paintings don’t show anything but his “real face” must have had the scars smallpox leaves behind.

      The second to last portrait was supposedly the most accurate of him. It was painted but not completed and was done by the man who became his widow's second husband. She declared it an extremely accurate picture of him. He was a redhead and was known well for his foul mouth.

      @@ifyouloveChristyouwillobeyhimIt's not an excuse. It's a logical theory to why he behaved like that, which is important to understand where this kind of attitude comes from. Stop acting like everything is an excuse, you sound ignorant. Understanding psychology is extremely important, especially because we can use the knowledge to prevent it from happening in the future. Mozart was a victim from child exploitation, which is still very common in the art industry (and other areas) today. A child NEEDS to be a child and have fun in order to be a healthy adult in the future. So no, it's not an excuse, it's common sense.

    The portrait from 03:19 is a posthumous portrait, painted almost 30 years after his death, ordered by his widow (more an idealization). The last portrait in this video is apparently still being discussed (Mozart or not Mozart?) but many are convinced it is the last genuine portrait of Mozart (amongst others, it presents the most resemblances with some other younger portraits).

    If only he could have lived to a ripe old age. He would have given us such wonders! Some forensic researchers believe he died of an intestinal infection brought on by tainted food purchased outside the home.

    • @Cristobels-Green-Boots
      @Cristobels-Green-Boots 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Ivorybow: So many stories surrounding poor Wolfgang’s death...we know that he cried when he knew that he was dying (renal failure?)
      Then there’s the one (quite feasible) that he was poisoned: ‘The Magic Flute’ apparently ‘blew the gaff’ on Freemasonry, so he was got rid of by interested parties;
      It’s hard to tell if his lack of self-care resulted in his death, or if he could have gone on producing at such a rate - it’s perfectly possible to work oneself to death...
      A word about Constanze - she married again, as was customary, & lived to a ripe old age: she continued to promote Mozart’s music, & musicians & students would make a pilgrimage to visit her & want to ask about her life with Wolfgang, & about his creativity:
      Music can come & go ‘out of fashion’ - not so with Mozart....ordinary people say “isn’t this wonderful? It’s so simple!”....& musicians say
      “isn’t this wonderful? It’s so complex”
      ‘Beloved of God’ - yes indeed!
      🙏🏻💔🙏🏽

    A very good direction. I propose a reconstruction of portraits of a composer whom Mozart admired very much: Johann Adolf Hasse (1699-1783) - an Italian opera master, a true musical idol of the era. There are several portraits of Hasse, including a portrait by Denner. This painter painted with photographic accuracy. Hasse's wife was Faustina Bordoni - an excellent #singer, also known for her vocal competition on stage with the singer Cuzzoni. Singers such as Farinelli, Senesino, Cafarelli, Annibali - this is also a good topic for new movies

      Sophia Coppola’s movie “Marie Antoinette “. With Kirsten Dunst, it went to the Cannes festival. They filmed it at Versailles, but had to go by certain rules.
      The movie is beautiful……Versailles…..the fountains, costumes & shoes. Everything was immaculate. The dances…….their lives were incredible.
      But it was hard to watch Marie stay with her husband and not leave Versailles like everyone else did. My 2nd favorite movie is “The Last Emperor “.

    I feel so much for him and his work.
    On one hand, he's clearly either a prodigal gift from God, or a puppet of his father's, or is he a mix of both?
    Dead at 35. Only 2 children survived infancy. All us Americans know of him is some of his more popular (and not his best) works - and a movie from the late 80's. While it was entertaining, it did not focus on accuracy.
    There are passages of his, that I've had the chance to read, and then played - that break my heart.
    Usually, in less popular works.
    He wrote so deeply, and defiantly in opposition of cheap, gaudy fashions
    I'm so glad to have played his music. The deep, the cheap, and all the rest.
    How lucky are we to have a library of such a guy and his work.
