How do you even nerf him? He's damage isn't that insane, his main source of combos (nut punch) costs him 2 bars. The only thing they can really do is make all his moves minus instead of plus which will just completely kill him

Ken and JP are the biggest things in SF6, but there’s still other characters popping up in Top 8’s. Meanwhile NRS is still going to be figuring out this game for the next few years unless it dies before they hoped it would. I still remember the discrepancy between all the good fatal blows and random pointless ones at the beginning of MK11.
@@cylondorado4582 just like how you mentioned Ken and JP in SF6, there’s top characters but there are still some other ones that make comp placings. while yes at the first major we saw a bunch of cyrax, that’s a balance change away from not being seen as much, and even then, there was more Kung Lao Kameo than not. People underestimated Rain and Ashrah and they made high placings. Kitana is Foxy Grandpa’s online main and he gets really good results against top players. You’re just tunnel visioned on the combos that are the most obnoxious rather than the creative shit other people come up with when they use non-top tiers.
Johnny is about 80% of all kombat league matches right now. He’s just without question the best character in the game now, especially if you pair him with kung Lao or sareena kameo. The vast majority of his attacks are safe on block and he has the most mixups of anyone I’ve seen. If you aren’t horrible at the basics of the game, Johnny let’s you put unstoppable pressure on people and just gets such easy damage. And with the nitro kick being as good as it is Johnny doesn’t even need a projectile to cover that aspect. It blows my mind he didn’t get touched in the last patch. NRS has to remove the plus on block from the majority of his attacks if they want to balance him out with the rest of the cast.
You don’t even have to be good you can just launch someone and mash and you’ll somehow juggle them 😂 he’s the classic (just mash and see what comes out) archetype of the 90s

Also, don't let anybody gaslight you into thinking this character is fine as is. The fact that you can hardly point out a legitimate flaw of the character that isn't just fixed by a kameo should tell you just how overtuned he is rn. SOMETHING has got to go, and I really hope its not just a d1 change but even that would be a good change.

He stands up and you get to throw your high string for free and he has to block or get full combod Again this is UNIVERSAL. If you do these things and get good at them. You’ll see that Johnny absolutely needs to have the things he has because without them he’d be unplayable. No I suggest you try those things then come back after you’ve dominated 10 trash Johnnys and tell me I was right. The problem is guys like doing combos but don’t actually like learning the game or trying to adapt to the person they are playing against play style.

I’ve been playing Kenshi / Sub and it’s really fun. You should try to learn some Kenshi. He’s very hard to learn at first, but his combos feel very rewarding.
You should try some havik with either striker or sub. Sub in my opinion is the best allowing you to zone and good combo damage. Cyrax gives the most damage easily, but striker can give really crazy damage but it can be difficult.
I still use sareena with havik as having that ability to have a faster zoning game her foward assist and combo extenders with her back. Her neutral also helps vut is more of a win more but does help with any MB armor wake ups
He pretty much is lol. Only things unsafe is the Huge kick like Max puts it and if he completes the F124 string and almost all his special moves. His 50/50 is not as amazing as many think it is though. His 21 string into overhead or low can be fuzzy blocked (low comes out faster so you can quickly block low and high again and your good). He overall also has a lot of highs so using a character with a decent ranged footsie can basically stop his nonsense since all he has are highs, reactable overheads and one pretty fast mid. Not downplaying him at all though. His kit is super good even if it can highly get stomped by mashing and spacing.
all his high strings are plus, fastest safe mid string by far in the game at 9f, has 6f d1, has full screen kick punish, parry, etc.. recipe for success
I don’t play MK but I assumed Johnny was dank in this game specifically because of getting the Jean Claude likeness. If they waited 30 years to get JCVD into the game they’re not going to make Johnny anything but top tier. It’d be an insult to JCVD otherwise.
Cage is just BS in this game. He has such frame advantage and anyone can spam the same handful of moves, especially when they have you trapped in the corner. Of all the characters that should be nerfed, it should be him.
At first I thought Johnny just needed less plus on block moves to balance him out but now I’m pretty sure some of his overheads need to be changed to mids. The plus frames make him brainless to play but the insane amount of mix up options is what makes him so dangerous. It always sucks when a character is so overused you can’t go 10 minutes without fighting them, but it makes it so much worse when it’s a character that is as oppressive as Johnny. Raiden/Cyrax and Baraka/Cyrax had too much damage for sure but I’d rather play those teams over Johnny and whoever.
If you're playing KL or ranked you will never learn the match ups vs other characters everyone is going after the cheap characters people no longer play for fun
This has been a thing for years across every game. Johnny isn’t “cheap” at all. Guys don’t know how to play against him and don’t try to learn apparently. The Raiden players that literally only low kick and has the only un reactable overhead in the game is cheap.
13:11 Maybe he didn't do it because he's watching your stream while playing against you. That is possible to do right? That's probably why he didn't use the kick right there. If so, this is why i always thought it would be a waste of time to say out loud what you think the people you're fighting against are gonna do with they're reactive moves. I’ve been playing Kenshi / Sub and it’s really fun. You should try to learn some Kenshi. He’s very hard to learn at first, but his combos feel very rewarding.

You should try some havik with either striker or sub. Sub in my opinion is the best allowing you to zone and good combo damage. Cyrax gives the most damage easily, but striker can give really crazy damage but it can be difficult.

I still use sareena with havik as having that ability to have a faster zoning game her foward assist and combo extenders with her back. Her neutral also helps vut is more of a win more but does help with any MB armor wake ups

He pretty much is lol. Only things unsafe is the Huge kick like Max puts it and if he completes the F124 string and almost all his special moves.
His 50/50 is not as amazing as many think it is though. His 21 string into overhead or low can be fuzzy blocked (low comes out faster so you can quickly block low and high again and your good). He overall also has a lot of highs so using a character with a decent ranged footsie can basically stop his nonsense since all he has are highs, reactable overheads and one pretty fast mid. Not downplaying him at all though. His kit is super good even if it can highly get stomped by mashing and spacing.
How come Max doesn’t use walk punch special? It seems like it could corner carry well.

all his high strings are plus, fastest safe mid string by far in the game at 9f, has 6f d1, has full screen kick punish, parry, etc.. recipe for success
Cage is the reason I put this game down the last couple weeks. Seeing I'm fighting one just deflates me, it's never a fun time.

As Johnny player, the front kick, normal nor enhanced, cant hit you low, you simply stand/try to imput a hit.

Cage is just BS in this game. He has such frame advantage and anyone can spam the same handful of moves, especially when they have you trapped in the corner. Of all the characters that should be nerfed, it should be him.

At first I thought Johnny just needed less plus on block moves to balance him out but now I’m pretty sure some of his overheads need to be changed to mids. The plus frames make him brainless to play but the insane amount of mix up options is what makes him so dangerous. It always sucks when a character is so overused you can’t go 10 minutes without fighting them, but it makes it so much worse when it’s a character that is as oppressive as Johnny. Raiden/Cyrax and Baraka/Cyrax had too much damage for sure but I’d rather play those teams over Johnny and whoever.
If you're playing KL or ranked you will never learn the match ups vs other characters everyone is going after the cheap characters people no longer play for fun
This has been a thing for years across every game. Johnny isn’t “cheap” at all. Guys don’t know how to play against him and don’t try to learn apparently. The Raiden players that literally only low kick and has the only un reactable overhead in the game is cheap.
@@razyel5996 I beat the shit out of JC 90% of the time. Raiden is just spamming one move that’s unpunishable with pushback.

13:11 Maybe he didn't do it because he's watching your stream while playing against you. That is possible to do right? That's probably why he didn't use the kick right there. If so, this is why i always thought it would be a waste of time to say out loud what you think the people you're fighting against are gonna do with they're reactive moves. Though it would hard to know what players are watching your stream and fighting against you too.
