This is a classic for the ages. You will learn more in this film than any college course. I watched the original 1991 seven-hour film and have the two-hour DVD summary in my library.
My cousin David Hiott took command of these three ships when they ended up in Texas. I don’t think he stayed long because he wanted ships that could actually go to sea. He told me a tug or a barge collided with one or more of the ships. So he left for Wilmington, Delaware and took command of the Kalmar Nyckel, a replica of the ship that brought the first Swedes. That one was not yet built when her arrived so he was there to rig the vessel while the builders built it. It went to sea quite a few times. Then David died at age 42 of skin cancer. Too much sun obviously.
@@hockeyteeth On october 12th, 1492 Columbus set foot on a Island of what's known today as a part of the Bahamas. The natives called it Guanahani, Columbus named it San Salvador. Todays island carrying the name San Salvador (got its name in 1926) IS NOT the island, where Columbus made landfall in 1492.
Do you mean "the Americas"? America is the shortened name of the United States of America, so yeah, he didn't discover something that was 300 years in the future. Oh, and yes we know that...we graduated 3rd grade. So glad you're here to tell us these things, professor!

You are missing the point. You want actors or you want real skilled sailors, technicians, and historians who re-create as close as possible what he did?
This is the best documentary I’ve seen on Columbus voyage.
