The risk is the sacrifice. He died as a human and went into Hades as a human. He had to trust God in that place, and it was almost too much for him. As he remained in faith toward the promises the Father made him, God then raised him from the dead. In doing so, Jesus faced the full power of death, in the grave, and overcame it, thereby making it possible to not have to face death if we pass into eternity with him. Think of it as realms rather than a religion. There is order and authority structures in those realms. Jesus now has full authority in every realm, and he offers us safe passage through his victory. It's the greatest story ever told, that happens to be ultimate reality.
