Crazy you were talking about Vintage Lenses, I just bought a Helios 44-2 58mm with an anamorphic mod to test next to these Sirui 35 & 75 Anamorphics.
I’m trying to find that different look that speaks to me.

@@mrCarStyling it came moded already, the image is great and the flares are white instead of blue. I bought it in L-Mount.. fit 👍🏽

70s and 80s Nikkor lenses are fantastic, but getting expensive - Zuiko (Olympus), Pentax and Minolta are great too though. My favourite lens ever is the Nikkor 105mm f/2.5, which is still pin sharp wide open on my Z6...mine is from 1973 and still going strong.

Beautiful work C! I copped a 35mm Vivitar a few years ago. You’re right about eBay for vintage. I love the thrift stores for them too. People sleep on the cheaper vintage but they’re beautiful and while folks are busy lusting after Canon FD’s and Zeiss you’ll get the cheaper brands for the low lol

Nice video, i like vintage lenses and ive come across this vivitar lenses on ebay but never dare to try them. A vintage lens i would recommend you to try is the nikkor ai 50mm f1.2, not super cheap but an amazing lens, at f1.2 for me is like you said from the vivitar, not to sharp and not to soft but i dont use it at f1.2 all the time, the DoF is too shallow i mostly use it at f2, on this aperture is the sharpest 50mm lens ive ever used.

There are different versions of the Helios 44-2. If you buy the more rare (and expensive) KMZ version, you will have way fewer issues esepecially on the contrast. You should get the Jupiter 85mm

Vintage lenses are amazing bang for buck. A lot of them have so much great character for an incredibly low price and all you gotta do is say goodbye to autofocus which you should be doing anyway. If you a beginner or on a budget don't underestimate a vintage lens, you don't need to pay an arm and a leg for great glass.

I am new to film making and am showing my ignorance here but you call it a f2.8 but when you show the actual lens it says 1:2.8 on the top.... is the 1 just another way of saying f and vice versa? Also I have a few that are 1:2.8 and are 28mm......... Is the 28mm all that different or will they give just as good results? thanks
