  • Erik and Lyle Menendez are currently serving life sentences for killing their parents in 1989, but the Los Angeles County District Attorney is now considering whether to recommend re-sentencing the brothers in light of new evidence that may back their allegations of sexual abuse. NBC News’ Danny Cevallos reports on the latest legal developments in the Menendez case.

Free them. If they were women abused by their parents, they would've never been charged.

Only people who have not been abused believe they should stay in prison.

Incorrect. And the perfect example of the 'no true Scotsman' argument.
Most people who have been abused didn't murder their parents and go on a shopping spree.
      You may lack morals.

Whatever you want to say about the killings, they've been made scapegoats for the failures of the society and those around them at that time to do anything about the abuse they had endured for 12-15 years. Society was hopelessly inadequate in helping them in that situation, so they took matters into their own hands, and found themselves targets of a new abuser. In many ways, they swapped one form of abuse for another.

A lot of people were abused and didn't murder their parents then go on a shopping spree.

Maybe instead of driving to store to buy shotguns, they could have gone to apply for jobs and an apartment. Then they could have gone to the police about their father, he and their mother never got a trial. Funny how they only feared for their lives after Dad said no inheritance.

Then let out all prisoners. They were all abused in one way or another. They killed their mom.
