I used to jam this song with a really good friend of mine. He showed me a lot about music through Pink Floyd. Losing him was one of the hardest things I have went through. I love and miss him dearly, and every time I hear this song, it takes me back and I get to laugh with his echoes. Beautiful.
Your comment just touched my heart, I just lost my precious wife and feel really bad but this song always reminds me of all the beautiful times we shared together and it makes me smile even with tears in my eyes. Beautiful just as you said.
I'll tell you one thing. When I saw them at old JFK stadium in philly in 1987, they opened with this song. I can die happy knowing I at least got to see 3/4 of the Floyd perform this masterpiece live.
I saw Pink Floyd at Pompeii when I was 13 years old at the Kimball movie theater on Yonkers Avenue circa 1979. Friday nights were rock and roll flicks for $.88 all night long. The place was packed with teens drinking and smoking becoming introduced to theirs minds; some of us made it and some did not. It was a magical time.
Pretty magical opportunity to be at that place at that time. Im truly jelous. I discovered pink floyd 5 years ago while trippin acid. I wish I would of had the opportunity to see any of the members live. Unfortunately I dont see that happening. Im so greatful for what pink floyd is doing during these trying times of the covid
In 1988, myself and a couple of friends went boating/camping at Lake Powell. We ended up camping at the very end of Navajo Canyon at a spot with a small beach and cliffs towering behind us and across from us. We played this the first night - and the next, etc. It echoed off the walls across from us and sounded so eerie - and appropriate! Small campfire, billions of stars above us - and Pink Floyd. I can't hear this without remembering.
You can't really find something more special than this piece of art, this version here is a masterpiece, incredible the four what kind of music created during the 70'
This was the first song on deck ,when i would drive through Cascadia every morning at 4:00. Snow covered roads winding 100 miles to the other side. I did this every day for 9 months. What an inspiration, then and throughout my life.
Love Pink Floyd one of my favorite bands grew up in 50/60s each album has deep meanings in my life. Oh how i loved the 70s no better time to have lived.
Headphones on, I was meditating to some solo piano piece. Then out of nowhere, just simply out of nowhere the thumping bassline of Echoes hit me hard. The next thing I know, I have this playing and I was transported to another world. I vividly remember watching this over and over on VHS tape a long time back.
When I die, if I don't get to hear David Gilmore guitar as I'm flying through space I will feel cheated and robbed. Heaven will not be heaven without the reverberations of the guitar God being heard. Without it will be hell.
Simple musical perfection in a nutshell!...will never be equaled again!...so happy to have been to a couple of their concerts at the Hollywood bowl,...and happier to have lived the times of Pink Floyd!....I can die in peace having lived those Wonderfull years when music really meant something!...PEACE! Peeps!...later!

As good as Echoes is, that title goes to Astronomy Domine for me. I heard it for the first time on the Ummagumma album, and I was floored! Still am, when I listen to it.

I adore this song to death, it is the nicest treat for my ears, in all my 56 years on this earth... I have heard it thousands upon thousands of times, and I love it now, more than I ever have, it is me.
AT THEIR PRIME!! The best Floyd ever sounded together. Late 60's thru early 70's, they had it. This recording, More Blues in France, and in The Church in 1971 perfection. Found them in my younger days tripping acid and getting high with my friends. God what a time to be alive. I'd really regret missing the 1995 Division Bell Tour. I was a Senior in High School.
When I first saw this on vhs I was in awe of the sounds of the wide open sky the seriousness of what 4 ppl can create just had to snatch this track from the cosmos into mother earth surface in Pompeii just fabulous!.
To think they just rocked up there and started playing with no advertising is both bizarre and amazingly incredible. Imagine being some kid in Pompei at the time to just happen to pass by and hear music, then to show up and witness history before your eyes.

Vengo escuchando está pieza de Pink Floyd " Echoes " desde 1971 y cada vez disfruto más.
Wie schön, daß es Menschen gibt, die in Lage sind so wunderbare Musik zu komponieren!
I'm hearing this for the first time and I deeply regret not giving it a chance before, God this is essentially art.
why deeply regret? you can listen to it now cant you?
Amazing... so amazing.
Spot on mate ❤
Yup, still amazed about this musical construction. How? They’ve always blown my mind with their introspection at such a young age.
This is the only video on youtube that i play over and over again and show to every new person I meet that i feel will be important in my life.
1st time here....I actually thought I heard this!!! New discovery for me!
the greatest solo Gilmour ever did. Its Fantastic.
My wife was 6 months pregnant with our son when we saw Floyd... He's 30 years old now, and LOVES Floyd! Go figure!
My 16 year old grandson loves Floyd more than I do.
I listened to this album during my first episode with LSD - what a trip that was!!!
British people were born to create the best progressive rock ever
AvangAmbient PlanetMusic Lets not forget Canadians ;)
He's probably referencing rush
And if you believe that,I've got some beach front property on the dark side of the Moon and it's cheap 2!!!!
English. All English. Plus Jack Bruce obviously.
@@ivorymiller8405 I'll take it
It’s hard to believe that some people will live their entire life without hearing this song, it’s haunting ancient tone sounds like a ballad of the universe and the ending seriously sounds like the end of time. The location also really complimented this image, perfection
I’ve never heard anything that’s brought me to tears like this, beautiful music. I love pink Floyd
64 years old.
And i listen Pink floyd with the same pleasure.
Echoes is an absolute masterpiece.
Thanks to them.
Saw them London 94 pulse best 🌙 night of my shit life..❤😊
This song is a masterpiece in Rock history equivalent in scale to Beethoven's fifth symphony in Classical music
its also an early influence on berlin techno. bowie was influenced by this. Comparable to the doors, the end, in re to influencing what could be done expansion wise in rock.
Agree 65 y.o and still love the progressive bands of late 60’s and 70’s.
Of course Dark Side of the Moon will remain my fav.
ELP was loved Too.
I literally fall asleep every night to this
It’s soothing to my ears too!
W bout figuratively or metaphorically?
Do u ever metaphorically fall asleep to it?
I used to fall asleep too, to it back in the day . . . 1971-72 . . .
I get stoned asf
De las más bellas melodías de Pink demostrando su exquisitez, hasta alguna que otra alma o espíritu de ese coliseo lo habrá disfrutado.....
I am 76yo now. By playing Wish You Were Here every day since the beginning of 2019 Mother Gaea and Father Time made The Love Of My Life find me back on Facebook June 10, 2020. I had been so stupid to leave her behind at Bratislava Hlavna Stanica in than still communist CzechoSlovakia 07/29/1980, so my 40y of wandering in the wilderness was finally over.
In the 70th I had the honour to organize the first show of Pink Floyd in Pompeï for The Netherlands in Paradiso Amsterdam.
I'll keep playing Pink Floyd for my Santa Lucia untill my last days!
Milujem t'a! Ik Hou Van Jou!
Never will there be, anyone like Pink Floyd again. I listen to them everyday, it boost the morale, just amazing!!!!!
And as the music fades into the past, this 70 year old man sits in quiet contemplation, the recent tears drying slowly on his face.
naturalroyalflush I do hope you’ve had a good life man! Peace to you my brother.
Enjoy the trip.
same here i'm so grateful i am alive to have heard this never to be repeated
What exactly are you getting so emotional about?
Floyd will bring you back from the edge and take you beyond the horizon
best version of echoes ever
The coda is particularly fine.
But the master had aspects I still like, particularly the fluidity of the guitar sound in the introduction and coda.
@@JosephYearwood This is the studio version. The live Pompeii version is far better:- th-cam.com/video/y-E7_VHLvkE/w-d-xo.html
@@jackgammon4084 wrong
@@jwardbass4452 Not wrong. The video uses a photo from Pompeii but the track is from the Meddle studio album. The better version is the live Pompeii version in my opinion. Maybe you prefer the song more muted?
This one is a bit more mystical than studio version. I love it.
15-septiembre
Por obligación debemos difundir. Musica . . . Buena.... RPB
Rick Wright was the most underrated musician ever!
One of the greatest albums in history. Absolutely amazing!
❤😢😢😢❤!
I'll tell you one thing. When I saw them at old JFK stadium in philly in 1987, they opened with this song. I can die happy knowing I at least got to see 3/4 of the Floyd perform this masterpiece live.
Who wasn't there?
@@michaelzann9589 This is kind of Pink Floyd 101, but Roger Waters was out of the band by then.
I got to see all 4 of them perform this in 1975 at Roosevelt Stadium, Jersey City,N.J. Absolutely AWESOME!!!!
Fascinating era. Thanks for sharing Fred
how loud was it
This is not just a song... it's a Masterpiece, a Mantra, an Anthem... 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This was the first song that I heard from PINK FLOYD back in ''75. And I became forever loyal fan since then.
By far, out of all their music, this song stands out the most. Everyone is playing on point.
In thousands years of human kind existence, i'm glad i was born in the same era as Pink Floyd
Rick Wright and David Gilmour always harmonized so beautifully. They almost sound like the same person sometimes.
i agree with that
Greatest band of all time playing greatest song of all time. Best of the best. Anybody 74 still listening to this like me

The Pink Floyd changed my life when I was a child, 1973 age 9. What a Trip ...I've been Living.....
This work of art is an incredibly unique reflection of one self and all that is great about music!
That's a masterpiece. RIP Rick Wright
My soul is so alive listening to this song everytime...
Also RIP Syd
Rip rick and syd
Yeah! Agree!!!

It’s cool to be able to hear each individual instrument in this recording
You can't really find something more special than this piece of art, this version here is a masterpiece, incredible the four what kind of music created during the 70'
I’ve always been skeptical in naming a “favorite song,” but this version is my #1
This was the first song on deck ,when i would drive through Cascadia every morning at 4:00. Snow covered roads winding 100 miles to the other side. I did this every day for 9 months. What an inspiration, then and throughout my life.
Compreensão, respeito, amor... é o que me transmite
É simplesmente... maravilhoso!
Nunca consigo segurar o choro quando vou ouvir Echoes
Love Pink Floyd one of my favorite bands grew up in 50/60s each album has deep meanings in my life. Oh how i loved the 70s no better time to have lived.
You may be right. Things have taken a turn for the worse since the Seventies. So glad we still have the music.

I suspect you're right
The Best song of all time is "la poderosa muerte" los jaivas band...listen to it
Love…thank you for your awesome music and great memories in my life..🤗❤
My HEART IS FULL ❤❤
Just know the old souls who have long past were brought back from the dead to hear this amazing song!
[Verse 1]
Overhead the albatross hangs motionless upon the air
And deep beneath the rolling waves in labyrinths of coral caves
The echo of a distant time comes willowing across the sand
And everything is green and submarine
[Chorus 1]
And no one showed us to the land
And no one knows the where's or why's
But something stirs and something tries
Starts to climb towards the light
[Verse 2]
Strangers passing in the street
By chance two separate glances meet
And I am you and what I see is me
And do I take you by the hand
And lead you through the land
And help me understand the best I can?
[Chorus 2]
And no one calls us to move on
And no one forces down our eyes
No one speaks and no one tries
No one flies around the sun
[5:10 - 19:00 - Instrumental]
[Verse 3]
Cloudless every day you fall
Upon my waking eyes
Inviting and inciting me to rise
And through the window in the wall
Come streaming in on sunlight wings
A million bright ambassadors of morning
[Chorus 3]
And no one sings me lullabies
And no one makes me close my eyes
So I throw the windows wide
And call to you across the sky.
Summer green
I adore this song to death, it is the nicest treat for my ears, in all my 56 years on this earth... I have heard it thousands upon thousands of times, and I love it now, more than I ever have, it is me.
Brother , your reading my mail. Great comment
I really blessed to listen this legendary song which I ever heard.... & Thanks to my loving senior who introduced to THE GREAT PINK FLOYD.
Perfection! This echoes in my soul for ever...
I was a Senior in High School.
la escucho siempre y cada vez me gusta mas y mas, y siempre le encuentro magia, PINK FLOY por siempre.
It was awesome to grow up in such an honest decade of music. Real Music!
El viejo Pink el viaje perfecto, ojalá mi generación fuera musicalmente culta.
Acaso eres el 0.00001% que escucha pink floyd en 2020?
This and Deep Purple's Made in Japan are my two favourite moments of rock'n'roll. Sublime!
This line up was phenomenal ❤️😍👏🏽
I love this album and is how I got turned on to Pink Floyd and the rest of their catalog of mind bending music.
Me to. Was a lost soul but their beautiful other worldly music helped me hang on.
Il più bel concerto di sempre, suonato da quattro fenomeni inarrivabili. Le anime di Pompei ringraziano!
pink floyd played a social distanceing concert BEFORE IT WAS LAW !
It's not law
pink floyd is beyond law
true visionaries
Corona virus
They were WAY ahead of their time
OUT OF THIS WORLD !!! ONE OF MY FAVOURITE SONGS EVERS
When I first saw this on vhs I was in awe of the sounds of the wide open sky the seriousness of what 4 ppl can create just had to snatch this track from the cosmos into mother earth surface in Pompeii just fabulous!.
At 7:35 is the ultimate Floyd riff. David shredds Rogers groove. Bring the funk!
5:33 One of the greatest guitar solos ever written in the guitar history.
Semplice fantastica
And it was improvised
Thank God I was born in the 70's...And to Know EPIC Bands like Pink Floyd were Their...🤗🤗🤗😍😍😍😘🙏🙏
Also of the 70's and I hope the current and future generations may partake as well.
ONE OF THE MOST PRECIOUS JEWEL OF MUSIC WORLD
best song ever
To think they just rocked up there and started playing with no advertising is both bizarre and amazingly incredible.
Imagine being some kid in Pompei at the time to just happen to pass by and hear music, then to show up and witness history before your eyes.
And then kicked out because this was meant to be done with no living attendees
But the they still stuck around the amphitheater to listen to the music.
so much memories on this amazing unspeechable vision of music and art. thanks pink floyd for visiting planet earth.
I was born in the right generation...
Where great music is available to all.
