@ccougoule hey if it is aspergers then it's best to get him diagnosed asap. i have aspergers and im 16 and i was also obsessed with any type of fan or anything that spun really :)
It's really good of you as a parent to encourage Nate in what he likes. I was also a fan obsessed kid when I was his age (I'm 40 now). I was always disappointed when I got toys. FYI, there's even a club and forums dedicated to fans. Lots of people out there share this obsession.
man this is great. I started collecting when I was 4. I dragged a fasco window fan out of the trash to our house by it's cord. Then I destroyed my Mom's Westinghouse Mobilaire when the motor burned up. I was obsessed, and still am 30 years later.
Hi. My name is Anna. My 4 year old son is also totally OBSESSED with fans. He has been since he could say the word "fan". Sometimes it just seems like it takes over his life. It is all he can talk about. I made my son a fan cake for his fourth birthday. I would love to get our boys together. I am wondering, as your Nate has grown, has his obsession grown stronger, or has it went away?
i remeber going to stores when i was his age (and even a couple years ago too)and making my parents go dwn the fan aisle with me, begging them to buy me one.now i realize i can find even better fans for free or cheap.
I agree. They don’t understand. I used to love fans when I was young and I still do but not as many much as before. One of the reasons why I loved fans was because of the rotations of the blades, it’s very fascinating how they moved. I especially like the 3 bladed fans and my most favorite fan of all was this 120mmm computer fan with 200cfm I bought on eBay to use as a jet engine. A second reason why I loved fans is because of the air they blow at your face, it’s soothing and comfortable and it cools you down a bit when it’s like 10million degrees outside.
We wanted to do a "fan party" for Nate's 3rd birthday, but couldn't find any supplies!! I love that your mom baked a cake. I'm pleasantly surprised at the number of people who tell me they also loved fans from an early age. I know he's learning a lot playing with them. We figure he'll be some sort of engineer.
Agree. Been an autistic person myself. When I was a kid I got great enjoyment from watching liquids flow, fans spinning, the numbers of trains and gathering statistics and doing research to compare here and then.
We were worried about Autism. We had Nate tested and we were told he was fine. He does well socially and academically in school, so we figured it's just a strange hobby.
guys it could be an obsession for fans and thats it even adults collect fans the kids just might simply like fans!!! an obsession is only bad if it takes over daily life leaving nothing else in life.type in vintage fans in you tube theirs children and adults alike who have a facination for them ,its probably the spinning of the blades that attracted the kid to the fans iniatly but hey if thats all it is guys dont worry about it i have a fan collection and im ok
When I was about the same age, I used to drag my parents down the fan isle. Still love fans, but much more knowledgeable about them now. Let me know if you want to know about other fans. I'm still learning myself, but I can try and help out. You should continue to support his love. Even though it's not an everyday thing, it's still cool and unique. Thumbs up.
I love this channel. I know my hobby is slightly different from nates. Still where are you guys located? I work at an electronics recycling facility and just a suggestion, would nate would like the miniature cooling fans that are inside old computer towers :) Cheers- Oliver
my brother is 5, and is diagnosed with high functioning autism and adhd. he acted just like i did when i was little, but i talked like an adult, and he still struggles with words. i am trying to get a diagnosis, but my mom thinks its OCD or adhd. i was obsessed with spinning things, especially fans. i have a fan collection too actually lol. i have NO clue how or if that he;ps in any way but just sayin lol
@ccougoule just don't worry! reminds me of me, but i didn't have any to collect... Fans --> propellers --> airplanes -->I'm an Aeronautical engineer now... :-)... hope Nate will be as lucky as me to get this far... !
True. If you do want an air conditioner but you don't want to waste too much money. You can get an air cooler but the device can cost around a hundred pounds so they can be quite expensive
Wow. I wonder why people are obsessed with fans. Like seriously?! They're just regular electric fans designed to cool you down not to collect. Wow. I'm totally cringed. by this.
It's an autism thing. People tend to get attached to things at a young age like me or, like this one here. They eventually start collections of things like this. It's normal.
My childhood vids

people these days don't really get the concept of "air conditioners"😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑
I mean this video is from frickin 2007.
Be happy to be in a country with air conditioners over here a fan is the only helper in summer
Using a fan is more cost effective than air conditioning, it's expensive to have air conditioning.
True. If you do want an air conditioner but you don't want to waste too much money. You can get an air cooler but the device can cost around a hundred pounds so they can be quite expensive

I always thought it was weird. Like a kid being obsessed with machines that push air in one direction just makes me go "what the hell?"
I like them too, But you shouldn't judge people by this.
