I have a weird feeling about MSU this season. They return 21 starters. It’s like this unit is a new era. That radio guy is right, nothing had gone really well since the Bama game. 2016 was a terrible year, Dantonio’s worst. 2017 was a great rebound year with a very, very... very young team, but I don’t think 10 wins is good enough for MSU these days. 2017 it was, just because of what happened in 2016. This season though... the Big Ten is loaded, and Michigan State dodges Wisconsin, and gets OSU and UM at home. They win those and they can afford to drop a game to Penn State. Out of the 5 great teams in the Big Ten, I feel like PSU will be the weakest. So I don’t see them coming out of the east, I think even if MSU losses that road game to Penn State, it won’t hurt the Spartans, because Penn State will have lost too many games to threaten for the Eastern Division, I think MSU wins the east.
As a long, long time fan, I disagree - 10 wins is MORE than enough - the rest is gravy. As a coach or player, nothing should be enough but hoisting that trophy. But I will never bee like UM or OSU fans who get angry because great is not great enough to make them happy. I'll take great, and trust the guys to give it all to be even greater.

One of the factors that makes the Big Ten the best conference in college football is the coaching. Think about it! Illinois is the preseason pick to finish last in the West and their coach was a pretty decent NFL Coach.
Broccoli Celery Sticks the B1G east is just teams beating each other out. OSU beats PSU and MSU, somehow dominated by Iowa (and lost to Oklahoma). MSU beats PSU, loses to OSU. PSU loses to MSU and OSU. As for Wisconsin, they just had to beat OSU but didn’t. it’s competitive but of course the playoffs were out of reach because of this. I think the SEC is a great conference but Bama and UGA overpower their sides of the division.
Broccoli Celery Sticks SEC had the best team with Team Saban granted. Georgia is now elite (has to do it for more than a season though. Auburn is Very Good! LSU has potential. Big Ten has 5 Top 15 teams. And then teams like Nebraska, Iowa, and Northwestern who can sting you! Its a gauntlet. Bowl record was 7-1. A collapse away from 8-0. Alabama being the Best Team in College Football doesn’t make the SEC the best conference.
The problem with the big ten is that you’re never safe (cuz u have 5 of the top 10 in the conference, let alone 4 in the east). Obviously Ohio state and Michigan are poised to be the best because of their recruiting classes. But MSU always stays within top 25 recruiting so when u have to play at east lansing, it’s always tough. As I was saying, Michigan and Ohio state are not going undefeated, probably not even 1 loss because of their schedule. And then u have this underrated underdog MSU who gets a favorable schedule against OSU and UofM making it relatively easy to go 1 loss in the conference, which would mean they would probably win the east. What makes it so "delusional" ? Because MSU has dominated for the most part the last ten years? Most of us grew up and watched for decades where a MSU victory was a huge upset and very few and far between. The last 11 years MSU has won 8 but that was their total victories for the previous 40 years before 2008. Now U of M has 2 out 3 which could go either way from here.So no its not "delusional". What actually is finally a rivalry was for most of our lives pretty much a formality with a surprise here and there. You want to say we live in the past that's fine because we have a successful one and MSU has had some great success before 2008 but it was very spotted and unsustained. Ten years from now regardless of who wins what are you going to not talk about what MSU did from 2008 to 2016? My guess is no because its your most year after year successful time.

Yes, MSU has had their way with the Wolverines since Dantonio's arrival. And I honestly think that MD is a very good coach. I don't like him...but you cannot deny that he knows how to motivate his team, for the most part. But here's the thing. Since most Spartan fans find it convenient to only discuss the last decade or so, I find it equally convenient to only discuss what has happened since 2012. And since then, MSU has won 4 and lost 3. A better record...yeah...but not that much better. And as Jarrod said, two of the last three belong to Michigan, with both wins in East Lansing. Now all of that to say this: I like where this rivalry is now. It hasn't always been fun (from my perspective), but it has been entertaining. I think it's good for both programs, and I think it's good for the Big Ten East. I wish the Spartans luck in their last 5 games, and I hope they do go to a bowl game and win (preferably against an SEC team). Go Blue!
