    Absolutely in love with Mr. Paich and all his work-including Toto!
    To think he’s only 10 years older than I am and to have accomplished so much blows me away!

    Hey Jon, thanks again for another great post but one of the greatest musicians from one of the greatest bands EVER! I'm 56 years old and I grew up in the San Fernando valley and I was BLESSED to have had an ongoing friendship with the Porcaro family as well as Mr David Paich since 1985 when we first met backstage at The universal amphitheater during their Isolation tour. It was a huge deal for me to meet my heroes but I have to say it was mind-blowing to actually become friends with them. I honestly can't think of any other talented musicians who are nicer and funnier than these guys! They have absolutely NO EGO OR ATTITUDE about themselves and as a starryeyed 18 year old would welcome me with a huge hug which still to this day means the world to me! David Paich is a SUPREME BAD ASS on keyboards and it's a shame that MORE people aren't aware of f this FACT! I have nothing but good brotherly love for David!

    John, I can’t tell you how much I enjoy your interviews with the musicians who made the music. I was that kid, (66 now), who read all the liner notes on every album, I knew what musicians where on each song. Thanks to you and the internet we can hear how it all came to be. Thank you again.

    I've heard this sort of thing quite a few times...
    So, Neil Diamond asked Dave Paich to play for him during a tour. Also Elton John, Miles Davis, Joni Mitchell and Bob Seger wanted Steve Lukather in on their tours. Brice Springsteen and Dire Straits wanted Jeff Porcaro on their tours. - It underlines that there's something special about the members of Toto when well established, high profile, highly successful artists not only tap the members of that band to play sessions on their albums but also invite them to be members of their touring bands as well. Pretty heroic.

    Paich has had a hand in so much of the music of my life. He and the rest of his Toto bandmates are just so talented.

    Look up videos on Joan Baez’ Diamonds and Rust tour. That’s Mike Sherwood with her. They would break out with an Archie and Edith Bunker routine. I must have been 17 when she did a free concert during the tour at Monterey Peninsula College. I remember that routine but I never knew who Mike Sherwood was until the last few years.

      @@thorpenator9148 . . . That is why almost all of
      ‘The Neil Diamond Band’ members have played and stayed with Neil from as far back as 1971 to 2015. The ‘new recruits’ - ‘only’ played in his band from 1982 to 2015, in the greatness that was the late, Ronnie Tutt on drums (played for two fellows before Neil;
      a Mr. Presley and a Mr. Orbison) and the amazing Hadley Hockensmith on guitars.
      Neil’s tour crew also stayed unswervingly loyal to Neil for up to FOUR plus decades - also. Too numerous to mention, but ever-present on tour.
      As a long-time follower of Neil, I always made it into the concert halls here in the U. K. where I was blessed to obtain tickets for, to ask, most often, local staff about their ‘take’
      on the set-up, the sound check and any dealings they may have had … never heard anything but compliments and high praise about ALL involved with ‘Neil Diamond in Concert’. Including Neil himself, taking time to speak with some of the local security, as well as others. He is very well known for his
      consideration and good manners.
