    Great looking CL77 & CL350 Scramblers and I even saw an early CB750-4! The 70's were the heydays of affordable commuter bike everywhere!

    Hoo Boy! I remember riding in a $20 open face helmet and a ski jacket! What were we thinking? I really enjoyed watching this video. Pretty much the same way Reefer Madness is entertaining. 15 minute video with about 30 seconds of actually useful information.

    Man,, cool bikes with chrome fenders, see that CL450 honda. I saw a F7 kawasaki in the mix, DT Yamaha, at 64 Im still on two wheels , my Harley was totaled by a failure to yield on a yellow, I am on a 2017 Africa Twinn DCT and loving it. Remembering the old days of 70's.

    Still relevant today though; when I used to ride I wasn't Superman I was the invisible man, and mind always "What's the stupidist thing anyone around me can do" and prepared for it. That didn't prepare me for the hit and run driver that didn't notice me turning left ahead of him and totaled my '71 BSA Lightning then squealed tires away from there, I thought it was my fiancee (at the time) behind me. No lasting damage 40 years later other than occasional pain in my right leg under the right weather conditions. Today's riders could learn a lot from us old timers but they are as hard headed as we were at that age. EG Loud pipes suck, running from the cops is stupid (man up and take the ticket if you deserve it, lane splitting is a good way to die, etc etc.)

      @lwilton 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nowadays we know better. You don't need any of that silly stuff.
      Just straight pipes and a 15 degree retarded spark to shoot flames out the pipes and break windows with the noise, while not being able to accelerate at a dangerous rate.

      l wilton LOL Good one! And don’t forget about the mandatory awesome vibration required to maximize the performance, excitement and whole general experience of riding by rattling everything loose on the machine, and man also. It was always a good ride when multiple nuts and bolts came loose, cracked a mirror occasionally, and your whole body was completely numb from the engine vibration and it felt like you just worked out.

    Tip's at Castaic Junction @10:27. Indian Dunes track. Piru. Hwy 126 before they began widening it in the 80s. Brings back memories. Though I started riding in the 70s, I didnt see this film until I took a moto-specific traffic school in 85-86. Didnt seem that old then =)

    The first accident I saw as a kid in '62 was like the one @3:47 except the bike was a Triumph and the car was a '58 Rambler wagon. Guess who won.

    Everything that I was taught and that I eventually taught others in the 1960's with the RAC/ACU Motorcycle |Training Scheme. It was run by good natured volunteers and ran for 2 hours every sunday morning for about 13 weeks. That's 26 hours of training and gave us all good grounding in motorcycle safety.
    It's a pity it was stopped in the early 1970's as a result of governments interventions with regards to motorcycle training becoming a professional occupation and that meant that if any organisation was to be payed for such training then it needed to be registered and regulated with the DSA and that costs money. Money that the RAC/ACU didn't have so it closed the doors and it's never been done since.

    "Shocking pink" biker clothes 3:30. Right. It's a favorite color of all your major biker gangs. Hell's Angel's would never think of showing up to a gang fight without their shocking pink leathers and Hello Kitty helmets.

    I have 36 years of moto experience. The reality of riding a motorcycle is this: "If you get into a traffic accident- IT"S YOUR FAULT! Car drivers are inherently low functioning people and you have to assume that every one of them woke up, today, with an urge to kill you. You must drive in a state of paranoid. If you ride beyond your ability and run off the road or into something, that is your fault, too.

    Loud pipes save lives!! or, strap on a S&W .357 Magnum... even in a breakaway shoulder holster... suddenly, almost miraculously drivers can see you 10 blocks away (even the blue-hairs that can barely see over the dashboard of their Cadillac).... alternatively, assume every cage driver is an idiot (or an asshole)

    And don't forget to "counter steer" ... Yep.. To turn left, lean left and PUSH on the left grip... Washington state drivers manual.,,, Please dress for the crash when learning to do this ... LOL

    • @ClayLoomis1958
      @ClayLoomis1958 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The manual isn't wrong. If you're cruising along on a 600 pound bike and try to turn left by pushing on the right grip, you're going to get high-sided. You lean left and push *GENTLY* on the left grip to start your bike leaning left, then start pushing on the right grip when your weight is balanced for a left hand turn. It's a very subtle movement. You wouldn't notice it if watching someone do it, but that's how it works.
