  • Wow, this song was quite funny with some lyrics, but hearing what the song is about, it really makes me feel sad. Loving the Manics, and they're great work!
    Thanks for watching!

I'm so glad you read about what the song is about rather than just doing a reaction to it. Manics songs are such lyrical masterpieces and often under appreciated so it's good you're showing interested!
Definitely recommend listening to 4st. 7lb off the Holy Bible next!
Also, thank you so much for reacting to MSP, one of my all time favourite bands! Oh, and listen to Sleepflower off the Gold Against the Soul album, and often forgotten about Manics song and has one of the best riffs ever written! Keep up the excellent vids man! Much love ❤

Far too dark for us American ears. Same with ifwhiteamericatoldthetruthforonedayitsworldwouldfallapart

The album cover is a Jenny Saville painting called ‘Strategy’. Little baby nothing would be a good Manics reaction.

I remember first playing the cassette of this on holiday in 1994 in the Norfolk Broads of all places! it was bleak, cold and seemed to fit the mood! just on hearing the opener Yes did it for me, you just knew The Holy Bible was going to be special. I had a feeling after seeing the song titles appear in the then amazing Melody Maker and N.M.E.

My mum originally posed for the front cover but was turned down for being to gross 😝

This album is pretty hard going theme wise but is an absolute masterpiece! (Also, to my ear, I hear Hemispheres era Rush creeping around in the background - the slowed down sound you hear on 4st 7lbs for example).

I’ve had this album in my possession since 1994, when I was 13 and I’ve listened to this song countless times and even I learned new things about this song. Didn’t know there was an American mix, I’m British and sure that was the British version you played as I never noticed any difference to the version I’m familiar with. It would be good to hear some analysis of the rest of the album.

Yes same here, I was 14 and ‘yes’ was the first manics song I heard.

THe 10 year anniversary of Holy Bible had both the UK and USA mix, the USA mix is brilliant and all the members were shocked at how good it was. The only songs that aren't as good are Faster and This is Yesterday for me.
