    All how-to and recipe videos could learn from this man. Straightforward, to the point. No extra filler and it actually works.

    Perfect Video!!!! Short, to the point and had all of the relevant information. No unnecessary chit chat, and wasted time telling us about the weather conditions etc. And no music or flashy introduction like you are a network television series. No ego.....Thanks man!.

    After I removed everything from the handle I still couldn't get the rod out. Came in, watched your video and had the job done in seconds. Thanks for an excellent video.

    This video was by far the simplest and easiest method to do this that I have seen. Others seem to go after the wrong end which requires extra disassembly/reassembly. I also liked your idea of using using the open end wrench for a disassembly pry bar. For reassembly I ussd I used a nail puller instead of a putty knife under the rod end, but same idea. Also, others have videos full of nothing but arms and elbows. I could actually see what you were doing. Nice job and many thanks.

    Yes John and you are a man with strong fingers and strong hands and know how to make use of tools for other applications than which they were intended to be used. I imagine you can repair about anything. Thanks so much.

    Thank you! I couldn’t get the new spring in with the scraper tool so I put the locking pliers back on and use a giant screwdriver against it to pop it back in. Saved me a lot of aggravation! I’m guessing these springs fail often because Toro website is out of them and aftermarket ones on Amazon were $6 each so ya I bought a two pack. Everything costs more now.
    Anyway, again thanks so much. Self propel back in action and a new blade on the way. Better than buying a new mower! 👍🏻

    Here's a step that can make the process much easier. Remove the knob on the right side handle near the engine and pull the handle to away from the lawnmower and stick a piece of 1-2" wood to keep it that way. It will make it much easier to pry out and put back the bar.

    This was a bigger struggle than I expected and took well over an hour but I finally got it. I didn’t have spring pliers, had to use vice grips which are wider and probably were in the way. I only had success after going back to the tool box and getting the biggest open end wrench I had to pry with, couldn’t get enough leverage with a smaller one. This task requires quite a bit of force and some strength.

    Good simple method, but the bar on my mower must be a little long because prying it out was extremely hard for me. And once I was finally able to get it out I was afraid there was no way to simply push it back in...so I took the opportunity to hack saw off an 1/8" of the bar. Shortening the bar made pushing it back in doable and should make getting it out again look more like the video...and I'm sure there will be another time since the spring that came on the mower didn't last two seasons.

    John you never explain why you needed to replace the torsion spring....what does that fix in personal pace......IS it the return of the personal pace when you let it go.

    • @markymark8665
      @markymark8665 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The end breaks off and then the handle won’t return by itself. It’s the end that goes into the plastic handle not the end with the hook.

    Can anyone please share a picture of where the right side of the spring (the side without the hook) links into?

    • @ninemilliondollars
      @ninemilliondollars 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I replace mine today. On the right-side inner handle is a spot where a platice nub, so to speak, sticks through. It's in the shape of a Phillips screwdriver. Mine hooked on there. If you don't have that or it won't hook, go to the home improvement store and find a new one on display and check that. Or ask at a local Toro repair store.

    • @mics3747
      @mics3747 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks ninemillionsdollars, I also wondered if the right side of spring should go in next to the plastic nub.

  • @handyman8494

    I should of done it your way instead of the other side where the other piece broke the plastic.....
