If you aren't experienced at taking apart electronics, then just send it in, seriously. Dropping a screw in the wrong place, tapping the screwdriver in the wrong spot, getting a static shock around the circuit board are all little things that can ruin your day if you aren't careful... that said:
Today I repair a Camera that has loose screws under the flash mount / hot shoe. The screws are located INSIDE the camera, but not too deep...
I was able to do it with a small screwdriver and a plastic pry tool. It took about 20 minutes but does require a Steady Hand and PATIENCE.
