Bru i also have a 1.6L 16v BUT i am unsure if i have the 4afe engine or 4age engine so i want to ask how can i confirm the engine model as of course the cam cover is not helpful as it says exactly the same as yours here hehe, any help would be appreciated and for what it's worth i ran 170kph with room to go the other day Gps confirmed i'd just like more acceleration out of mine over top end.
My Ae92 16 valve 4af do 14.8km/L with AC on. what I did is distributor timing and all ported vacuum hoses are put on the right place, before that I don't have thermostat installed on my car and it does 9-11KM/L. So I bought thermostat with thermo switch sensor and learned that being "rekta" have a huge factor on fuel consumption. also if you're car operates on the right temperature. And make sure to put the right tire pressure on your tires, and also driving habbit. Is the number 1 factor of poor fuel consumption make sure that you change gear on the right rpm. What I do to save fuel is when ever my engine hits 2k rpm I change gear. Hope this will help you.
The normal 4afe version only goes up to 7000 rpm. The one in this video is a twin cam 4age engine, which is the performance counterpart the 4afe engine and can go above 8000 rpm. However, it is also important to know that even though the 4age has more horsepower than the 4afe, the 4afe has more torque which makes it superior to the 4age for normal everyday driving while the 4age is only better for racing.
