My window stopped working (motor has power but won’t move) and so me and my dad took the panels off and holes were cut where the bolts were. Those holes had started to rust and just be not clean and it looks exactly like the holes you showed
Yep, this isn't an uncommon repair for these cars, it's interesting to see how they had been done in the past. I've seen some ragged prior repair, and correct some badly done ones. That's the nature of restoration!
My 86 El Camino has power locks that don’t work is there any way you can do a video showing how to fix them or how the power windows are connected? Any information will be helpful. Thanks!
I'll add that to the list of things to cover. The best place to start is with a good wiring diagram and start working through it. Odds are, it's probably the switch.
That's very possible, or it's binding up on something that's come loose on the linkage. I've replaced both window motors on that Monte Carlo, and it made me really want to replace the ones on my El Camino!
I would need to go check, I believe there's 3 points that hold the motor in. The little guard thing on one side of the motor might be bent and not let go of the window's gear. You may need to loosen with a small wrench.
@SnowFamilyRacing yes I followed your video. Did it all But the motor itself doesn't seem to wiggle freely at all still. Like it's still attached to a bracket or the gear ⚙️ is just stuck on it tight and I just can't seem to figure out how to wiggle it loose
@SnowFamilyRacing I figured it out, so the regulator and the bracket that's attached to it. The gear gets pressed into that center hole to align it. I had to get a screwdriver in between that and the old motor came out easy. Now I will say the new motors I got I had to drill a bigger hole on the regulator where it bolts into 4 places onto that bracket. But other than that no issues. I gotta run to the store to get some grease for these gears before I put the driver one back in atleast.
No, I do not. It's pretty easy, though. Once you take the intetior door panel off, there's two studs through the door skin you can take the mirror off from there and tighten the head of the mirror with 2 screws from the bottom of the pedestal.

My window on my driver side stops half way and won't go back up I can hear motor motor working do you think it's a bad motor

So is there any thing that comes to mind if the motor itself wont come loose off the big gear? I even drilled out the 2 rivets near the 3 main bolts.

@@SnowFamilyRacing appreciate the feedback regardless 🙏
Aside from loosening the guard and all 3 points, I don't have anything off the top of my head that I can say to check.

My dad just gave me the family 86 monte. The driver side, side view mirror is loose. Do you have a video on how to fix that ?

@@SnowFamilyRacing awesome thank you for that
Your passenger window is SO slow. How slow is it Snowman? It's so slow they had to change the name of your Monte Carlo to Nova.
It's far better after the new motor!
