Watching a video that's five years old and reading comments 1 or 2 years old that other singer's version was better. Of course it would be much better because those version were recent. This one's 5 years ago and Ailee its still a rookie. She improved a lot lately and I hope she'll do another version of this iconic song.
Ailee doesn't have a husky voice like JiYoung so ofc it will seem like she lacks emotion. Most people with a HUSKY voice generally sounds very emotional when they sing. Both are great singers.

Even tho both of them have the same voice type... (Light-Lyric Soprano) Ailee has more powerful, agility and range. While Baek has more has a lighter and huskier voice.
I think Ailee put a lot of emotion in this song, it's just that baek jiyoung puts 400% of her emotions into a song and since it was her song, compared to her, Ailee sounded like she "lacked" emotion as other put it.
Actually Ailee can sing many different genres, even like this. She will pull it off. Maybe cz Baek Jiyoung herself is such a great singer, with such deep and great emotions, Ailee was seen to not have the same level of it. In terms of age and experience, Ailee's emotion is still raw and innocent? Whereelse Baek, she has gone thru so much! :) tHATS what i think
