Humanity: successfully makes the galaxy think they’re far weaker than they are, and expects them to help them fight. Galaxy: refuses to help fight because they know FROM DIRECT EXPERIENCE that civilizations of humanity’s apparent capabilities stand no chance. Humanity: turns into Donald Trump and blames the galaxy for their problems rather than realizing that we never gave them any reason to expect that things could be different. Seriously, the whole “we’re secretly stronger than we let on” cliche is absurdly stupid under these circumstances. We’re under attack and about to be wiped out, why the hell would we EVER be pulling our punches, even if we do have help!? There’s no logic there!
The galaxy leaving humanity to die IS absolutely something that they should be ashamed of, leaving people to die simply because you don’t see their worth is just disgusting, it has nothing to do with trump and everything to do with what’s right and wrong. Likely if this happened in reality humanity would die quickly but you can’t deny that we would absolutely not be above using any and everything we have at our disposal to at-least do as much damage as possible. If we were to win though why should we accept them back into an alliance with us? Why so they can abandon us again?
Your comprehension of the story is as poor as your political commentary. Earth wasn't "pulling its punches" the weapon technology they used was banned by the coalition. Earth developed it in secret because they weren't supposed to develop it at all.
