I think that you dont know that the royal guards are elites, they are very professional but they have to keep their roles, they are far more specialiesed at protecting the quen. For all those saying they would have shot the man you need to remember that one of the most important aspects of potentially lethal force is the backstop. You might have noticed the large crowd, it would be too easy to send a round straight into it from their position. Non-lethal was definitely the right answer here in my opinion. If they are considered good enough they get offered the chance to be a guard here for 6 months (or something like that). Its a massive honor in Denmark.

Why didn't the Guards react? I was in the German Guard battalion, as we were standing guard at the guard house in Berlin during the memorial day some dude threw rocks at us, the officer charged at the attacker and took him down til the standing around soldiers like me and later the police arrested him, then he marched back to his Guards, how it should be.
The guards at the royal palaces in Denmark are by tradition conscripts. They go through the same training as the conscripts in all other Danish regiments but in half the time, and that includes training for their guards duties. That's why the regiment is notoriously disciplined and the training hard. After 4.5 months of training as infantry soldiers, they move to barracks in Copenhagen, where they serve as guardsmen to the royal family. In that time, they spend a week every month with continued training as infantry soldiers, at some training facility elsewhere in Denmark.
Many years ago I served as a conscripted guard at the Swedish Royal Palace at Drottningholm where the Royal Family lives, and we had one nutjob, a woman who turned out to be non-violent, but she showed up in the middle of the night and tried to get into the sealed off area of the Palace. The thing is, one never knows who is harmless but mentally unstable, who is dangerous, who is just drunk and annoying etc. Although we don't see the buildup of this situation, it appears to have been a very swift an "clean" takedown by the Police officer, good work.

We are not, we are trained to deal with threats with shooting being the absolute last option, we do a lot of combat training to learn to subdue opponents before ever using our rifle

We carried 5 rounds each, 1 in the chamber 4 in the mag and the NCO or officer in charge of the watch carried a fully loaded pistol instead of a rifle. But a lot can change in 5 years and there are probably very different protocols between the royal guard and normal guard duty in the regular army.
The guards were under command - and since the police officers had the situation sorted, no need for the guards to act independently, which they are allowed to do if a situaltion arises.

Formation is nothing if it's about stopping an intruder. If he would have kept going to the entrance, the 2 guard not on formation, would kept him eyeing with the rifle and sabre.

Why didn't the Guards react? I was in the German Guard battalion, as we were standing guard at the guard house in Berlin during the memorial day some dude threw rocks at us, the officer charged at the attacker and took him down til the standing around soldiers like me and later the police arrested him, then he marched back to his Guards, how it should be.

Useless guards who are just trained to stand still and do NOTHING when threats come their way.
The guards at the royal palaces in Denmark are by tradition conscripts. They go through the same training as the conscripts in all other Danish regiments but in half the time, and that includes training for their guards duties. That's why the regiment is notoriously disciplined and the training hard. After 4.5 months of training as infantry soldiers, they move to barracks in Copenhagen, where they serve as guardsmen to the royal family. In that time, they spend a week every month with continued training as infantry soldiers, at some training facility elsewhere in Denmark.
Many years ago I served as a conscripted guard at the Swedish Royal Palace at Drottningholm where the Royal Family lives, and we had one nutjob, a woman who turned out to be non-violent, but she showed up in the middle of the night and tried to get into the sealed off area of the Palace. The thing is, one never knows who is harmless but mentally unstable, who is dangerous, who is just drunk and annoying etc. Although we don't see the buildup of this situation, it appears to have been a very swift an "clean" takedown by the Police officer, good work.

What i dont understand is why the guards didnt react other than looking at him, they have full authorization to apprehend him, instead the police had to get him first.
They could've shot him if he got to them. They also had their backs turned, and only got a look at what was happening after he was apprehended py the officer
You cannot shoot someone just for attacking unarmed they would have laid him out on the floor and given him the taste of a rifle butt...
It's just mote convenient to have the professional police handle it, since they would be the ones who get transferred the prisoner over afterwards. In Denmark we want the police to handle things if possible

We are not, we are trained to deal with threats with shooting being the absolute last option, we do a lot of combat training to learn to subdue opponents before ever using our rifle

@@thething9617 Where did you serve? I was a conscript in the royal guards from 2017-2018. Back then we carried nine rounds in the mag and 1 in the chamber, the bag, however, was purely ceremonial; that changed in 2019 I think.

We carried 5 rounds each, 1 in the chamber 4 in the mag and the NCO or officer in charge of the watch carried a fully loaded pistol instead of a rifle. But a lot can change in 5 years and there are probably very different protocols between the royal guard and normal guard duty in the regular army.

The Royal Guards protects the queen and the police protect the gaurds.
The guards were under command - and since the police officers had the situation sorted, no need for the guards to act independently, which they are allowed to do if a situaltion arises.
And the guards are allowed to open fire, if necessary.
