I’ve only just started after procrastinating for over a year. I have one item listed under my eBay name Nannasrevival but I will be listing more. I will be charging for postage for now while I get established after not selling for some time.
Hi Matt, Interesting excercise for the health check. Active listing sales price is $34.44 - Average sale price for the year is $23.26... So completely the wrong direction and appears only my cheap stuff is selling. Got a lot of work ahead of me and certainly starting to feel a little disillusioned by it all, however determined not to go back to a 9 to 5 so will have to suck it up. In addition to this I am finding stock harder and harder to come by. It makes a small seller wonder if they can continue. In terms of Aus Post, we can only control the things we can control. For me, I have been sending out sales under $18 untracked and haven't had an issue so far. I think I may have to lift that to $20 to mitigate the price hike. I know you don't do this anymore so unhelpful I guess but that's what I will have to do. I'm sure a lot of us are feeling a bit flat after Aus Post rises, I certainly am, but gotta keep trekking. Let's hope we can keep trekking for the long term and not get squeezed out.
I used to send everything untracked letter rate, loss rate that I refunded was less than half a percent of shipments, delays received without needing to refund were about 2-3 times that depending on the month. All printed addresses, no handwriting. With your cost of goods per letter item being as low as a couple of dollars it makes more financial sense to send everything untracked and wear the loss for any claim of non delivery, with the only customer service task being asking to wait another 3-4 days if someone says it hasn't arrived. Having a tracked letter offsets having no padded packaging, what you gain with one customer because they see tracking you lose with another because the item isn't protected in shipping. On a $20 video game if it doesn't arrive you don't lose $20, you lose the cost of goods and post cost. BUT - I would also recommend using part tracked letters for some higher risk addresses, like a business address in a shopping centre, or CBD office block, or a high unit number where there are obviously lots of mailboxes for that street address.
Hey Matt :) I don’t 100% understand the ‘free shipping model’. I think the purpose of eBay is to find things you can’t find easily, and for good prices. So when I find things on eBay I want, I’m happy to pay the postage. I do a lot of online shopping in general and it’s very common to pay for shipping for any order under $100 at least. Would you consider a model where shoppers had to spend say $50 to get free shipping? That might also encourage them to purchase multiple items. Love your content 😊
Hey kate thanks so much for watching and your comment. Free postage is just a pricing position. I put the cost of the postage into the buy it now price so I'm not actually paying the postage myself, the buyer still pays it's just in the buy it now price :)
Thanks for addressing the issue of increased postage costs. Considering you can post a single dvd in Australia for $3 untracked in a paper envelope with 2 stamps ($1.50 x 2), maybe offer your customers free post untracked and a postage charge for tracked. Let the customer choose and pay accordingly. Bubble wrap option: make friends with retailers in shopping centres that receive stock in bubble wrap ( homewares, new shop fittings, giftware, lighting, furniture etc.) They are usually happy for you to collect it for free. Maybe a flier delivered to shops would encourage them to save their bubble wrap for you if you schedule a regular pickup roster that suits both of you. Also some building companies transport large mirrors, appliances and fittings in bubble wrap and the tradies just discard once item is installed. Any free bubble wrap is good bubble wrap😀

Hi Matt, I totally agree with the postage continually going up and hurting sales/profit. I'm very small scale, so I don't really use free shipping unless I'm selling something pretty expensive (eg. big bundle of books). It will affect me in the end as well, as I feel people don't want to pay a huge amount for shipping - I try to max charge $15 for shipping most times even if it costs me more. I spoke to Aus Post about this not long ago, noticing prices have gone up a couple of times in a short span of time. She suggested buying a lot of bulk so that the next round won't affect me. I know you send heaps, so that would be a big hit (eg. if you bought 3000 bags now). I'm going to keep going, just because this is a hobby for me and I only do it in my spare time. Good luck!
@@EmeraldHill-vo1cs Yeah, unfortunately I don't have a printer and the satchels are just the easiest for me in my current situation. I am considering moving to Sendle though in the near future.
I very rarely use the tracked envelopes but bought a chunk last week before the increase. You just need to send them untracked. I would lose maybe 1 in 100 but would save hundreds more in postage cost.
$25 tracked. Seems to work okay, even if you get one scam every 50 sales you're offsetting that loss easily with the cost of tracking @@TheAussieFlipper
Postage costs are a killer that's for sure....ive been selling dvds for years now and I always do untracked large latter's for a single dvd...ive only had one go missing in 10 years or so...and I refunded....I figure I'll risk it...if I have to refund a dvd every now and then its worth it to save on postage....I also refuse to pay for packing supplies....my local bunnings is 2 mins away.....they know I'm only there to raid the boxes...as for bubble wrap and tape I'm on a few of the free pages on Facebook and am regularly getting leftover packing tape and bubblewrap from housemoves for free.... also if you go in to your local windscreen places....many still take delivery of their windscreens in bubble wrap so I pay them a visit ...they usually will put a heap aside and then call me.....I can't remember the last time I paid for packing stuff....
I pulled out about a year ago due to the price rises in AUS post and the op shops. The profit just isn't there anymore. I have no idea how anyone is still making a living reselling on eBay 😭
Sadly, i will be doing the same... I have overheard Opp shops on the phones talking about the price they will put on an item equal to eBay price! ... how is that a charity when they are selling at eBay's prices... I guess the low wage earners won't buy from Opp shops soon.
@@jamckeefurther to this, I know resellers in close contact with op shop management and they are now getting trained in how to use google lens and ebay to price accordingly... It's honestly sickening, a retail store covered up by the sign of an "opportunity shop." Reselling in Australia is nearly dead.
I have never offered free shipping in my store and I have no worries at all with sales unfortunately with the free shipping does cut into the profit a bit price of post is crazy
100% I price my stuff the same as someone who has free shipping, and it still sells, I actually charge more to cover materials, time etc for example if shipping costs $10.80 in a 500g satchel, ill charge $12 and stuff sells no problems plus you still get level 5 discount to go towards ebay fees
The postage increase will severely impact on comics and small books like Footrot Flats too... who wants to pay $8.14 in post for a low value item? It's actually more if we're going to factor in eBay's 15% fees.... Gonna have to do more bulk listings!
Suggested option for posting two DVD’s, Game discs under 2cm thick: Registered Post Prepaid Labels Box of 5 = $4.41 ea. Tough Bag Size 4 Box of 200 = .59c ea. Cost per “envelope” = $5.00 ps. Also suggest you ask at the post office for a letter gauge so you can ensure your “envelope” is fitting through the slot. Also use the guide to insure your “envelope” is within the large letter size! $38,000 US Dollars listed and currently 1220 items listed. ASP is $35 and the average of the current items listed is $32. My only thing is alot of the "BOLO" items people talk about don't sell for me. I'm sitting on Peter Millar, Travis Mathew, Johnnie O Polo's plus tons of other stuff I see TH-camr's selling. And I get it some of them have a huge following and people rather spend $30 for something in their store rather than $20 in mine for the same thing but it is frustrating.
The store differential rate is really helpful! Mine is almost identical (80c difference! Store price is $44.81 and sold price is $44.03) so I'm happy with that because I've been working to pick better items and I leave so much stuff behind these days. I've been mentally preparing to get rid of at least 50 items from my store soon that are items that are the last of a bulk lot I bought and I can't even move them for $5 each. Trying to get my average sale price to over $50 so I think moving this stock and some other stuff out will help with that. Thanks for the info dude!
Very hard when you’re trying to offer a premium service. Ever thought of just charging $1.99 for postage and still send tracked? I know you offer free postage aspect but that could be an alternative.
@@TheAussieFlipper I sent a VHS tape to the UK yesterday, and postage cost $33. The tape was only worth $8. Seriously considering not doing international sales anymore.
That health trick is so good! I don't have a lot of room to keep inventory, so my average selling price and store listing price are lower than most people, but between the 2 there is only about a 80 cent difference. Every item the buyer pays shipping and I rarely use the free shipping option.
Any tips for someone starting out and wanting to sell internationally ? do you have a particular freight company you recommend? do you only factor in free shipping if its a smaller item ?
I have an average sale price of $121.58 with an average store listing of $149.72. Guess that’s just taking lower offers always have room to move in my pricing
Great video and very informative about costs for shipping. It is concerning and I can understand how it will affect sellers. You found some good bargains that should sell well too.
Thanks for the tip on checking performance Matt. I'm running a small ebay store, but my first quarter sales (x71) have averaged at $60.72. Listing quality items certainly does pay off.
Matt, You should consider passing that postage price increase on to your buyers. Add the increase $1.20 + 20% for ebay fee's & handling costs = $1.45 postage cost to all of your individual DVD & video game listings... I have postage costs on more than half of my listings & buyers don't mind paying it! Definitely consider it. It's a small extra amount for a buyer to pay. If you don't want to add a "postage cost", increase your item prices by the amount. Start letting the buyer absorb the cost.
Don’t worry about the Australia Post increase, just send DVDs, CDs, Games, untracked . . . the vast majority of eBayers are doing the right thing, if not block them, simple!
I think Sendle will have to provide us with an option to send DVD’s / Games for a low fee. This will ultimately drive competition and hopefully put a downwards pressure on postage charges.
Sendle have a limited reach! I’ve used them to deliver a large tent, that Aus Post wouldn’t take. But, that was Melbourne to Sydney. Other eBay sales weren’t covered by Sendle‘s delivery areas.
The small auspost bubble mailers pay for themselves if you buy in bulk. They are only like 5cm smaller in length than a medium polymailer, but you're only paying the small rate. I saved heaps on post by buying these.
works for all sizes, can get so much more in a padded mailer versus it's same size satchel, trick is to buy them at minimum 100 at a time for max discount
Hey I might have missed it but what is your percentage for postage on eBay from sales. I keep going from Aust post business account to EBay sending me offers say for cheap postage . My percentage is very high for postage of sales. Yes contemplating the box issue all the time ..I write in my about section I use recycled package materials now. Big issue for us all. Yes changed from eBay to marketplace for vhs and dvd not worth it anymore for sales unless I have a series ect. . Good video thanks still trying hang on what can be a wild ride for smaller sellers on eBay. Have a great week
90% of my sales are sent lettermail, but thats due to the nature of selling small collectibles. I will ship most anything under 30 dollars without tracking, and if the buyer has high feedback with no other issues id consider sending an item 50 or under at the letter rate. To track light small items for me here in Canada is anywhere between 7-15 dollars, and to the US usually around 8 (Canadian) which is a little high but manageable. Ive learned over time that theirs way more honest buyers just looking for an awesome deal on a collectible then dishonest buyers. Ive only had 2 people pull the INR claim on me, and it was for ps1 memory cards, dirt cheap stuff. Video games is a category that will have an influx of people looking to get 'Free' games. This is what ive learned in the past 3 years at least.
I’m not sure of the reason striving to have the average sale price close to the store average sale price? Is there some advantage? Mine is $34.13 average sales for the last 3 months and $32.08 on the store. Thanks for any insights😀
Filter sold search results number compared to unsold (active listings) if 100 are live for sale and the sales history is 100+ it's a good item (example)
Can you charge a few dollars for postage? Eg $2 or 3? Still small enough that it may not dissuade people from buying, but covers the increase, plus a bit extra.
can you do a video on how you do your packaging/shipping? Especially for DVD's , Blu-Rays and Games, do you just put them in regular polymail bags or put bubble wraps?
Nice video thanks. I've got a question about holidays please. If you go away, what is the most days you can be away from home & it not cause a problem with orders & customer satisfaction? Thanks
Love your videos and they've helped me alot i must ask how are you finding the postage now 3 months later ? Im also in australia and im just starting to go all in on ebay reselling but worried wit the postage costs especially being mainly knowledged in media stuff
Great video mate!! I had a feeling your title related to the postage cost. I send heaps of cheap DVDs using stamps and the increase is atrocious. It is the second increase in just over six months from memory. Definitely a game changer. I have been trying to do what you mentioned and that is trying to bundle up things where I can to lift the ASP and also move them into parcel pricing.
I post DVDs untracked inside AU if they are under $30. I use tracking for over $30. Used to cost $2.40 postage for single DVD. Recently up to $3.00 or if the DVD box has 2 discs in it, postage was $3.60 now up to $4.50. I use a padded mailer = .24c each. I don't doubt what you're achieving, but just one instance was I think you mentioned travelling 2 hours to Grafton from your location for a pick. That's 4 hours of petrol return trip. I'm not factoring in cost of your time either. I suppose a high volume of constant sales it all adds up to profit. Great vlogs keep up the good work!
don't buy 10 packs, buy 100 or more in one go, if you're using thousands per year that's the best way for bulk discount, or as others have eluded to, risk sending untracked
Does your active listing summary total take into account your postage charges on items? Average sale price does - so that calculatation would be skewed
@TheAussieFlipper right. Mine just didn't look right when I did it which is why I came up with that thought. I can't be bothered doing the math on 1000 items though haha
Includes postage and all sales costs (fees) @@TheAussieFlipper In my case, it's skewed higher that yourself as I charge post for more unique items without comps. It's an opportunity when there isn't much to compare it too, a buyer will generally pay postage on top regardless.
you've done free postage for ages, but in My listings where there's no competition (no other items listed the same) I list a postage price that seems cheaper than actual cost (i take a hit on it a bit to make it look less of a rip off, like $9.90 for a satchel when they are $10.90 or whatever these days) i think if you put $2.95 postage in some of these DVD/Game listings they'd still sell if you have rarer items not competing with people who don't value their time as much (i remember a stay at home mum happy to make $1 per item and just turn over $20 per week profit that paid for the car rego/etc )
Forgot to mention, I'm sitting at $61.24 listed and $58.95 average sold. Seems quite close, I have removed quite a few lower priced items in the last 12 months that have sat, although my pricing ranges from $9.90 (soon to be raised/removed) to $400.
One way to combat Australia post we need the option to list 2 games or dvd's together. The problem is on ebay the title only allows 80 characters. If they gave an option to lift it to 110 characters with a small 30cent fee then i can write 2 games full name in the title space provided. 2 games means a higher average sale. When making a new listing at the top of the screen is 3 dots. If we all ask in the feedback their to give us the option to increase title characters to 110 ebay may look into it. i sent them this feedback and ask if everyone can help and ask ebay in the feedback. i sent this ( To send a single say game or dvd Australia post has just pretty massively increased prices. A single envelope with tracking went up from $5.30 to $6.40. Selling a $15 dvd or game minus ebay fees and $6.40 post and cost of purchasing isn't worth it anymore. If you can give us (extra letter space) on the item title space. Currently it is 80 characters. If you can lift this to say 110 and we pay a 30cent fee we would do it. This way we can sell 2 games or dvds together, each title in full name. ty
Luv your videos Matt watching them have really increased my store sales but have u thought to use the recommended promotion rate to help increase more sales
I do untracked postage for most dvds, but if its over a certain price i do tracked. I like the other commenters idea of offering options so the customer can choose to pay extra for tracked or not. I am just checking out your ebay coz I spied a Wolverine action figure in the background. The toy story lot you have listed as "you story" so you might wanna change that typo lol.
even untracked is a crazy jump....from $1.20 to $1.50 single stamp, large letter (up to 125g) $2.40 to $3.00, large letter (up to 250g) $3.60 to $4.50 and large letter (up to 500g) $6.00 to $7.50. I think I have to make everything just bundles and stay away from single units....Buyers don't want to spend the extra and I can't have a low price otherwise I am just giving these away :(
@@emusaurusgood in theory but the padded satchels are great for protection. I use solely the padded satchels for games and unfortunately the stamps are really the only way to go
I buy the green envelopes in groups of 50 envelopes and i used to save money rather than just 10 envelopes. I think people selling cheap stuff will go to untracked mail, which i wouldnt do either.
hey matt i have found a good way of sending off media which i have used since the start and is still fairly cheap after the price rise. i use an aus post 151 x 229 padded mailer which costs 0.60 with 2-3 stamps which are now 1.50 and i even track it with aus post tracking labels that i bought from ebay which were 0.20 cents each which just amazed me (i can send the link if you want) all you do is just scan the code on the label. it might take up abit more time to do but is well worth it. all up to send off a game or a dvd it costs me $3.80 and it is still tracked. i would highly reccomended giving it a go.
@@TheAussieFlipper youtube keeps deleting the link so the title of the labels is "Australia Post Parcel Post Tracking Labels Proof Delivery Domestic Parcel QR Cod" and i just bought 100 of them
I charge for postage cant afford to give stuff away with fees on top and that's where the good quality comes in . They are like everyone else screwing the public .
I send customers a message and try to upsell so the post doesn't look so bad then, tell they can fit 1 or 2 more items in that same box. Usually works.
Interesting comments re sending untracked. My issue with sending untracked is the feeling of being taken advantage of by unscrupulous buyers who know they can get a free item or second item for free. In my case it was this feeling and the hassle factor of numerous messages and dealing with apparently undelivered items that stopped me from sending untracked items.
I think the price rise is crazy. I knew about it before it happened like most, and got 100 envelopes. But that will only last me a month and a bit. Absolutely ridiculous. I was just getting back into games around the $15 mark instead of selling them for $3, but after fees, postage and cost of goods. I’ll end up losing money after making the sale. I’m gonna have to try and sell all of them in bulk. 😢
The increase in postage costs is really concerning. It's a kick to the guts for online sellers. Costs are going up on everything. We'll have to either pass on the cost, go untracked or give up altogether.
@@TheAussieFlipper I want to know the justification for the increase. I keep hearing the reason is because people aren't using the post as much which I call BS. If that's the case, putting the prices up will only push more people away. Make the prices cheaper so more people can use the service. I may have to move away from media (DVDs, video games and CDs) and as you said, focus on higher priced items.
I'm only part time but I've been increasingly starting to sell selected items on FB marketplace - I'm getting similar prices as eBay ( if not more ) and not paying fees.
What does eBay actually provide for the 15% of fees they charge the sellers (apart from the selling platform).. we do all customer service, we do all the information uploads, we chase the buyers for unpaid auctions, we answer all the tire kicking questions, etc. Our return policies don't mean anything because of eBay's crazy return policy that scammers are exploiting more and more. Ebay offers little to zero support to buyers, especially when being threatened with "feedback attacks" or negative feedback extortion from buyers/scammers. No wonder we are all moving to other platforms.
Just watching your latest video.. just a quick stupid question.. any way to make your own by any chance.. Amazon maybe.. personally.. I find that highway robbery 😮
In Australia.. do you have other ways of sending merch other than the post office satchels.. or does it doesn’t matter what you use the price for a certain size will still cost the same at the end.. I’m from Canada I’m just curious..
Im Paying out more in Ebay fees and Postage cost than im making when you weigh up the cost of the item fuel to get the item and fuel to post the item not worth my time anymore. they call it feebay dont they...
What about charging shipping on larger items or really cheap items. That way it’s mostly free shipping, but understandably some items can’t be shipped for free. Like that Stu Griffin DVD head thing. You could’ve bought it and then just added shipping on that one item. You’re too stuck in the free shipping model. I’m telling you bro people don’t care. I pay shipping all the time. I never let it affect me.
you are getting to the world we have in canada - tracking was $10 when i started and if it was under 30 dollars I sent untracked when i could - and dealt with the "lost" items - now ebay has negotiated better prices with canada post and I buy most of my labels direct through ebay Sorry you are having the trouble - but honestly the price of shipping you have in Australia was always low for the size of your country vs the population density - its going to be a struggle I am finally getting back into hard goods that I had to abandon as I could not compete when shipping a pair of sneakers used to cost me $25 (CDN) to ship and now its only $15
I've only ever sold a couple of high value DVDs... I've never gotten into that category seriously because I could never make the numbers add up and there's too many risk factors with the quality of the media. ...only done new & sealed.
I buy all.my tape ans thank you cards on temu and when I post items with satuals or boxes I just make it the smaller size and make the labels $10.60 every time and over seas I make it the lowest weight and it only cost $20 iv never had a problem and save on weighing items and costing extra it all balances the same n never use tracked envelopes but I buy my satuals at aus post small medium n large and even if I send a large satual it oy cost $10.60
Hi Matt, I’ve just started off selling on eBay, just to make some extra cash on top of my full-time job. Firstly, keep up the great work. Like many others, I find yours videos very informative and have helped immensely when first starting. Secondly, eBay will always be a great way for people to make some extra cash. I think with the increase in postage, like many are saying, sellers will just have to pass it on to the buyer. At the end of the day, they’re still receiving a cheaper dvd than buying new. I’m definitely looking into only selling items that I can make a $20+ profit though.
Can I just say, as busy as you must be, it’s great to see you actually replying to subscribers of your show. One question I do have, and I don’t think you’ve received any yet, but how do you react to negative feedback on your store? Or have you even had any yet?
Untracked will be better and if some go missing or you cant update tracking it will be less then $1200 your losing doing track i sell small untracked items and hardly ever go missing this government is a joke something needs to be done about this.
For untracked letter, do you mention that in the shipping option like " will send with an untracked letter"? I feel like some buyers will ask for the tracking number if i don't mention that in the shipping option.
I can't believe you make that much a day buy only listing 10 items a day. I wouldn't even get that after listing 50 a day. What % do you promote your items?

😢😢😢
Sadly, i will be doing the same... I have overheard Opp shops on the phones talking about the price they will put on an item equal to eBay price! ... how is that a charity when they are selling at eBay's prices... I guess the low wage earners won't buy from Opp shops soon.
@@jamckeefurther to this, I know resellers in close contact with op shop management and they are now getting trained in how to use google lens and ebay to price accordingly...
It's honestly sickening, a retail store covered up by the sign of an "opportunity shop."
Reselling in Australia is nearly dead.
@@jamckeethey always miss stuff. Always.
@@brycekelly383 What is sickening? Extra money going to people in actual need instead of greedy eBay sellers? Bye bye resellers!
I have never offered free shipping in my store and I have no worries at all with sales unfortunately with the free shipping does cut into the profit a bit price of post is crazy
I may have to increase my listing price to cover the additional charges. I'm still a fan of the free postage model!
Bulk listings do help! They have for me with video games!
Suggested option for posting two DVD’s, Game discs under 2cm thick:
Registered Post Prepaid Labels Box of 5 = $4.41 ea.
Tough Bag Size 4 Box of 200 = .59c ea.
Cost per “envelope” = $5.00
ps.

Definitely something I'm willing to consider! Need to work something out!
Postage costs are the biggest barrier to buying and selling on eBay, or any kind of online business.
It's getting very very difficult!
@@TheAussieFlipper I sent a VHS tape to the UK yesterday, and postage cost $33. The tape was only worth $8. Seriously considering not doing international sales anymore.
brutal!@@DocReasonable
That health trick is so good! I don't have a lot of room to keep inventory, so my average selling price and store listing price are lower than most people, but between the 2 there is only about a 80 cent difference. Every item the buyer pays shipping and I rarely use the free shipping option.
Any tips for someone starting out and wanting to sell internationally ? do you have a particular freight company you recommend? do you only factor in free shipping if its a smaller item ?
Oh, I'd love a video on this as well!
I have an average sale price of $121.58 with an average store listing of $149.72. Guess that’s just taking lower offers always have room to move in my pricing
That's actually so damn good!!! Congrats to you!
Mine's similar - ASP of $111.86 with average store listing of $146.68. I have a handful of $300+ items sitting in my store that haven't sold yet
Mercari literally just canceled seller fees. I don't know how they can do it but they did.
Matt,
You should consider passing that postage price increase on to your buyers. Start letting the buyer absorb the cost.
absolutely Maddie!
Great video. I did the 496 challenge (496KM over the month) in January. It nearly killed me but I loved it overall and now really enjoy running
Don’t worry about the Australia Post increase, just send DVDs, CDs, Games, untracked . . . the vast majority of eBayers are doing the right thing, if not block them, simple!
Fair point!
I think Sendle will have to provide us with an option to send DVD’s / Games for a low fee. This will ultimately drive competition and hopefully put a downwards pressure on postage charges.
I’m going to reach out to sendle
Good plan Matt, keep us posted of any potential outcome in your future video’s
Interestingggg! Okay
$3,000 is postage out of $11,000 in sales monthly on average
We've got the same problem in the UK with Royal Mail. Price seems to go up monthly.
How did you add your new ebay store to your MyPost Business account. How do you have multiple accounts using the same discount?
Hi mat, I learn so much from your videos. Just a question do you have a video on how to check sell through rate on items ? Thank you
Filter sold search results number compared to unsold (active listings) if 100 are live for sale and the sales history is 100+ it's a good item (example)
Can you charge a few dollars for postage? Eg $2 or 3? Still small enough that it may not dissuade people from buying, but covers the increase, plus a bit extra.
I charge the buyer the full postage amount
can you do a video on how you do your packaging/shipping? Especially for DVD's , Blu-Rays and Games, do you just put them in regular polymail bags or put bubble wraps?
Bubble mailers, at least give it some cushion
Nice video thanks.
I've got a question about holidays please.
If you go away, what is the most days you can be away from home & it not cause a problem with orders & customer satisfaction? Thanks
EBay have all that information on their site. It differs for eBay shops as opposed to individual sellers.
I spent $4,000 on prepaid envelopes to beat the 25% stamp increase so I saved $1,000.
Love your videos and they've helped me alot i must ask how are you finding the postage now 3 months later ? Im also in australia and im just starting to go all in on ebay reselling but worried wit the postage costs especially being mainly knowledged in media stuff
I’m continually buying higher asp items to combat the postage rise!
2:34 to skip all the running, stick to ebay content
I’ll do what I want
Lol 😂
I like to walk more than run but I speed walk on my treadmill in my lounge room
don't buy 10 packs, buy 100 or more in one go, if you're using thousands per year that's the best way for bulk discount, or as others have eluded to, risk sending untracked
But cashflow...
we have the cashflow so no issues, smaller sellers will have to work up to it@@emusaurus
If you see an increase coming / any reason you don’t buy a years worth of dvd envelops? - also I’ve seen a few people selling these on marketplace

Does your active listing summary total take into account your postage charges on items? Average sale price does - so that calculatation would be skewed
I’m free postage so it would in my case. I feel if it was charged post it would still let you know total value inclusive
Aussie post is getting expensive that's for sure.
Have you researched alternatives like sendle or similar?
I still think it’s #1
you've done free postage for ages, but in My listings where there's no competition (no other items listed the same) I list a postage price that seems cheaper than actual cost (i take a hit on it a bit to make it look less of a rip off, like $9.90 for a satchel when they are $10.90 or whatever these days) i think if you put $2.95 postage in some of these DVD/Game listings they'd still sell if you have rarer items not competing with people who don't value their time as much (i remember a stay at home mum happy to make $1 per item and just turn over $20 per week profit that paid for the car rego/etc )
Soon i will have space in my loungroom for my ebay business as well as my three daughters study spaces
Yess another video! 👏 is there a product or way you use to remove price stickers/stickers easily? Thanks
Forgot to mention, I'm sitting at $61.24 listed and $58.95 average sold. Seems quite close, I have removed quite a few lower priced items in the last 12 months that have sat, although my pricing ranges from $9.90 (soon to be raised/removed) to $400.
Sounds pretty damn healthy to me!
This way we can sell 2 games or dvds together, each title in full name. ty
My post office gives me free tracking stickers that I can scan into eBay. Can you use unbranded envelopes, stamps and the free tracking stickers?
Unbranded I'm not too sure I've always used Aus Post branded
Luv your videos Matt watching them have really increased my store sales but have u thought to use the recommended promotion rate to help increase more sales
recommended seems a little too high in fees for me!
Had to remove over 300 Listings to keep up with the price raise. The future is not looking good on ebay
Tough times ma man!!!
The increase sucks my ebay store is 90% dvds looks like im just about to get out of the game I also dont like sending untracked
Supppperrrrr tough for media sellers :( I hear you!
Lovin the positive attitude to end out the video!! Just gotta push through 🙏🏻
No its not. I wouldn't recommend anyone start a business on eBay. That's the truth.. 🙄
I gotta disagree here
even untracked is a crazy jump....from $1.20 to $1.50 single stamp, large letter (up to 125g) $2.40 to $3.00, large letter (up to 250g) $3.60 to $4.50 and large letter (up to 500g) $6.00 to $7.50. I think I have to make everything just bundles and stay away from single units....Buyers don't want to spend the extra and I can't have a low price otherwise I am just giving these away :(
If it's over 250g, you might as well send in a tracked envelope
@@emusaurusgood in theory but the padded satchels are great for protection.
I use solely the padded satchels for games and unfortunately the stamps are really the only way to go
i hear ya mate!
the only free shipping i do on single games is 2x stamps in a bubble envelope on sales between $20 and $50. I like to risk it for a biscuit
In every other industry, prices are passed on. It’s time to stop selling dvd’s etc free postage.
Hmmmmm
Could you please send the ebay listing with the tracking labels
Yessss please!!!
Are you talking about those stick on labels? Does that tracking actually work, would they not need to be lodged over the counter?
@@ornzwa yes the tracking works, sometimes aus post is bad with scanning it in but most the time they always scan it and it will say delivered

I charge for postage cant afford to give stuff away with fees on top and that's where the good quality comes in . They are like everyone else screwing the public .
Is shipping fees tax deductible
Yes
Is it cheaper to get your own packaging?
May have to look into it
I send customers a message and try to upsell so the post doesn't look so bad then, tell they can fit 1 or 2 more items in that same box. Usually works.
Great idea
bulk is always best mate! $20 minimum for individual games from here on in
The increase in postage costs is really concerning. It's a kick to the guts for online sellers. Costs are going up on everything.
We'll have to either pass on the cost, go untracked or give up altogether.
it's scary that's for sure!
That's a huge win!!!
I believe the parcels are going up $1 today aswell. Man, remember when stamps cost 70c 😂
It’s crazy
I think the price rise sucks but perhaps put your prices up to absorb some of the cost.
i think so for sure!!

Mate that Stewie dvd is either $35 + $35 shipping or it’s $70 free shipping… revenue doesn’t change.
True
Not worth doing this unless you’re making at least $15 profit each sale. $20+ is better imo.
you are getting to the world we have in canada - tracking was $10 when i started and if it was under 30 dollars I sent untracked when i could - and dealt with the "lost" items - now ebay has negotiated better prices with canada post and I buy most of my labels direct through ebay
Sorry you are having the trouble - but honestly the price of shipping you have in Australia was always low for the size of your country vs the population density - its going to be a struggle
I am finally getting back into hard goods that I had to abandon as I could not compete when shipping a pair of sneakers used to cost me $25 (CDN) to ship and now its only $15
Nice to hear the adjustments you’re making to keep things moving! Gotta stay positive!

I've only ever sold a couple of high value DVDs... I've never gotten into that category seriously because I could never make the numbers add up and there's too many risk factors with the quality of the media. ...only done new & sealed.
Quality of media isn’t an issue in my opinion but yea finding the high ticket stuff only is crucial and few and far between!

Smart move if you’re part time mate! Stick to the high end stuff!
I'm with you on Lord of the Rings!
