I imagine that this little contraption has the soul of a kind old man who has dedicated his life to making the perfect Takoyaki. He used to do it at the speed of light, delighting the locals with his skills, but now, in his old age, he has become more weary, yet still persists the best he can, turning the takoyaki despite his creaking joints. Even to this day, the metallic clinking can still be heard as he attempts to perfect his recipe as he had done all those years ago.
If you dont know what tako yaki is i do and its octopus and they put bread stuff around it into a ball so its like a pancake but you dont put syrup on it.

IMHO that clunking cover is intended to be removed after filling as it protects from spills into the mechanism. There should be a reason it has handle.

The takoyaki wasn't fully round which is a large staple of the shape, and there were little holes in it. Also, I think putting the octopus in after the batter would of helped a bit more.

Karthik Raj I think it was a lack of batter after the initial pouring. Maybe if they poured in some batter let it cook a little then put in the octopus and then after the first flip poured in more batter it might have more to grab onto. But I don’t know the instructions of the machine.
I also feel like it was left too long after adding the batter before starting the mechanism. My guess is you're supposed to start it going and then follow it round with the batter. When you see videos of people making these, they don't leave them that long before turning them.
When it began moving and clanking at the beginning, it looked like something you'd see in Howl's Moving Castle, lol. Kind of eerie but you're too fascinated to run away.
This is funny. A lot of cultures have dough ball food items, Aebleskiver (or Ebelskiver) from Denmark, and Poffertjes from the Netherlands just to name two. I wonder if this device would work for these items as well. I don't think either of those cultures put octopus in theirs.

I'd prefer to listen to this than to our neighbour wailing her prayers 5 times a day. Or our other neighbour walking on her hardwood floors with her heels at night. Or our other neighbours' loud partying, fighting and / or effin each and every weekend.
I think the only reason a few didn't rotate was under-lubed moulds. Plus it irked me when they didn't top them up after turning like you're kinda meant to, to ensure they're full and chewy
I'm not an expert at any of this, but it looks to me like you're using it wrong. First off, i think you waited too long to turn the machine on. Secondly, i think you're supposed to put the dough in clockwise, not counterclockwise. So... start the machine, wait for one of the little legs to lift, and when it comes back out, then pour the dough in, and let it flip away. Because you didn't wait for the leg to come back out at 2:50, the takoyaki ball there had a weird shape.
