Reading Miriam's autobiography at the moment. Fascinating. I'm warming to her much more! My husband's family were Jews in Strasbourg that came to the London synagogue and anglicised their name. I love the history too.

Surely there is someone more appropriate to 1st comment...no? Have been a fan of Miriam's for a decade, never knew she was lesbian or Jewish. Enjoyed the discoveries, then further that she us gracious to the highest degree, and generous in her sharing of herself and beliefs. Then learned of her very personal hope for us all, that we recognize we are all part of a Oneness. Feels like meeting with one of the great humans alive in this time. Thank you for posting this interview. Prayer for her safe recovery from her surgery and...that her wish to interview people in both Palestine and Israel is realized.

My goodness! Ms. Maggie is my age and is saying so eloquently what I have thought. Everything from the Holocaust to Zionism, from how we treat each other to the revolting behavior of people whom success has ruined are pretty much what I've thought. She's an actress and I'm a social organizer. She's wItty and I'm just vehement. But I really like her very much because she's honest and so, so decent.

Oh Miriam, you terrible old bird! Why do you make me feel comfortable and sit here smiling with my black alley-cat and even enjoy remembering the days when youngsters used to come into my business having labeled me "Lord Fowle the despiser". I never regretted getting out of the music business. Going into retail, an 'offie', made it so rewarding to drag people under my umbrella and gIve them all, what they needed (apart from the bottle of gin and 20 Du Maurier). Such an acting talent, to be free enough in yourself, to give of yourself , eh? Equally draining sometimes!

I think its a great idea about Miriam doing a similar series to the US one in the UK,we need someone like her who does ask the questions and prod and provokes in often funny ways but gets to the point.

what a fascinating interview.....i had no idea you were "culturally" jewish.. and.coming from an orthodox background { not that it really matters all that much ,we all all humans, dealing with life as best we can} but i must say i love now you even more!

I was contacted by M.M. when researching our family. We were looking for the family of Alexander Gonzowa who our great aunt married.
What a great and honest conversation, amazing woman. I’m not Jewish but my gay husband is.
I found out my mother was Jewish after she died in 2013. I think she may have come to the UK (in Norfolk) as a child in approx 1923/4. I have no idea who she was!! There was never a mention she wasn't English! She was always very guarded though, cautious. . All I know is that she was a plotter in the WRAF during the war. I've done a family tree but have no idea how to start on her side, as they said the names would be different.
