The Doors-'Pam, Friend or Foe?' (Part One)

  • Really Pam??? Were you friend or Foe, we examine...Friend of the Channel and Morrison confidant 'Hutch' sent me an Eyewitness account of Jim's funeral and last daze in Paris. IT BLEW MY MIND FOLKS! I took two weeks pondering my fate, I really wanted to avoid this tale in the worse way. This offering hurts my heart in the telling, you be the judge and please hold your verdict until you see part two, it's only fair, kinda sorta. The first song I had no choice about it, as I read the text Hutch sent me it played in my head as if Jim was leading the band at that very moment. When I get that kind of inspiration I dare not disregard..(Copyright Disclaimer: Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship and research. Pamela needed help, of course, but so did Jim. From what I understand, Jim would sometimes speak about Pam's vulnerabilities, and that he was compelled to take care of her, yet he was very vulnerable himself, especially the last few months prior to his death. This is what breaks my heart more than anything about Jim's death. I've been alone in a strange cold place, and fortunately found a warm helping hand, Jim didn't have that warmth, at his zenith,he had virtually no one.

I think that Jim shouldn´t have gone to Paris. Paris was a Hell, then and now. He should have held in States, maybe to relaxing he could have gone to the South, Nashville, or to the West, Dallas, Denver or even Colorado. Also Frisco, or New York, but far away from cold and damn Paris. I think that better than Paris is Rome or Madrid to know the origin of great literature and to know the dawn of occidental civilization. Morover, I think that Jim should have found out one sport activitie to leave behind the stress and concerns about showbusiness and performing. As for Pam, it would have been better to tell her how well the new album was going, and that for the next album they were going to have Elvis as co-writer of a song, in addition to participating with him singing in a version of That' s all right mom. That and he had met a very nice red-haired girl from LA who liked to sunbathe and sail.

She went to Paris to follow her dealer, poor Jim didn't know at the time.... Even the trip to Corsica and Casablanca was only to follow her lover/dealer. The count was there at the same time wgen Jim and Pam where there....He seriously needed at good friend and good help at the time but his only companion was as always the alcholol Pam and her addiction was the last thing he needed. There were a few people who told the honest truth about his last days and he was a lonely and ill man and died a lonely ill man. It wasnt heroin, it was a stroke...that happens when you live your life like Jimbo did. Rip Jim ❤️🙏

That may have been true, But Jim also, had a good reason to leave, as he was advised after he was found guilty that he should get out of the country while he still had a valid passport, until his appeal could be processed, and Paris was a natural choice, as he had a real love for art and culture, and Paris was had been the home of the poets and artists he admired.

As a child of the 60s I have always wondered if there was will leaving his wealth/possessions to Pam ! First I’ve known this for a fact. Thx ! Gave you a follow !
Can I ask, was that the Admiral and Mrs Morrison visiting the grave in the footage ? I hope so ! Another thing that I’ve often wondered.
Also, as a nurse and after close looks at Pam and Jim’s relationship. Their “dysfunctional relationship “ I should say. Their shared chemical dependencies with very dangerous substances that affect the respiratory system. Jims disturbing symptoms and recent history with pneumonia before he died and increasing shortness of breath, coughing up blood etc - - I’ve often drawn the conclusion he and Pam BOTH were on a course with destiny in the end. A course with diseases , classic symptoms and behaviors we wouldn’t understand for 15 more years well enough to truly treat. We still struggle to treat.
I guess I’m trying to say no matter what at that time they had plotted courses certain to end in disaster. Jim was so talented. Like many before him talent that would only be recognized most after he died and by generations not yet born for many moons to come. But what never changes in the story, is the sadness surrounding these lives. Jim’s in particular. The sadness is found in Jim’s own writings. In the stories told about situations and scenes onstage , during concerts etc. painful. Sad. So much lost …..

So please don't worry about offending me with your thoughts, ideas, opinions, and corrective criticism. Sometimes I see comments that are legit erased. Yes, I see them anyway...Your opinions matter to me wether in support or not. Hannes Schlink commented: Paraphrasing, Sam might be lying... Absolutely possible my friend and thank you for the nice words before the meat of your comment surfaced. I thought the same thing at first, however, I have been convinced by the following, (which will all be in part II). The Taxi Driver, the waitress working there, and the Count's Girlfriend Marianne Faithfull was told by the Count that he killed Jim. They all corroborate Sam's account. Pam's account never rang true, Infuse the backstory of the count, the affair, the will, all contribute to the elements of a crime. Motive, and opportunity, Where there's smoke there's fire.

Was there any benefit for the Count to kill Jim, or have him killed? And didn't Marianne F. give a different account of what happened, and said the drugs were delivered to the apartment? It seems like everyone has a different story, even the people supposedly 'in the know'. It's all so bizarre. If Pam wanted money why not let the remaining Doors use Light my Fire in that commercial? They both didn't come across as materialistic, and between that, and her probably being traumatized by Jim's death, is it possible that's why the funeral was so simplistic? Did she know his remains would never leave Paris? The more I read, the more obscure the answers seem to be, in my mind.

    • @Airbaja

@@happyme3376 The Count was doing Pam and She was a long time customer. Jim did not want her near him, to the point where Jim was finding her a new dealer, or so he thought, they were the count's men.. Yes, the Count was also doing Marianne at the same time. He wanted her to think he was going to the Apartment to see Jim. Instead he spent the first month seeing Pam behind Jim's back. You information is sorted at best, Pam had nothing to do with the 'Light my fire ' commercial. What about her dress shop? Not materialistic? She was a junky, how much did five years of that little habit cost? The count wanted access to the cash, when Pam finally got control of the money she O.D., she lied about his death, she cheated on him in Paris there are countless witnesses.

As a 70 year old who has been following the Jim rabbit hole....I'm still trying to understand as this clip shows @ 4:40 Jims grave from late 1973 was unmarked? for 8 years? and then the famous white bust etc...So we have the bartender finding him dead in the bathroom and I heard the interviews of the ladies who were their and directing the men carrying Jims body out of the club to the bathtub...and I remember the original medical office on scene with Jim in tub..noticing blood right nostril. So the heroin o.d. in the club and chain of custody from a bathroom stall to the tub wrapped in plastic and ice and then buried in a $200 burial service and everybody associated scattered....So I'm reading John Densmore did not visit his grave until 1974...so he shows up to Jim Morrisons unmarked grave and none of the Doors/Pam/Alain Ronay/ Electra Records etc...just left his burial site a dirt covered plot??....I know what it looks like now....but all the years it was unmarked or vandalized seems fishy and no Doors bothered to erect one?...I saw Ray and Robby their for that special service that there is footage of...but Jim in an unmarked grave for 8 years?...I thought I had this all wrapped up years ago, now?

The similarities between the Morrison & Courson family are that both had their fathers served in the USN during WWII, a familiar tale to most American families during the 1940s, for the most part both families had children with a normal conventional upbringing and then the 60s happened and Jim & Pam split off to do their own thing, unfortunately the things they did were not very healthy. I think they had a on again- off again, love - hate relationship, i am sure the Doors felt that Pam was a bad influence on Jim, but he was no saint either. I visited the grave in late July 79, there was a marker that said Douglas James Morrison , i will look through my father's photos some day and see if he bothered to take a photo or not. there were blue spray painted arrows on the buildings near street intersections in Paris with " JIM " on them.

She was only 24, and how turbulent it had been during the 60's! I think the animosity grew towards the gravity one was living on, and it started condensing. When they discovered him dead, they took him to his apartment because they feared they would be blamed and the club would shut down. He should have never met Pam but then again he would have probably died anyway of alcoholism. She got him hooked on the gear and sealed his fate. R.I.P.

It’s interesting that everyone has an opinion about this. My thing is Jim was smart guy, they both cheated on each other, but they obviously loved each other. I think she might have used the Count to make him jealous, who knows. Fate is a weird thing. I would say this much though, he loved her madly. Thanks Jim, for the music and poetry, from the bottom of my of my heart. Also people please don’t be too hard on Pam!. May they both rest in peace. Good will to everyone. From Liberty, Mo.

From what I've read when Jim and Pam were in LA they saw other people. Maybe they were on and off again or in an open relationship? But moving to France might be the 1st time Pam and Jim were living together without a break from each other. In LA Jim would leave to go on tour or to recording studio. He even went to NYC for a while and dated Nico and that other lady. I wonder if their spending so much time together magnified cracks in their relationship? It use to be thought that cold water would revive someone over dosing. If he was put in the bathtub after the fact, maybe that's why? The idea of Pam cleaning up the drugs before calling the police and no one getting him to a hospital is horrible.

Perhaps he told her "a plain pine box"... often when a person is bereaved, she or he is in a state of shock and can't make sound decisions. Assets are not available from a will for a considerable time...she may have had a sudden cash flow problem. Overall she and he seemed suited to each other, they valued the same things, and both wanted to experience all kinds of life. He picked her from the very beginning, she loved his writings, they went through a lot together. They could play hard, fight hard, love hard.

She was Neil Young's Cinnamon Girl also so I don't believe their meeting was totally innocent but Jim was an alcoholic & Pam was a junkie so even if people think it was a cosmic union it was probably the worst thing that could happen to either of them. I don't for a moment believe at 27 that Jim died of a heart attack, I feel was most likely a drug overdose and probably why he was so hastily buried. Pam OD'd several years later & both families shared Jim's estate. A loss all around 😓

I think, she was simply just an addict and jealous insecure ….not saying that makes her aA ok or gives her a free pass.
