I been getting a little framey here and there with Sakhal (it changed all my settings back to default Extreme/High) and was thinking last night "i'll need to try and find a guide to settings so I can better understand what to fiddle with without having to spend my limited game time experimenting" and here we go. Fantastic call, dude.
9:11 It doesn't affect edges, it affects textures (hence the name TEXTURE filtering). 🤨 Always choose HIGH. Because it gives you anisotropic filtering 16x (not to be confused with _antialiasing_ 16x!). Always go with aniso-tropic 16x. It doesn't affect performance (that much) and offers a very nice improvement to how textures look like when the surfaces are viewed at steep angles.
I don't even know why all games don't default that to 16x nowadays. Even integrated GPUs from years ago can do 16x anisotropic with zero hits to performance.
I love that you made this video. I was literally fiddling around with this yesterday now that Sakhal is out - because I have a good PC that can run high settings but I wanted to find balance between that and performance. The fact that this popped on my TH-cam today is great timing. You have a great channel man. Thanks
Followed your advice and wow. what a difference! NVIDIA changing power mode was like kicking the game into turbo mode, now getting solid 60 fps even in towns. many thanks! 4k screen with Intel i5 11th gen, 3060 ti
Thanks for this video. Nice, clear explanation as to what everything is there for. Definitely gonna play around with my settings this weekend. Appreciate the content!
Awesome video man!! I just stepped into a 1440 monitor from a 1080 and knew I would have to step some things down from extreme. Currently running a 4060TI and with your settings I am getting anywhere from 100 to 120 FPS. Max cap i set at 120 like you did.
16:11 Never set post processing to low because it makes god rays have a stair stepping effect. 16:20 You literally can't look at yourself in the water because it uses SSR (Screen-Space Reflections). Your mug is not gonna be reflected with that technique. And it's not that performance intensive either. I would leave it enabled. Something nicer to look at when fishing.
Is anyone having stuttering problems? Like when I move around in buildings my character stutters backwards. It only started happening after this update.
bokeh is like, the spots of light you might see through rays of light going through glass, fog, mist and such. (kind of a poor explanation I think but hope it helps a bit lol)
Thx man. I will try these settings, even if I play in 3840x1600. After the new Frostline update, the game started working very badly, and the GPU load dropped from 80%-98% to 30%-75%. It is very frustrating to have a 4090 and it works fine the day before and immediately after the update, as if you had a low quality video card.
Same, I have a setup with 4080 super and 7800x3d and on the higher settings fps is bouncing a lot and pc is running chill and doesn't use it's full power
You explained why you put hardware anti-aliasing to low but can you explain why you put postprocess anti-aliasing to high? Does not have a large impact on performance?
I really need a personal trainer . someone gave me this game (regular not frostline) and I never played before and don't know where to start other than your fantastic videos !! I love watching these but too scared to enter the game 🐍🐈🙉😲😸
I'm having issues since the new update. Some horizontal and vertical edges look like lego and flicker on movement. I have a decent pc setup and can run settings quite high. Can the nvidia control panel settings conflict with ingame video settings and make images worse? Before the update it was all good. Any tips legends?
Turn OFF foliage smoothing if you have an AMD card. But even on Nvidia cards, foliage smoothing causes dithering if you look closely at lower res with vegetation slightly further away. It shows up as a waffle/grid pattern. There's a reddit post that shows it very clearly called: "Can someone please tell me why my Dayz looks like this and how to fix it? Seems to be an anti aliasing issue."
@@camcantrun If you play on a high DPI screen (1440p 27" or 4k 32") you might not notice them that much. But if you play at 1080p or lower, you'll DEFINITELY see them, and once you see them you can't unsee them.
tl;dr If playing PvP turn down every video option down to minimum and see a player stand out like black on white. It's what he's saying without saying it.
After watching about 5 different videos yours did the best fps increase for me. Thank you

Texture Detail only matters if your videocard doesn't have enough VRAM to hold all those high quality textures in memory.

That's pretty helpful that you put different settings for different builds, thank you kindly! That Nvidia setting is chefs kiss as well!
This is a great example of a quality video, its what you need to know with an explanation but no b.s. Much appreciated Cam.
Yo hope your channel continues to surge!!! Congrats on going full time

i know you might disagree but 1920 would probably be better?

That's good to know I just got this thing 3 months ago and didn't even know the Ge force set up that's awesome thanks
This really is the ultimate dayz settings guide. Big W.

Awesome! Got my sub dude
As someone who is switching to pc i really appreciate this vid. Thanks

Another winner. This is the stuff that makes futzing with settings less intimidating and more understandable....
Thank you for great and clear guide
I also like when the ground is where its supposed to be. its more better.

yep same here
W video cam thank u for the settings
Awesome! Thanks
Very useful tips!

Exactly the same bro the game feels so janky rigjt now I've got a 4090 and experience the same issues

I experienced the same thing. I had to change my nvidia control panel settings to get my game to stop micro stuttering and dropping fps.
Been playing a couple of months on dayz computer finally decided to get some good settings and realized my terrain visibility was set to poor 😭
dude my bokeh is all f'd up now. bro. no, seriously thanks for this :)

awesome!
Is player draw distance still tied to the overall quality setting?
Nice 1 m8

So I’m having a problem with my terrain visibility and object visibility not saving to what I change it to what can I do to fix that problem?

I have a 2080 is that medium rig
Is there a command like in Rust where you can see your framerate in game while playing?
Not that i know of u can turn a fps setting on via steam > settings. Or you graohica card control panel has a setting for that as well

Smuthin smothin smooaaaathinnn xD
My game is lagging as fuck but I don't know if it is my PC or my Internet... Hopefully your guide will fix it 🥲
Can we get a true keybind video.
What'd you mean my friend?
@ Just to go over all the best keybinds you use in Dayz. Like aim and holding breath, how to lean etc…
what are your specs btw/

How come I don’t see these on my xbox
I have a 4070 and r7 5700x3d i get awful fps
Why are you saying "Ocool-shan"? 🤨
Ock-lew-jan.
foliage smoothing is horrible, makes the game blury
That's a big fat negative red rider.
It's literally the best setting in the game for visuals.
