- I bought this at Wal-Mart the day after Christmas in 2006 or 2007, I think. It's become part of the Christmas decor at my mom's house. I enjoy annoying my brother by setting it off now and again.

When I was a little girl, my grandparents used to set this up every year for me next to our tree and play each song, such great memories.😊
Here's What I Know. I Have This At Juju's House But It's 4ft. I Was So Scared Of It. Well At Her House I Was Scared Of Spongebob With A Deformed Face On A Fire Truck Toy. I Remeber That Recording A Video On It. Yep. I Remember Being Scared Of Deformed Faced Spongebob On That. But I Was Scared Of Santa Singing It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year When I Cried. I Didn't Like Him Singing That So Long For 6 Seconds. That Was So Scary. I Used To Be Scared Of It But Now There Friendly
I Forgot One More Thing... He Looked Like A Midget. Because That's What Juju Said At Her Home. I Thought She Said "I Put The Santa From Downstairs" But It's In That Little Garage. It's So Small Kinda Like Her House. Anyway Juju Said It Can't Pop Up. So She Tried To Press The Red Button And Make Him Sing Up On The Housetop. And It Sounded Much Better. Because When I Was Little. He Sang It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year. He Said The Word Year So Long For Almost 7 Seconds. Well This Is Different. This Is December 22nd, 2021. When Juju Pressed The Button To Make Him Sing. His Arms Were Moving Little Bit Shakily. It Was Funny That I Almost Laughed. And That Was That
I still have the one i got when i was little but its broken it just sings and from my dad throwing santa on the floor santas neck is broken he cant dance anymore and he cant move his head but i still keep because i love him and he brings back a lot of memories from my childhood when it was christmas

How do you stand him up to full height!?.. mine is stuck , and I can't raise him up to see his legs?...what do I do?
I remember my parents putting this model in our house every christmas when I was little. I was terrified of this dancing Santa and I'd get nightmares of it chasing me..lol. Everytime I'd go close to it, I'd run away. My aunt still has the same model but it only sings the first song and it's shorter.

I love this singing santa sorry I sold it. I want to buy it again.
I've never tried that, but since if you plug in a microphone it passes on your own voice, I suppose it would pass through the voice in any audio player. The problem is background music, since it opens it mouth in response to volume regardless of whether it's voice or an instrument.
He no longer dances and I can't get any help from gemmy since this is no longer manufactured. I removed some of the clothing and it looks very basic inside the frame. Anyone have a clue how to fix this?

My grandma has this!
There are two small drive belts ("o" rings) that make him move. One for the head and another for the dancing mechanism. They each tie a pulley on a small motor to a pulley on the respective part. One for his head and the other moves a lever that lifts one shoulder up and down making Santa appear to dance. The arms are moved by riding on some plastic grooved ramps as the shoulders go up and down and act as a cam to move the arms. A very ingenious way to design this. I thought my grandchildren stripped some gears and was expecting to find just that when I tore down Santa. The belts, however, act as a week link and will slip rather then sacrifice a motor or gear. Apparently the person who designed this expected kids to try to dance with Santa and engineered this weak link.No doubt an experienced parent or more likely grandparent. Or was it Santa himself LOL. The only trouble is, is finding the belts. One can be replaced with a small "o" ring. The other is a square cut "o" ring. Hard to find. That's why I am on this site. To try to find the part.
Without going into extreme detail but enough to get er done, here is how to get to the parts. All from the standing position and unplugged. Pull the lever to remove Santas' head behind his neck and remove his head. Cut the 4 to 6 threads that tie his pants to his jacket. Carefully pull his jacket up his back and over his neck to his front. Now you can slide his jacket down his arms to his wrists. Now move his arms up and down so you can see what I was talking about how the arms ride on those grooved ramps. This way you'll know how to put them back in the ramps. Now remove the screws holding the two plastic halves of his upper torso together. Lower his back half and look straight between his shoulder blades if he had them and you should see both drive belts. I intend to replace both belts due to the difficulty to access them. Good luck and please let me know if you find those belts. Lets keep these great decorations working.

yes Sheila. I was able to gwt them at Napa Auto parts. if you have the old ones. take it with you. an exact size isn't critical. a tad smaller will work but it must be a "square cut" or it will slip out of its groove. good luck. let me know if I can be of more help.

I threw the instructions away. I took this same santa out of the box and I cant remember how to raise him up to 5 ft. Dont wanna risk breaking him from trying. Any advice?
There is a pair of plastic twist bolts that go in from the bottom (mine are long gone). After removing those, place the thing in position upright on the floor and push down on the shoulders firmly. It should unlatch at that point and internal springs should push it to full height. Merry Christmas!

So I just got one from Goodwill, it’s like 2ft tall and I know that it Needs to be higher. Is there a trick to getting it to lift up?
Mine isn't handy, but look on the bottom for two plastic pieces that turn. They're locking the unit down to the platform. Once removed (or if no longer there, as often happens) try just placing Santa's base on the floor and pushing down on the shoulders. I think that should disengage him, and he'll pop up via the spring-loaded legs.

I understand how to release it to full size but how do you collapse it (him )?
To compact him simply place your hands on his shoulders and push him down. He should lock when he gets to the minimum height. Mine came with two twist bolts that secure him but these have been lost. The head comes off, of course; there's a sort of clip on the back of the head that releases it before you pull it up and off.

After all these years, he still works fine. We only get him out and use him about one month a year, though; and he mostly just stands around being activated only when I want to annoy someone in the family.

Yes, he still works, but he's only used a few times per season so there isn't much wear. He'd probably be long-ago worn out in a commercial environment. As to dancing, he just does what you see.

I have the exact same Sing/Dancing Santa... I can't get him to click up from storage... anyone know what could be wrong for him not to go up after pressing down on his shoulders????
There are locks in the bottom of mine we took that out and pressed his shoulders he popped up we cant get ours to sing

Mine has two locking things on the bottom of the stand, but turning them both ways, he still won't stand up.. I've only used him for 2 Christmas, so I'm not happy lol.
