      I use to love adventure games like king quest or space quest but i found crpgs and never look back. I love a good tale and char just like I love a good mechanic and ruleset. Sometimes I go all way through an uninspired rpg saga just because it got solid rules and fun gameplay but thankfully pathfinder games have been strong both fronts. Pathfinder is soo good though that i would enjoy even if the tale was weak no problem: after weak sagas I just play motb again and I good to go :D

    A couple of extra thoughts:
    -Magic weapon is kind of strange, in that the way it appears to work is as follows (someone may be able to confirm or correct this):
    --It appears to add one of +1, +2, +3, +4, or +5 buffs to your weapon, depending on your caster level and whether or not it would push the total enhancement to +5
    --Each of these possible buff effects is non-exclusive with the others (probably a bug, but it's remained since game launch so I doubt it will ever change)
    --Magic Weapon and Greater Magic Weapon both add the same buffs, with Magic Weapon limited to adding the +1 version at a reduced duration
    What this means is that, ever since the game's release, you can stack multiple versions of the magic weapon buff, as long as they are for different amounts. The same amount counts as the same buff, even if from different sources, but a +1 and a +2 version of the same spell count as different buffs, since they are coded as separate buffs. You can take advantage of this certain ways. You can:
    --Cast Greater Magic Weapon on a weapon for +2, then normal Magic Weapon on top of that for another +1, getting +3 total.
    --Cast Greater Magic weapon at L6 as an arcanist, then use the arcanist ability to increase the CL to L8 to cast the L8 version on top, for the same effect (ending up with +3 total). If your weapon was already +2, then you will end up with a total of a +5 weapon as early as Act 1.
    -Some weapon effects appear not to extend to 24h correctly. In my experience, it's anything that adds an effect to the weapon instead of the character. Some things appear to do both, adding an icon to the character, while actually applying the real effect to the weapon, which are internally separate (again, someone might be able to confirm or correct this). This means it can look like your character has 'magic wepaon' on for 24h, but the actual buff has long ago worn off your weapon. Other buffs only apply through the character, such as geniekind, crusader's edge, and so on, and will correctly extend to 24h. (Honestly, I love this game but some of the coding is pretty shonky).
    -Holy Sword can be obtained as a cleric spell via one of the domains (Glory, I believe).
    -[Greater] Magic Weapon can be applied to the Kineticist's Kinetic Blade, for an extra +5 AB you didn't know you could have.

    • @cRPGBro
      @cRPGBro ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is interesting, I had never tried applying BOTH Normal and Greater Magic Weapon!

    • @Alister222222

      @@cRPGBro I can also confirm that having a +5 weapon, from any source or temporary enchantment, is enough to bypass all the specific resistances (e.g. mithril, adamantine, cold iron, and alignment). This means that there is no need to have a cold iron weapon or a good aligned weapon as long as it is +5 (or +3 in the case of cold-iron). I have been told that rules as written shouldn't count temporary enhancements in this, but in practice once you get to +5, it doesn't matter what type of resistance they have. this can be easily confirmed by enchanting someone's weapon to +3 in Act 1, and you will see you won't have any more damage resistance from dretches and schirs, as you will not be bypassing cold-iron by virtue of having a +3 weapon.

    I just discovered how useful the Flowing Scales armor is for early game, I'm starting to think it might be able to carry your character indefinitely through a Shaman's armor buffs. Fiery Body adds 3D6 fire damage to your attacks, Firebrand adds another 1D6. That’s worth picking up Ascendant Element: Fire for at least some characters, if they use another flaming weapon - especially Rupturing Storm scimitar.

    • @duyhaduong5306

      Yes, but I found it best if you cast fire spell as well. cause some class can remove DR or just use Bane of Spirit relic-ring.

  • @SqueakingLion
    @SqueakingLion ปีที่แล้ว +3

    A good thing to remember is that, since almost every enemy in the game has fire and acid resistance and later also adds cold resistance, AND every demon is completely immune to electricity... many of buffs you can give yourself won't be very effective unless you have the Ascendant Element of that type when casting the buff, or the amount of damage caused is high enough to surpass their resistance reliably. Your typical demon, for example, has a fire resistance and acid resistance of 10: this means that buffs that do a single die of damage are completely negated, since even a maxed roll of 1d10 is still entirely blocked by their resistance. This means that even if your Flaming Sword of Awesomeness does 1d6 fire damage, and has a buff that adds 2d6 extra fire damage to each attack, the game does not interpret that as 3d6 fire damage vs. a Fire Resistance 10... the game interprets that as two separate energy sources, so it's 1d6 fire damage vs. Fire Resistance 10 (negated entirely) and 2d6 fire damage vs. Fire Resistance 10 (pray for a high roll). The sword still does its base damage either way, but the fire damage.... well, it mostly goes poof.
    Sadly, this includes Jharsygax (unless they changed him somehow to ignore elemental resistances... since his buff is separate and the resistance applies to every source of energy individually, it stands to reason his elemental damage buff will be useless on most enemies). Which is really too bad, because I like the little guy. He looks good on paper... not so much in game. Admittedly, I haven't experimented with this, so I could be wrong about our little dragon buddy.
    To have any elemental damage get past this standard resistance of 10, you would have to do a minimum of 2d6 damage and pray you roll an 11 or 12, which gets reduced to 1 or 2 points of that elemental damage... even 3d6 will have a huge portion of the damage absorbed. So the higher the buff's level, the better... and Ascendant Element on the caster of the buff will help considerably. But this also means most weapons that come with elemental buffs on them add almost no damage, since most weapons with elemental damage included rarely do enough to push past the typical WotR monster's resistance level of 10. This is the main reason why critical hit chance increases are the best thing to add to your weapons.
    The untyped damage and sonic damage really is the best buff you can add to your weapon (there ARE a couple of demons who have sonic resistance, but very few have this). This is NOT to say elemental buffs on your characters are useless, because as you get higher level and you can cause more damage with your buffs, the typical elemental resistances get overwhelmed fairly handily. But at lower levels, skip on the fire and acid damage unless (again) you have the appropriate Ascendant Element... it's a waste of a spell slot.

    • @cRPGBro
      @cRPGBro ปีที่แล้ว

      The good thing is starting from Chapter 3, which is when most enemies with multi elemental DR start appearing, you'll already have easy access to the Bane of Spirit Ring to convert ALL damage into irresistible force. I talk about it at 20:13

    • @SqueakingLion
      @SqueakingLion ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cRPGBro yeah, the bane of spirit is very useful. But I don't know if you want to use that against trash mobs, more like something you'd use against bosses. Since trash mobs have that elemental resistance too, it can be a bit of a hassle. I'm sorry if it sounded like I was trying to counter your video, I really wasn't. More like trying to add in a caveat. A lot of people see a huge number of buffs and think it's amazing, but a lot of buffs doesn't necessarily equal a lot of power. Not until higher level, anyway. Chapter 3 really is about the time when you can achieve a high enough level to make those buffs worthwhile. Good call.

      its completely stupid that those are the only two paths that can merge. every single mythic should be able to merge with either arcane casters or divine casters, or both. there is absolutely no reason for it to not be like that. this game is completely broken balance wise, and there is zero semblance of balance between characters. so the argument that it would be too OP is completely irrelevant, because there are already stupidly OP broken builds in this game that can solo stuff with no gear on unfair, when 95% of the builds would get absolutely destroyed. so there is no balance between builds already. there is absolutely no reason all the mythics are not able to merge with all arcane casters, or all divine casters or both(as in you choose which one). they got a mod that adds more, but even that one is limited and doesnt allow you to do things like sorc merged with trickster, ect.
