I have an LS1 Camaro and I don;t celebrate the death of Pontiac at all. The Firebird was the sister car to the Camaro and I love them both and wish we had a new Firebird
Aluze idk I had both before and they were modded I had an 02 camaro LS1 6speed and a WS6 trans am and to be honest I loved my camaro it grew on me more but it was something about that ws6 man how loud it was that thing turned heads
I do have to say that I own a Sebring Silver Metallic 2000 Chevrolet Camaro z28 and they really are a monster of a car, it doesn't bother me one bit when people call it a poor man's Corvette because at the end of the day I would rather be yelled at for driving a loud Camaro then laughed at for driving a loud Honda.
Also forgot, Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham, Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser, Chevy Caprice, Chevy Caprice PPV, Pontiac G8, and every Chevrolet truck (since you're gonna call them ALL "Corvette" engines)
That's true depending on where you live. I've seen C5's dropping in value over the past few years, enough to where you can get a high mileage example for $10k or less if you know where to look and you're willing to travel to get one. I paid $17k for my 98 with 43k miles a couple years ago, but that's on the high end of C5 prices until you start talking Z06 prices.
Rocker Pat and not all corvette engines are special. Some had less power than my 94 blazer, which itself is nothin to brag about. With its 210hp at the flywheel from the factory and maybe getting half that to the wheels when it WAS still running. People and their "corvette engines" have always got on my nerves. Even if it did come out of a vette, it's an ls1 and 20 years old. Not a big deal anymore. I can get a truck motor with more power.
It’s easy to find them cheap ,, and for a reason 1: Wore out 2: In need of repair 3: Tranny shot 4: Interior trashed and 7 Orange dash lights that won’t go off 5: It was raced daily for 5 years 6: Head gaskets shot , heads warped 7: Interior carpet full of mustard stains, ketchup, interior leather shredded and cracked 8: Basically it was the Uber of the community trailer park and wasn’t maintained or cared for ,, so of course it’s cheap .
I got a 98 trans am with 116k miles for 5k, 5 years ago. No issues since, it's my daily driver too. I've had many offers on it, people sure do love the LS1 engine
The car will be in bad shape for those prices. I own a 1999 Firehawk Trans Am with 12k original miles. Don't even ask unless you're bringing $25k minimum.
All awesome cars but my favourit is the Impala SS and the Buick Roadmaster because I love this big American fullsize sedans. But there are hard to find and mostly over 20K in Europe.
Daniel28021991 96 Roadmaster Collectors Edition with the interior upgrade. Add swaybars, upgrade shocks, 323 posi, off shelf tune. Disconnect the variable power steering at firewall. Rarer than an Impala SS. Drives out just as good as the SS or 9C1when sway bars upgraded on Roadie. More comfort. Better Sleeper. The man ignores you. The Roadie or a Wagon has my vote for Imp SS substitute. We could make a fortune exporting these things??
I have a 94 Trans am I bought new. Was so much fun back in the day. AND STILL IS. My car has 337.000 miles on it, engine never been touched. Still running great. And thanks to excellent care, still looks nearly new, inside and out. I love it and will never sell it. I have had 5 new cars over the years, but the Trans am is a keeper.
Theirs one where I live for like 3500. 96 impala ss well as couple weeks ago. Look on Facebook marketplace in crestview florida. It's a pretty decent car. Definitely a great project.
I have a mostly stock 93 z28 automatic and am a retired GM tech with more than 30 yrs in the business. I bought my 93 for $600 on face book market place non opt. For 6 yrs. Towed it home replaced the fuel pump assy and been driving it ever since! A set of Corvette Gran sport chrome wheels and sticky tires and I have my bucket list fulfilled! This car is more fun then any human should be allowed to have! It can make the hairs stand up on my back and neck and still be a daily driver. I love this car and thanks GM for this masterpiece!
The Pontiac GTO are by far my favorite models on this list. I can't believe it wasn't more successful. Holden makes truly great cars. They are underappreciated as a car manufacturer. Anyway, I really like the Camaro and Trans Am. They are a close 2nd and 3rd. I prefer the Trans Am over the Camaro.
Own a 96 Impala ss for 17 years , and has been the best 17 yrs of my driving life so far . So many people wanted to buy that car from me ,every time I pulled in for gas at a gas station . Big Black and went like hell for a 2 ton tank on wells . . Previous cars included 69 ss camaro .88 M/C ss . 68 Impala ss 396. and many others . Such a fun car to drive , even with it's quirky problems.
The impala ss and buick roadmaster didn't come with corvette engines. They had iron heads while the corvette had aluminum heads. They also had lower compression and a smaller cam than corvette.
You are Correct SIR. None of these car has a Corvette engine in them. The Corvette has a specific RPO CODE. That stands for Regular production order. This is all like saying a 78 c10 has a Corvette engine just because it's a small block. Not everyone understand though. I literally clicked on the video to see if anyone else gets it. None of these cars have anything but the engine that matches it's name plate. Rock on Brother!!! You Rock!!!
The f bodies had corvette engines. The Ls1 and LS6 was the same in all three minus a tune. Now the corvette had higher options like the Ls7 but the lower tier vettes totally the same minus parts for vehicle specific fitment ie: the batwing oil pan.
+Travis Callahan Sorry, wrong. Rpo codes are different. The F Body did not have the same TUNE. That is the cylinder head and camshaft profile. Just because it's a Lt1, Ls1, or Ls2 Doesn't make it a Corvette engine. I worked for Chevy and Buick dealerships when ALL these cars were new The tune up is what makes it the Rpo codes and you can't get the Corvette Rpo codes engine in any other car BUT A CORVETTE!!! Again a 1978 c10 does not share the same engine, even though they are both 350 cud small blocks!!! There is no way around it. A Corvette engine is a Corvette engine. You wouldn't say a Corvette has a Roadmaster engine would you? Even though they are the "same "? No you would not. So it goes the other way as well. A Corvette engine is a different Rpo code. Enjoy your evening.
MOST H8D actually the lt1 in the corvette was different from any other lt1 in a production car at the time. All corvette blocks were 4 bolt mains, everything else was 2bolt, with smaller cams and different heads.
I remember 9th grade when one of the teachers at my school bought a brand new 2002 trans am with the huge hood scoop in fire engine red. We would get on the school bus at the end of the school day and envy that teacher with our jaws dropped to the floor. So wish i can find one of these when i have the cash to buy one.
I had two Buick Roadmaster Limiteds and I cut the catalytic converters off both of them and left the factory resonators on. I also deleted the rev limiter on them and people were always surprised at the sound and at how fast they were. Still my favorite car from the 90's 'til today.
I just bought a 1995 Firebird Formula. It has 52k miles and I bought it for 9500 plus tags and title and stuff. I have driven it once and I barely know stick but it is my favorite car now!
I have owned 3 Camaros (85 Z28, 94 V6, 01 Z28) a Firebird (99T/A) and currently still own an 04 GTO. Loved them all. I've also currently got a 12 SRT Challenger but the GTO is still by far my favorite!
I have actually been looking hard for a 2004-2006 GTO. Those things are such badass cars and give you a hell of a bang for the bucks! Having a hard time finding one for under 8500 tho!
It depends were u were at CHP had the 5.7 needes the speed most police cars had the 4.3l99 but all caprice wagons had lt1s they were not made with 4.3s i repeat all wagons had the lt1
I bought a 2001 Pontiac TA off the showroom floor when I became a Fulltime driver at UPS. I will always be a Pontiac guy and will never sell the car even though I have a Challenger Hellcat sitting right next to it. Lol!
FYI, the old LT1's came in two (2) different configurations. The Corvette, had a four (4) bolt main block, this was the strongest engine of all the Lt1's produced. All other LT1 configurations in ALL other models, (camaro, impala. buick, cadillac, etc.) came with two (2) bolt main blocks.
GXP with the Manual. Beast mode! Way to expensive and rare as hell now, "might" be a challenge finding one all stock. But it was a joy driving it when I had the chance.
the impala are still highly priced and everybody knows what they have so the price never budge and most of the time there in need of a lot of work I thank when it comes down to it if you can find a old Detective /cop car impala you my have a better car that been keep up and not beat to crap the road master is often the ghetto sled and tore all to pieces on the inside unless you get it from a little old lady or a old man
just dug my 1998 ta out from the sideyard and began its resurrection..I never knew this about it, but always wondered why it was waaay faster than my 96 formula....thanks for the video!
Really? Instead of putting the Corvette V8 in these Buick and Impalas in 90s they should have put it in the 2 door Monte Carlo instead of giving them only v6?
C.J Jones those were v6 though:( then when they finally put a v8 in it, the transmission was too weak lol I still like them anyway. And the Grand Prix gxp also. Badass cars
There is nothing wrong with the 4-speed auto mated to the LT1 in the Impala SS. Like the much loved 9C1 Caprice police package it was modeled after, the Impala SS would still take a Ford CVPI to school. And aside from shared platform and powertrain with the Buick, the road manners of of the SS were very different from the Roadmaster. So no, you don't have almost the exact same thing if you buy a Roadmaster.
I have heard that the speed hierarchy at GM for power and acceleration was this; 1 Chevrolet Corvette, 2 Pontiac Trans Am, 3 Chevrolet. I have owned three of the 9C1 Caprice, a 1994 and two 1995. The third car was a total loss car. I had lots of parts. These cars were big fun and to this date they are the only cars a have bought and sold for the same price I bought them for.
nice video BRO !! I see your in South Florida. I am too. I have owned 3 camaro's in the past and 1 GTO. Now I have a 2016 Dodge charger RT !! awesome video.....brought me back in time. The memories !
great job on this..and true, the LS1 did have the same HP # as the 'vette, 350HP for those in the know..my black WS6 is my baby, and loved how accurate you were with all your facts..the old GM high tech performance mag tested a 35th anniversary T/A with an auto and ran a 12.9 with the t-tops off and a 99 SS with man 6 speed got a 12.8 in 92* degree heat...the LS1's ran strong.
Not a bad review but I'm confused why you think the 98-02 Trans Am made the "Chevy boys shake in their boots" since EVERY V8 Camaro from 82-02 was either identical in performance to its V8 Firebird counterpart for the year or slightly better, notice I said V8 because there was only ONE year Pontiac made Chevy including the Corvette "shake in their boots" during those years and that was with the 1989 with the V6 Turbo Trans Am which Chevy did not offer an equivalent, I own a SINISTER Black 2002 WS6 and imo if you're talking looks wise it makes not only Chevy but just about every car on the road shake in their boots..
The pontiacs were always tenth or more quicker and at least 3mph faster in quarter mile than the camaro. Top speed also few mph faster.Aerodynamics made the difference plus the Chevy has not as effective intake location for ss models compared to ws6 or firehawks. Not that the SS camaro isn't a great car also.
If we're talking price, the first gen CTS-V is affordable. I got my 2005 2 1/2 years ago for $9995 so I'd guess the price has come down a bit. For 2004-2005 they had the LS6 5.7 that has 400 bhp. For 2006-2007 the engine was upgraded to the LS2 6.0 but still with 400 bhp. These were available with only the Tremec T56 6 speed so for the automatic only crowd... Sorry. That's all followed up with a 3.73 limited slip. Can you imagine a Cadillac outfitted with this drivetrain? Yes it is fun to drive...
Rob Z I know have a stock 98 auto that dynoed at 318 and my 99 WS6 dynoed when stock at 338 hp great cars and can be modded like hell ... best bang for the buck ....
Same. My 2000 Trans Am M6 dynoed at a 310rwhp with a bad wheel bearing on a pretty crappy day for dynoing at 4,800+ft elevation. The bearing finally blew a few days later and replaced it with a new fabbed 9" with 4:11's
Buick makes some awesome sleepers! I had an 01 century, only bought it because I needed a car for work.. Well to my surprise that 3.8 would scream! For on $1000 I had lots of fun with it :)
My 01,T/A ram air auto.put down 306rwhp,bone stock,and I saw some 6 speeds,put down 311-315 rwhp,bone stock,and mine ran a best of 13:41 at a 108mph,bone stock while some 6speeds ran 13:30s.what a car.
@@michaelmoulder4119 you just couldn't afford to keep it up. Water pump replacement few hundred bucks. Optispark replacement about 800 bucks. Big deal. Each one usually lasts about 60.000 miles. My lt1 Trans am I bought brand new has 337.000 miles on it, engine never been touched. Runs perfectly.
@@stevefranklin8052 let's see, it was the year 1999 I was 19, the car had around 33k miles. So yeah I guess couldn't afford to keep fixing the pos. Bought a 95 5.0 mustang gt and guess what? It wasn't a pos. Never gave me a. problem. Now after 20 years as automotive technician guess what? I still think they're a pos unless you get rid of the OPTi spark. The gen 3 and newer small block is a superior engine. Do your self a favor and swap in a LQ4 6.0L or a LQ9 6.0L you'll be a lot happier.
Agreed, the engine is the car is how it should be. The engine should be glamorized. Like it should impressive to say you have an LS motor, not a "Corvette" motor... GM produced that engine for more than one application...
I agree. I tell people I never thought of owning a Cadillac but I did want an LS engine. I bought my CTS-V not because it is a Cadillac but it is an aberration considering what people think a Cadillac is. I am so happy Cadillac decided against the Northstar for the CTS-V. That dog engine came in the STS-V and the XLR-V. The XLR-V should have had an LS engine... Too late Cadillac...
You might want to check your values on the GTO. Some with under 100,000 miles on them are going over $10,000. I have seen some with under 50k miles going for 20k plus.
All the car people watching this already know this the cars you showed had a LT1 and those were the worst engines Chevy made a lot of people know that unless you know barley anything about cars and they only made them for a few years and then they started the Ls
Yeah they really we're idk if the dude that recorded this knows that. he probably knows a lil bit of cars if he doesn't know the LT1 was the worst engine Chevy produced. the Lt1 is a complete other engine also when Chevy started the LS they redid the whole engine so a Lt1 has less power then the LS did when they first produced it and it still does to this day. What I'm trying to say is don't buy a Lt1 engine and just say oh it's basically a LS well people it's not completely different.
Im a ford guy (well mustang really), but I owned an automatic 04 GTO and I actually liked it. It was stock besides a stall converter, bilket servo and cold air and my driver mod. I beat a lot of cars on that thing. I was beating the 6.0 Gtos (manual), 6 litre vettes and even some bikes (come to find out, one of the bikes i smoked was a buddy of mine, he couldn't believe it and his exact quoted words were, "that fkers fast". I will never forget this built EVO I smoked one night way past a quarter mile (hilarious story but too much to post, I'll tell in the reply), he ran out of gear before he caught me at about 140 and the guy in the back says, "I want one of those". I hit 160 in it once and it felt like it waned to keep climbing but I ran out of road. No one believed me it was stock but it didn't even have exhaust on it. I highly doubt it was tuned before I bought it but it was a monster for some reason.
Story about the built evo I smoked in my stock 04 GTO. So I was at the gas station with my buddy in his 98 dodge ram, and when we walked out there was an evo that pulled up. So I stood in front of it doggin' it (I've never really likes imports especially some of their drivers) and I asked whose Evo is this. So this dude points at his buddy and says, "it's his", in a sarcastic voice. So I asked if he wanted to race. He goes what ya got, I said a GTO, which was around the corner at my buddy's house. So he smirks and says, " yea he'll race ya". So I said, "I'll be right back in 2mins, don't leave". They kinda blew me off like "yea right", but we hurried and got the Gto and when I pulled back into the gas station they were trying to leave. So I slid around the gas pumps sideways and pull behind them. I followed him and the first guy I asked whose car it was, was driving. So like most import guys do, he tried to run instead of honking it off, and I was right behind him. So we get to this light and he started to rev and hit his launch control/2-step. I wasn't having any of that 2-step shyt and the tires were already a little hot from the prior race so I literally launched like a 1/4 of a second before the light turned green and it was perfect. I got out on him about 4-5 cars and he started to reel me in but he ran out of gear as he got about 2 cars behind me and we were at about 140mph and I still had another gear to go (I've measured where we raced from my odo and it was .83miles) So they roll up after and the guy in the back (who the driver pointed to at the had station and said, "it's his car"), says, "I want one of those" (he probably walked home). All me and my buddy could do was laugh because he thought I was lying about having a car to race and then he got smoked. That's why I never liked imports much. Their drivers are cockier than cocky and they dump all this money into them, have all these upgrades and boost but can't keep up with a stock GTO. Plus my first car out of highschool in 2004 was a high 12 sec car and back then there weren't too many fast cars around like today. Even though I have a car that has 3 times the horsepower now, I really miss that car. The bike story is funny too but I'm sure no one cares so I'll save it. When I was younger, still do, I literally uses to just go out and look for races all night. My chick worked at the Paris Hotel and Casino here in Las Vegas and got off work at 2a.m. So i would be driving around looking for races, waiting for her to get off work. I would turn around and follow cars trying to antagonize them to race me and you should hear a lot of the excuses I heard from import drivers. I seen a Acr Srt-4 fly down the road at about 100mph. So I go and catch up to him and asked if he wanted to race and he says, "it's for show, I don't race it". like I didn't just see him fly down the street, but whatever.
So the story about the bike. Me and my buddy were driving and a bike goes flying past us. So of course, I go to catch up to him. We turn down a 2 lane street at a light (well I slid the corner), and the bike gets on it and does a wheelie, by the time he layed it back down, I passed him and started pulling on him and he tried running me down. I was in the left lane and another Gto (red) was in front of me. So I went into the middle lane (break down lane) and pass it and when I looked back the bike was about 3 car lengths or 6 bike lengths, behind and stayed there . So he rolls up next to me at the next stop sign and says, "that fkers fast" and at that moment I noticed it was my buddy Brad and the red Gto rolls up on the right (which was a hot chick that I see driving around a lot) and she says, "you guys are crazy!" (in a joking and serious way, because I blew by her at @ least 120+mph down the break down lane). I say, "hey he wanted to race". But no one could believe how fast this stock Gto was from a roll and dig. Since I used to just go out and look for races all day, I have 50 stories I could tell that have funny shyt in them. Like the time I left a note on this guys Srt-4 (black with green flames taking up two parking spots) in an apartment complex and ended up seeing him one day, this was with my built 12sec n/a mustang though. I rolled up next to him and told him i was the one that put the note on his car and we went to a long road and I destroyed him and he goes, "give me 6 months". lol. Just stuff like that all the time. If I had recorded every race I ever had, I'd either, one, be in jail lol, or have footage like 1320, seriously.. Too bad go pros weren't out back then.
I have 2 more stories from my mustang I can tell, if anyone wants to hear (haters and trolls welcome) I will tell. If you like cars like I do, you would want to hear lol.
Impala ss and front quarters, and headlights, and bumper, and grill, and hood and rear doors and trunk lid. Roadmaster wagon on the other hand is an imp
I am going to buy a 1995 Chevy Corvette in about 10 days and it got the LS1 motor, it black with a convertible top, I am excited. After I get the car I am going to have all the services done and go to Florida and get some warm weather!
HotWheels 44 Sadly, they're following the current trend of boring crossovers and midsize SUVs. At least Dodge/Chrysler still has some entertaining cars.
Jack Paskievitch I, personally would consider the C7 Z06, Grand Sport, Stingray, ZL1, ZL1 1LE, SS, SS 1LE, and CTS-V entertaining. Lol Fiat...uh I mean Chrysler has the Hellcat, Demon, Trackhawk and that's about it.
Thank you for this video! I did not know anything about all this. I am leaning toward trans am. Where I live, there are several that are almost dirt cheap. Thanks.
You forgot the first gen (2004-2007) Cadillac CTS V. They came from the factory with a 400hp LS2 or LS6, depending on the year and can be had for around 10k.
Nice I like all the cars in the video, especially the Pontiac Trans Am, my friend had a 1999 Black one withe a 6 speed manual, and ram air It was very fast and fun :)
Just speaking lt1's here's the issue with ur claim of "Corvette engine"....a lt1 in a Vette is 4 bolt main with aluminum heads. The lt1 in Camaro/trans am is 2 bolt main and aluminum heads. The lt1 in the b-body cars are 2 bolt main and have iron heads......yeah there all still a lt1 but they didn't make em specifically for the Corvette so don't look like an idiot and go up to a guy in a Camaro and tell him it's a Corvette engine. We will just laugh at u and tell u to get back in ur Honda.
I was not aware of the block differences but thought was a head difference instead like the old L98 being aluminum headed on vetted and iron on f bodies thus increasing the compression on the later.
Want cheap, and fast LS power? Get a Regular Cab, Short Bed Silverado with a 5.3. Cheaper than all of these cars and respond to mods just the same as the rest of these cars.
Avoid LT1 at all costs, unless you like overpaying for maintenance. It's reverse flow, so absolutely nothing from a regular small block will fit on it, and they put the distributor right where it shouldn't be... under the water pump. They run inferno hot, so be prepared for head gasket and rod bearing failures. Now the GM B body does have room enough for a decent sized radiator, but the L98 or the LS engine lineup are far better choices if you're looking for something to daily reliably.
Midnight Mechanic there are plenty of components the LT1 can use from Gen I SBCs . Roller Cam, vortec timing chain (fits under stock timing cover), rocker arms, pushrods, connecting rods, pistons. Block and heads are different yes but can still run a distributor either using a gen 1 intake redrilled to fit lt1 heads or using lt1 carb manifold. The Lt1 block has a higher nickel content than most 70's and 80's SBCs.
Midnight Mechanic The engineering target was a 500,000 mile brevity for LT1.Ive seen a bunch of them push that target mileage and still run like a raped ape. The aluminum head LT1s custom tuned lean, spray candy used off and on most its life, in body types with barely any grill opening, and flogged like theres no tomorrow must be the ones you refer to. Nothings gonna thrive well in that environment. Gen lll are nice and make tasty noises. I dig em to, but I enjoy the Gen ll more on principle alone. Im more impressed with a 65 year old design that can still hang with modern engineering. Yeah its pricey to service B bodys are more slippery than the modern Charger. An old B Body with a few tweaks will still hang with a late model Charger on the big end. That new Hemi gets there quicker but that brick shape eats the power advantage quick north of tripple digit. The look on their faces is priceless when you reel them in and march on by.
Rods and pistons are not the same. Cam is also not the same it has to drive the waterpump. LT1 is an ok platform that didn't have enough of a lifespan for parts to be reasonable.
And considering the LT1 being reverse flow, this is what really killed the dependability of the platform. Regular oil ran too hot in the engine so synthetic was required, because of course GM had a little back alley deal with Mobil 1, because they assume that since regular people can't afford a Corvette, they shouldn't be able to afford the oil either. The L98 is a Corvette engine that predated the LT1, but is far more reliable due to being a general small block with Corvette heads and fuel injection.
The upper timing com from the timing set drives the smaller cog that drives the water pump. I run an electric water pump and use a vortec timing chain with a scat crank & rods that can be used with 1986 up 1 piece rear main block. There has been variances even with the early gen 1s 265 vs 327 . 1992-94 had rods just like the Pink rods from earlier. 95-96 had powdered. Stock crank is nearly balanced identically to the weight of a 305 1986 up.
Its neither an engine that belongs to one car or the other. When OEMs make an engine, they design them for several platforms since it's cheaper. Just respect the LT1 and LS1 engines without association to what they go in...
Got a 98 trans am ws6 auto for $6700 originally posted for $7000 with 83,000 miles hit the guy up a hour after he posted it on Craigslist told him I was serious bought it the next day best looking 4th gens imo :)
That's because they were made at different years. If they continued the production to a trans am they would've raped camaros, mustangs, slow ass heavy srt8 and more.
I'm from Australia LS's are everywhere, Ive got a supercharged 383 ls1 in my ss commodore theres like 5 or 6 other people on my street alone that have LS powered Holdens, Factory and non Factory.

Finally someone giving respect to the forth gen Camaro it's so under appreciated for what it is
Moto Gamz I love my 01 ss
Hey Chevrolet you should do some videos on it
Moto Gamz thats because the 4th gen camaro is ugly as shit, no one was buying them and they got axed.
george palacios you say their ugly as shit yet you dive a Harley truck or at least use to smh
Moto Gamz ...i'ma proud ownwe of a '93 Z28...
if you Love Chevy then lets get 2K Likes!👍
The red 04 GTO racing the mustang is mine. Thanks for making the awesome vid.
Jason Ketchel very nice car
Mr Random Reviews chevy sucks 🅱️
Robin Oster I'm sure that's why alot of fox body mustang guys are LS swapping there engines
^ salty 10 YEAR old
Where are you finding the prices for the ws6 more like 11k -19k
Duffy Unknown I legit just saw the car in this videos twin for 6500 on Craigslist but it’s gone now:,(.
It’s easy to find them cheap ,, and for a reason
1: Wore out
2: In need of repair
3: Tranny shot
4: Interior trashed and 7 Orange dash lights that won’t go off
5: It was raced daily for 5 years
6: Head gaskets shot , heads warped
7: Interior carpet full of mustard stains, ketchup, interior leather shredded and cracked
8: Basically it was the Uber of the community trailer park and wasn’t maintained or cared for ,, so of course it’s cheap .
I got a 98 trans am with 116k miles for 5k, 5 years ago. No issues since, it's my daily driver too. I've had many offers on it, people sure do love the LS1 engine
Paid 3500 for mine not a ws6 but it is a ls ta
The car will be in bad shape for those prices. I own a 1999 Firehawk Trans Am with 12k original miles. Don't even ask unless you're bringing $25k minimum.
I love the 4th gen Trans Am and Camaro. I picked up a '97 camaro for 1k and fixed it up and now have a nice old muscle car!
CarGuyV8 ya I got a 95 z28 running 315 hp
CarGuyV8 im working on a third gen and about to do an ls1 swap
Taylor Rittenhouse so stock?
I have always wanted a Corvette. True American sports car.
All awesome cars but my favourit is the Impala SS and the Buick Roadmaster because I love this big American fullsize sedans. But there are hard to find and mostly over 20K in Europe.
Daniel28021991 not that hard to find in USA thy are everywhere down here just let me know when your ready
Daniel28021991 Had a 95 9c1
Daniel28021991 where in europe...at those prices...ill get them to u...lol
Spahi77 I'll help ya.. I know where 100 of these cars are at
I have a 94 Trans am I bought new.
Good luck finding a 94-96 Impala for under 10k
Especially one that isn't donked out
Theirs one where I live for like 3500. 96 impala ss well as couple weeks ago. Look on Facebook marketplace in crestview florida. It's a pretty decent car. Definitely a great project.
There everywhere for 10k and under. The ones that are more then 10k have low miles. A 96’ DCM impala ss just sold for 25k with 15 original miles
In my city you must have good luck finding one for sale period almost everybody wants to keep them but you can find roadmasters everywhere
They're everywhere. They're worthless.
This is common knowledge for any car guy.
What about the trailblazer ss with the ls2
Arnoldo Chavez too expensive
Arnoldo Chavez can't usually get those for under 10k unless they have a boatload of miles
i had a 08 saab aero 97x with the corvettes motor
RYANCINNAMON you swapped it?
Trailblazer is a truck / SUv not a car ;D
I worked for Chevy and Buick dealerships when ALL these cars were new
The tune up is what makes it the Rpo codes and you can't get the Corvette Rpo codes engine in any other car BUT A CORVETTE!!!
Rocker Pat Wrong! TPI, LT1/LT4 and LS1 Corvettes and Camaro/Firebirds had the same exact engines as well as RPO code.
I have a 1994 camaro z28 t top that I got for $1200 and is amazing
buy it like you did and stuff a big block in her
I know, I have never loved a car like my 93 red z28. Pleasure to drive and looks great.
I had two Buick Roadmaster Limiteds and I cut the catalytic converters off both of them and left the factory resonators on. I also deleted the rev limiter on them and people were always surprised at the sound and at how fast they were. Still my favorite car from the 90's 'til today.
95 Chevy caprice classic had an lt1 also. 342 posi rear end
Facts
I just bought a 1995 Firebird Formula. It has 52k miles and I bought it for 9500 plus tags and title and stuff. I have driven it once and I barely know stick but it is my favorite car now!
Gotta love a black ws6.
:-) Just bought a stock '02 Z28 vert today. Had to drive it an hour and a half home. No regrets.
Where the hell are you finding "decent" F Body Camaro SS and TA WS6 for under $10k?! 😂😂
Texas
Huh bra
you can get the 1994 Lt1 ones pretty cheap
Everywhere
I just picked up a 99 z28 drop top for $1800 deals r out there...
I have owned 3 Camaros (85 Z28, 94 V6, 01 Z28) a Firebird (99T/A) and currently still own an 04 GTO. Loved them all. I've also currently got a 12 SRT Challenger but the GTO is still by far my favorite!
A 1999-2002ws6 is like 12-16k where im at😳
They price range is pretty significant depending on where you live. Bought my 2000 Trans Am M6(non ws6) for $8500 with under 67k miles.
Ya most are as well near detroit. I looked for 3 years and finally found a 2002 Trans Am WS6 M6 with 94k miles for $8000. Hard work pays off!
I just got a 98' TA ls1 with 78k miles for $6400 ayy
I seen a ws6 for 16 k in Illinois
CalypsoNotch408 A4, but yeah 78,000 miles super clean
I have actually been looking hard for a 2004-2006 GTO. Those things are such badass cars and give you a hell of a bang for the bucks! Having a hard time finding one for under 8500 tho!
94-96 Caprice,Roadmaster and Cadillac Fleetwood brougham also had the same lt1 with 260hp
I love my 93 z28 it will never leave me. I saved up all last summer to buy it and made it my first car.
You missed the 1994-96 Caprice Estate (wagon)
came with l99 mostly
It depends were u were at CHP had the 5.7 needes the speed most police cars had the 4.3l99 but all caprice wagons had lt1s they were not made with 4.3s i repeat all wagons had the lt1
I looked the video up just to mention the caprice
@@Memphisgrindtv wagons came stock with the LT1, actually. Sedans came with the L99 stock.
@@hooligan_3928 true story
What’s even better is a truck with a corvette motor!!
I miss Pontiac :(
I bought a 2001 Pontiac TA off the showroom floor when I became a Fulltime driver at UPS.
My '94 Z28 had a 4 bolt.
The aluminum head versions also had roller rocker arms and drop right in a Caprice wagon. Impala SS is the shit, but they always gonna be pricey.
Pontiac G8?
CoLdSiNcE92 I have a gt and i love it
GXP with the Manual. Beast mode! Way to expensive and rare as hell now, "might" be a challenge finding one all stock. But it was a joy driving it when I had the chance.
I dont know if there is a corvette engine in it. i do know that theres no way in fuck youre getting a g8 under 10k so thats why its not on here duh
Jarred L The GXP model has the Corvette's 6.2 LS3.
but it's not under 10k....
I just love that Impala SS in the thumbnail.
the impala are still highly priced and everybody knows what they have so the price never budge and most of the time there in need of a lot of work I thank when it comes down to it if you can find a old Detective /cop car impala you my have a better car that been keep up and not beat to crap the road master is often the ghetto sled and tore all to pieces on the inside unless you get it from a little old lady or a old man
just dug my 1998 ta out from the sideyard and began its resurrection..I never knew this about it, but always wondered why it was waaay faster than my 96 formula....thanks for the video!
Really? Instead of putting the Corvette V8 in these Buick and Impalas in 90s they should have put it in the 2 door Monte Carlo instead of giving them only v6?
Chris Masters that’s why the is a Monte Carlo SS
C.J Jones those were v6 though:( then when they finally put a v8 in it, the transmission was too weak lol I still like them anyway. And the Grand Prix gxp also. Badass cars
already have one ive had it 6yrs and payed 12000 with 29000 miles love it nice!! video
Everything is wrong with the 4L60E. They weren't that strong of a transmission. But since only old people bought them, they couldn't offer a manual
I like the GMC cyclone/typhoon butthere still pretty high in price
RC create they will only go up
GMC Syclone/Typhoon are turbo V6's
Anthony Webber yes but beat corvettes pretty bad
Anthony Webber yup... Grand National spin offs... #buickowner
Dwayne Turner grand national was a rwd 3.8, syclone and typhoon was awd 4.3
nice video BRO !! I see your in South Florida. I am too. I have owned 3 camaro's in the past and 1 GTO. Now I have a 2016 Dodge charger RT !! awesome video.....brought me back in time. The memories !
forgot to mention Cadillac fleetwood had lt engine and oldsmobile custom cruiser
great job on this..and true, the LS1 did have the same HP # as the 'vette, 350HP for those in the know..my black WS6 is my baby, and loved how accurate you were with all your facts..the old GM high tech performance mag tested a 35th anniversary T/A with an auto and ran a 12.9 with the t-tops off and a 99 SS with man 6 speed got a 12.8 in 92* degree heat...the LS1's ran strong.
Jay Leno says the same. They killed Trans Am because it was taking sales from Corvette.
The 98 TA was 305 horse and WS6 was 320 both low numbers .
eddie villegas those are good numbers
Rob Z I know have a stock 98 auto that dynoed at 318 and my 99 WS6 dynoed when stock at 338 hp great cars and can be modded like hell ... best bang for the buck ....
Same. My 2000 Trans Am M6 dynoed at a 310rwhp with a bad wheel bearing on a pretty crappy day for dynoing at 4,800+ft elevation. The bearing finally blew a few days later and replaced it with a new fabbed 9" with 4:11's
Typically, GM underrated all of the V8 engines. Especially that gen, some WS6 cars dyno'd higher than their rating. So 320whp x 113% = 362flywheel hp.
eddie villegas underrated
Buick makes some awesome sleepers! I had an 01 century, only bought it because I needed a car for work.. Well to my surprise that 3.8 would scream! For on $1000 I had lots of fun with it :)
My 84 k10 has the same engine they put in the corvettes in that time. Sbc's were in basically every chevy car
Random Moustache Guy same displacement every car LS engine from 98+ are aluminum truck/SUV are iron
Love the impala SS and trans AM I’ll own one very very soon 👏🏽💯
Every SS available. Pontiac GXP models. LS and LT1's are everywhere these days.
Brandon Boileau *cough cough* pontiac g8 gt *cough cough*
That was the CAM- MASTER that Mr. Regular reviewed!
2008 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP it's FWD but it has a V8 and it's quick
biggie-tubaman97 but its not a corvette motor
Nick Smith i know
biggie-tubaman97 2002 lincoln continental fast asl
Keenan Hatley hell yeah
Keenan Hatley and it's cheap to own
98 SS Camaro = best decision to buy. Car is so fun to drive.
Ws6 in good shape low miles is more than 10k.
stangtrax yes but you can get a trans am or lower submodel that still uses the ls1 for less
Around 16k
My 01,T/A ram air auto.put down 306rwhp,bone stock,and I saw some 6 speeds,put down 311-315 rwhp,bone stock,and mine ran a best of 13:41 at a 108mph,bone stock while some 6speeds ran 13:30s.what a car.
I had a 95 firebird T/A. I loved that car....I kick myself every time I think about it, I should have never sold it.
Yes you should have GM IS TRASH
th-cam.com/video/T23lDbCCMRk/w-d-xo.html
Same here, I had '96
I had a 94 and the lt1 is a pos. Between the leaking water pump to the opti spark it was terrible. It was so bad that I started driving Fords.
I had a 98 and by far the best car I've ever had I loved it.
most chevy/gmc/pontiac/all gm v8s were the corvette engine since its so reliable, look at todays gm v8s....
Ughh..that LT1 is not what I would call reliable..
I bought a 02 Trans am WS6 6speed new back in the day, Was around $30k if I remember correct, fun car it was, nowadays I have C7 Z06.
The car isn't the engine
Agreed, the engine is the car is how it should be. The engine should be glamorized. Like it should impressive to say you have an LS motor, not a "Corvette" motor... GM produced that engine for more than one application...
Yeah it is
I have seen some with under 50k miles going for 20k plus.
thanks bro
All the car people watching this already know this the cars you showed had a LT1 and those were the worst engines Chevy made a lot of people know that unless you know barley anything about cars and they only made them for a few years and then they started the Ls
They are some shitty ass engines
Yeah they really we're idk if the dude that recorded this knows that. he probably knows a lil bit of cars if he doesn't know the LT1 was the worst engine Chevy produced. the Lt1 is a complete other engine also when Chevy started the LS they redid the whole engine so a Lt1 has less power then the LS did when they first produced it and it still does to this day. What I'm trying to say is don't buy a Lt1 engine and just say oh it's basically a LS well people it's not completely different.
Shows what you know once you eliminate opti spark it's a good motor
Ken York they got bad rep because of opti spark, I have one and has 90k with original opti, dead reliable as far as I'm concerned
Ken York I got a ltx in my car not actually a bad engine
If you like cars like I do, you would want to hear lol.
the road master doesn't look like an Impala wtf
How can you say that almost all of the body panels are interchangeable with the exception of the rear quarters
GM was so cool in the 90s and early 2000s. What the hell happened?
HotWheels 44 the 2008 stock market crash happened.
Jack Paskievitch still...you think they would've recovered by now
HotWheels 44 Sadly, they're following the current trend of boring crossovers and midsize SUVs. At least Dodge/Chrysler still has some entertaining cars.
Jack Paskievitch lol Chrysler lost my respect when they pulled out of NASCAR
Jack Paskievitch I, personally would consider the C7 Z06, Grand Sport, Stingray, ZL1, ZL1 1LE, SS, SS 1LE, and CTS-V entertaining. Lol Fiat...uh I mean Chrysler has the Hellcat, Demon, Trackhawk and that's about it.
Thank you for this video! I did not know anything about all this. I am leaning toward trans am. Where I live, there are several that are almost dirt cheap. Thanks.
You forgot about the Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham 1994 - 1996
You forgot the first gen (2004-2007) Cadillac CTS V. They came from the factory with a 400hp LS2 or LS6, depending on the year and can be had for around 10k.
pontiac firebird is my dream car, that or a miata.
fidget spinner I got a '96 firebird and I love it!!
Nice I like all the cars in the video, especially the Pontiac Trans Am, my friend had a 1999 Black one withe a 6 speed manual, and ram air It was very fast and fun :)
Yup my roadmaster have the LT1 engine
Mr Random I ALMOST lost all respect for you on this video, untill you brought out THE MUSCLE car of all time. The TransAm
i love the chevy caprice
in saudi arabia we call the impala caprice ss
I have a White 1999 Pontiac WS6 Trans Am. I bought it in 1999 and I will be buried in it when I die.
Trailblaser ss
That's alot more than 10k
@@AndrewB23 no it's not lmao
I bought/found a 92 Roadmaster loved it and found 2-96 Roadmaster's love them
Just speaking lt1's here's the issue with ur claim of "Corvette engine"....a lt1 in a Vette is 4 bolt main with aluminum heads.
I was not aware of the block differences but thought was a head difference instead like the old L98 being aluminum headed on vetted and iron on f bodies thus increasing the compression on the later.
the 4th gen camaros look so cool, until 98. but the Firebird is fire af
Want cheap, and fast LS power? Get a Regular Cab, Short Bed Silverado with a 5.3. Cheaper than all of these cars and respond to mods just the same as the rest of these cars.
You forgot the mention the roadmaster also comes in a wagon with the lt1 which is kinda crazy
My 2013 Impala has 300 horsepower and over 260 lbs of torque.Bought it for $13000 with only 5600 original miles on it.
bigdog one Yep. My mom actually bought a 2012 for about 13k with the 3.6. They may be a 6cyl, but fuck they're fast
Ch3vyN0va77 quick definitely not fast.
Matthew Dionne LMAO definitely not fast
bigdog one 300hp is average now a days.
Nicely done sir
The WS6 had the killer look in the front!!!
the awkward part is that alot of corvette engine are souped up camaro engine
backwards son. A lot of camero engines are detuned corvette engines.
Travis Callahan lmfao best response
it depends on the year
+driftspeed ,it'd be even better if he spelled camaro right
Its neither an engine that belongs to one car or the other. When OEMs make an engine, they design them for several platforms since it's cheaper. Just respect the LT1 and LS1 engines without association to what they go in...
Screw the GTO, that Impala SS is a thing of beauty.
"Corvette engine." Come on man! lol
I bought a 2006 ctsv with the ls2 6.0 for 9500! In santa clarita was well taken cared of clean title mileage was around 140k but ran like a champ
that ram air trans am would eat a vette up and fyi the black bird edition was 380 h.p
you mean firehawk there is no black bird edition
Got a 98 trans am ws6 auto for $6700 originally posted for $7000 with 83,000 miles hit the guy up a hour after he posted it on Craigslist told him I was serious bought it the next day best looking 4th gens imo :)
Love that impala, so sexy mmmmmm mmmmm, wanted one back in HS days.
Good stuff ! Love the GTO.
I have an SRT8 why would i downgrade to one of these pieces of crap?
Jax Wins pretty sure they can drag your boat.
dont know what that means but these cars dont match u to an SRT8
That's because they were made at different years. If they continued the production to a trans am they would've raped camaros, mustangs, slow ass heavy srt8 and more.
Jax Wins is that why dodge guys and ford guys are using ls engines? Lmao wake up and smell the breakfast dipshit.
A ls1 6speed f body will compete with the Srt8 because of weight stock . When modded ls1 will wipe a hemi I know I have both .
I'm from Australia LS's are everywhere, Ive got a supercharged 383 ls1 in my ss commodore theres like 5 or 6 other people on my street alone that have LS powered Holdens, Factory and non Factory.
