Geoff, along with Jean Alexander was the best actor ever to grace the Street. I was gutted when he left. It's such a shame there weren't more Corrie stars here to honour him coz for me, this will always be Eddie Yates, the funny, scheming, lovable binman
Geoffrey lived on the Isle of Wight as do I, One day I went. Into the 'gift to nature' vintage charity shop in Newport ( a charity that Geoffrey was passionate about) and purchased several immaculately boxed Matchbox cars that I was told were donated by his wife after his death. They now take pride of place in my display cabinet and will be cherished. A Great actor.
I lived on the Isle of Wight for a little while('98-'99).I was in Cowes looking around the shops and i just happened to have my autograph book on me and I saw Geoffrey coming towards me and I asked him for his autograph which I still have.He put 'Onslow' on it also.I shook his hand and thanked him. What a lovely man he was.
I was in a bar in the Mirage in Vegas shortly after he died. A customer next to me started chatting to me, he was American. When he heard I was English he started speaking to me about Geoffrey Hughes who had died recently. He was a big fan. Clearly.
The cast of corrie did a promotional gig in the department store i worked at. At the end of the night he walked through the whole store and shook hands with every member of staff. I even got a kiss. A true gent.
Met him at the Stags Head in Earls Barton once with his wife. Nice man but they just wanted a quiet drink and the locals wouldn't leave them alone so they left
Was in a chippy in scotty road one saturday night when Geoff walked in drunk with a Salmon under his arm and said hey love do you do fishcakes she said yeah he said can you do one for thursday its his Birthday 🎂 😂 smashing bloke ! ❤🙏
Eddie Yates morphed into onslow then into twiggy in the royale family, all pretty much the same character. At least he didn't play a wheeler dealer loveable wise cracking character in heartbeat😅
A fantastic brilliant actor, I always enjoyed any television program that stared Geoffrey Hughes, but for some reason I never liked the This Is Your Life program whoever was on.
What a great character, always like this actor ) sadly, missed) . It’s a pity All the big names could not spare a couple of hours out of they’reso busy self-importance schedule disappointed with the lot of them…… I wonder if any of them actually had the time to attend his funeral , I suppose they were far too busy, making more money .
Yes you make a very good point - Liz Smith and the lad who played Anthony seem to be the only two big names who made the effort - Oh and Linda Robson of course - she being cut from the same cloth - down to earth and big hearted
Didn't see that at all, just a woman who was reserved and soft spoken from a different era from many of todays in your face women - the last 2 minutes showed her so proud to be with him and remember she was not part of the show biz world
@@italianstallion9170 I guess you 2 were looking at a different video to me or expect the OTT reactions of modern missie. She was with him another 11 years and by his bedside at the end of his life.
All I can say is after watching him in his many roles on stage and theatre and then on this . What bloody lovely bloke !!

So sad he passed away too young. R.I.P Geoff.
What a nice chap, his character as Onslow was absolutely brilliant. genuine people like him seem to be hard to find on telly anymore.
There are lots of amazing people on the TV. I work in production and trust me actors are usually top people
@@gumusluk05 Yes but a LOT are very precious and self absorbed ....

This is fantastic, Geoff was from my home city of Liverpool. One of many talented scousers. Fantastic actor much missed.
Lovely fella , never forget him and Ricky Tomlinson in the Royale family decorating and dancing to mambo number five ! Hilarious .
classic scene ,,will go down in sitcom history..

Such a beautiful man with a heart of gold.
basically played the same part in every show but played it that well you never noticed , much loved and much missed.
Tv screen LEGEND that died to young, he was tv gold 👍👍
Yes totally agree
There is good and there is good.. This chap goes past that mark ..The mark most of us could only dream of !!!!!!!!!!!!
Geoffrey Hughes what a talent
One of my favourite actors. 😊😊😊❤️🇫🇷
Remember him most as Twiggy (Royle Family) and Onslow (Keeping Up Appearances). Passed away quite some time ago now, great actor!

Nice one 🫡
Gone but not forgotten 😞😞😞
He was in some of the old hammer films but uncredited.
A bit sad that most of the big names couldn’t manage to turn up.
Yeah, this episode was a bit weird in that regard.
Great actor will always miss you.
@NocturnalGuy I was talking about Geoffrey.
Really enjoyed that, what a nice fella and much missed
Great actor,
Great person
Sadly missed,
A nice nice guy, I had the pleasure of knowing him briefly.
Met him at the Stags Head in Earls Barton once with his wife. Nice man but they just wanted a quiet drink and the locals wouldn't leave them alone so they left
He seemed a lovely man
I thoroughly enjoyed this episode.
He also voiced one of the Beatles in Yellow Submarine
It was paul mcartney, it was mentioned in this clip haha
Ah well I went straight to the video 😂 🤯
@@steveeyre6975 dont blame ya hahaha
Always wanted to see him play a really nasty gangster. I reckon he could of bought quiet menace to the roll.
Ham or egg roll?

I see his legendary characters very different and adore every one of them. Much missed.
Totally uncalled for comment but unfortunately probably reflective of who and where we are today.
Nothing wrong with character actors. For example John LeMesurier always played the same sort of character, but was wonderful at it.
he was amazing

Met him wembley 85.
Everton vs Man United (charity shield)
Good. Like by people. Good man 🙏
I thought Jean Alexander would of come on as Geoff & Jean were very good friends
She was probably invited but declined, she was very rarely convinced to do public appearances later on.
@@damiencrowley2506 She did for Tony Warren in 1995

Good times.
Alright twiglet

Eddie yates❤
Yep, bloody brilliant

Geoff didn't think much of Julie's skit.
@@matthewa.morgan6214 To be fair that probably wasn't her idea.
Thought Geoff’s wife was not happy and bit stand-offish with him, chemistry was also wrong with Geoff to his wife.

like he was trying to stop her walking off..

@@gorse9030Exactly, there for his night not trying to steal any limelight off him in any way. Gotta have the trout pout these days eh 🤦
If you’re seeing that in this programme it says more about your flawed judgement and character to be honest. Ridiculous comment.
Good in heart beat too
