Strange that in America we have Castle Doctrine, but we have no castles. In the UK they have castles, but no right to defend themselves.
There's definitely real castles in America, especially in older parts of the country where there were forts. Some could be better described as 'manors' though, but they are very clearly something that would be easy to describe as medieval.

It's in the small towns you will see more people carry in. This is for two main reasons, fear of strangers and the fact small towns can barely support a sheriff and a deputy or two. If you call 911 the sheriff will probably get to you eventually but you would consider yourself lucky if the sheriff got there within half an hour it would more likely be hours, especially if it was at night.
Small town Missouri, our local banks have signs in the windows encouraging concealed carry for everyones safety.

Too many lawmakers think suppressors actually make that barely audible noise you see in 80's movies, or get in video games. They do lessen the sound considerably, but to get that "silencer" effect, you need something like a bolt action pistol caliber carbine so there's no opporating sounds, a decent can, and pretty weak subsonic ammo. We don't want to be assassins, we just don't want permanent hearing damage from fighting off a burgaler at 3 AM.

I live on land that has been in my family since 1880. I live on 150 acres I have been to England, my mother went to find some family gynecology. She had family traced for where we live now all the way up the east coast. To family on my father's side to Boston when they came over and help build NYC, Baltimore, Rockingham into Alabama during the Civil War then to Arkansas in the 1880's. The film Dog Soldiers was set in the Scottish woods but filmed in Norway, as location scouts couldn't find any densely forest areas in Scotland without some kind of manmade structure present.

But over time the culture changed and that allowed politicians to push forth laws that rationalized and diminished the right to bear arms promised in their constitution so now it is almost impossible for a lawful citizen to own a gun in Mexico, and carrying it for self defense is right out, and now Mexico is ruled by Cartels and their last election had 47 candidates assassinated.
Just codifying it in the constitution is not enough to ensure the rights aren't lost. They have to also be taught and reinforced so that they become important values.

Much of the forest that was cut down in the US has actually grown back with all the people that left the North East and the further industrializing of the south! The east coast of the US is now more forested than it was during the start of the American Revolution which is just bonkers to me.
