This video is exactly what i needed. Thank you for this. I am glad I came across your video. I feel more confidence now in making others prom dresses. Very Detailed, instructions were clear and precise. I am glad you showed step by step.
If you want more movement in the dress use zigzag stitch because a straight stitch is too restrictive to movement.. great first video that dress is the bomb! It’s gorgeous ❤
Tip: when cutting the circle train, try to fold your fabric into 4 it will make it easier and you will avoid cutting the circle train twice. Overall great job! look forward to many more videos!
wow this dress is absolutely beautiful and this tutorial was great! I taught myself how to sew in high school but I'm excited to branch out and try to start making dresses for formal events or other occasions.
Gorgeous gown ! Great attention to detail ! Keep on shining !!!! Thank you, for taking us along and sharing your awesome talent! Continued Blessings.....
BABY????? YOU SLAYED THIS DRESS, I am getting back into my sewing, I cant wait to get into the garment fabric district in Downtown Los Angeles to purchasee me some beautiful sequence fabric for the holidays. SLAY BABY SLAY GREAT JOB, WELL DONE
My first thought upon seeing that applique was, "Sploosh!" :P It looks like a whale spouting or the splash of something very big hitting the water. Quite appropriate for a mermaid-themed dress
Very nice 1st video Queen! Your editing skillz are on point. The detailed explanation of all the steps was on point! I really love this dress and the color as well. You made this looks so easy. TFS
Omg 😆 I love glitter nit fabric I got one in peach color omg I do in love with it I want to make the dress as a mermaid dress. I will so be using glitter nit in the future
Great video, i. Thinking about making my daughter's prom dress, this video gave me so much confidence I know I can do it with the help of your video, how many yards of Fabric did you use for this dress?
i haven't watched the full video yet so you might have said it BUT how much did this cost you? and how long did it take? my prom is coming up and i need to figure something out bc these price chileeee...
Which bodice did you use for the pattern. I know you used Karen Guinn pattern but did you use the bodice with the circle whole in the front or the other bodice?
What size needle did you use to sew that sequined fabric?????? I’ve been sewing for years, and I break so many needles doing this. I’m also 64. Old dog need a new trick! Where did you source the appliqué? NOT wanting to do one of these, but it is always nice to have a name to throw out there. Very good job on the tutorial. I certainly enjoyed it, and you did an excellent job on the gown.
I backstitched because I couldnt use my serger because of the sequins. Just for security purposes. I placed it how I wanted and then put pins in it. Then I hand sewed it. I have a short tik tok of it.
You can cut it on fold so you don’t have to cut twice. I just cut it in half to install the zipper. You also do it so you don’t have a seam in the middle of the skirt and just in the sides. I hope that makes sense lol
@@admiremiracle1766 I bought a pattern which is for stretch fabric. I got it off its from Karen M. I have it linked in the description. The circle skirt pattern is a separate pattern though
This is a circle skirt train, I used about 6 yards on the train. For a mermaid style, you can use about 5 yards. I have a video on that as well. The dress is pink and silver.

Beautiful dress. What did you do to make the bottom stand so pretty
I added horsehair & once I put it on the dress form I just hand placed it to my liking
Thank you for responding. Beautiful
Beautiful ❤
Thank you! 💕
When you finish the seams like that wouldnt it irritate the skin?
It can, but she was fine. You can cut the sequins off or use bias tape, or top stitch
@@taylerdcreations oh ok
Outstanding job! Why didn’t you use the mesh that was on the bodice instead of the brown mesh?
Thank youuuu 🩵 The mesh was white, I prefer to use skin tone mesh
Yes for the zipper tutorial!
it’s coming soon lol
Definitely following

Is there a way to make the whole skirt with one piece ? Without making the small skirt and the circle skirt separately?
I have a mermaid gown prom dress where I added godets. Its pink and silver. The circle skirt bottom just has more fullness.
Awesome
Thank youuuu 🩵🩵
How do I measure this if I want to add one to an existing dress? Would just measure the bottom of the existing dress?
Yes, just measure the circumference of the previous dress
i haven't watched the full video yet so you might have said it BUT how much did this cost you? and how long did it take? my prom is coming up and i need to figure something out bc these price chileeee...

I spent about $300 on everything
I love the dress😍& What type of mesh do you use?
Thank you so much! Stretch nude mesh from etsy but that was a while ago
my girl really doing the damn thing
lmao thanks girllll ❤️❤️
How many yards did you get originally and where did you get the fabric?
I ordered 8, used 7.5. I got it from Aliexpress
Which bodice did you use for the pattern. I know you used Karen Guinn pattern but did you use the bodice with the circle whole in the front or the other bodice?
The other one but if you have you taped together you can still use the other one just don’t cut the keyhole out
Heyy can I ask how many yards you used for the blue fabric 😋
Hey! I used about 7 yards
I love your machine
thank youuu 💕💕
Is the material stretch? I didn’t see you add zipper allowance on the back
Yes it stretches and it was included in the pattern
What size needle did you use to sew that sequined fabric?????? I’ve been sewing for years, and I break so many needles doing this. I’m also 64. Old dog need a new trick! Where did you source the appliqué? NOT wanting to do one of these, but it is always nice to have a name to throw out there. Very good job on the tutorial. I certainly enjoyed it, and you did an excellent job on the gown.
Thanks for watchinggg 🩵 I use heavy duty needles, someone recommended I try I denim needle but haven’t tried that yet. Appliques can be found on etsy
How did you determine which template to use, did you measure around your clients knees ?? Or did yu just select one
It has instructions. I believe you do the clients waist measurement to determine which one.
Quick question how did you attach the aplique? Also why did you backstitch after very pin? Thanks in advance 😁
I backstitched because I couldnt use my serger because of the sequins. Just for security purposes. I placed it how I wanted and then put pins in it. Then I hand sewed it. I have a short tik tok of it.
How did you shorten the pattern. The mermaid gown is long, are you using a different pattern for the skirt part? I hope i make sense lol
I just didnt add the flare. I stopped before that, right where the flare starts
Hey love, I love this video very detailed. Where did you get the top and the skirt pattern from? I’d love to get one.
Hey, thank you so much for watching! I got it from etsy, karen guinn. I have it linked in the description.
what’s the brown paper your using? is it that roll of paper you’d put on the floor when painting ??
Yes, it’s easel paper.
Why did you fold the pattern in the beginning ? I’m curious because I’m making my own
You can cut it on fold so you don’t have to cut twice. I just cut it in half to install the zipper. You also do it so you don’t have a seam in the middle of the skirt and just in the sides. I hope that makes sense lol
@@taylerdcreations In the beginning where youu folded the cut out, does that make a difference ?
@@admiremiracle1766Sorry Im not sure what you mean. Dm a screenshot on instagram of what youre talking about
Nice tutorial. How did you attach the Applique.
I pinned it to my dress form and hand sewed it to the mesh
Thank you! I pinned it to the dress form and hand sewed it!
Hello, where do you get the paper from for the measurements ? 🥺 looks great 💕
Hey, thank youuu! The paper for the circle skirt?
@@taylerdcreations yes, honestly the whole cut out for the dress, I plan on making my own
@@admiremiracle1766 I bought a pattern which is for stretch fabric. I got it off its from Karen M. I have it linked in the description. The circle skirt pattern is a separate pattern though
@@taylerdcreations Ok great ! Thank youu 💕
Can dresses like these be taken in?
It can but parts of the applique would not to be removed if youre taking it in on the sides
where did you get the fabric
Aliexpress, search "velvet sequin"
Where did you get the rhinestone from
Etsy
Was it hard to sew through the sequins?
@@annateng6881 No it wasn’t, I used a heavy duty needle.
Great tutorial, did you downsize the measurements due to the fabric being stretchy?
You should do that! However my pattern was made specifically for stretch material so it was already done for me.
Thank you!! ❤️
@@taylerdcreations alright thank you x
Ouuuuu you did that 😍😍😍
Thank you so much!! 💓
Is this blue mermaid dress still available?
No, I sold it last year
How did you do the angle part in the bottom
Not sure what you mean. Can you rephrase?
could i ask how many yard of the sequins fabric did you use?
I ordered 8, I had about 1/2 yard left
How much fabric did you use to make this dress? Specifically, the mermaid train?
This is a circle skirt train, I used about 6 yards on the train. For a mermaid style, you can use about 5 yards. I have a video on that as well. The dress is pink and silver.
Is it possible to hamd sew everything?
Im sure you can. It will take a really long time. For stretch fabric you need a zig zag stitch. Straight stitches will pop.
but can you help me make my pattern this smooth ? thanks
Woooooow amazing!😊❤how many yards of fabric did you use ?
Thank youuuu, I used about 7.5
This helps me a lot ☺️
Glad I could help! Thanks for watching!! 💕
What type of sewing machine did you use
A brother sq9285 but it broke and I had two of them. Wouldn’t recommend.
Great video! Did you cut the measurements slightly smaller since it was a stretch fabric or did you cut true to size?
Thanks for watching! I cut it slightly smaller.
