The motor underneath lets off a slight smell and it's a little loud th-cam.com/users/postUgkxCKuMxLnvr6fJd_M4SE-n7trcGj3zEUHq but considering it's size and how hard it works to do the job, it's sort of expected. I assume the smell will go away over time. Overall, I love this cute little blender. The extra cups and lids are great too!

I have the grain bowl and love it! For truly fresh flours, it is only way to go and the flavor shows up in your baked goods. Right now (2022), there is a problem getting the whole grains but that should be fine again after all are recovered from the effects of the panemic and supply issues.
IMPORTANT: Keep your grains frozen because they heat during milling and keeping them frozen also keeps them fresh. Mill only what you need each time. The very first time you mill your own from fresh grain you will be delighted at the fresh flavor.

You might be able to but would not get the best results. You can use the dry container for general use as well but it is not going to do the best job. With the dry container, bowl the bowl and blades are designed to mill the flour. The bowl really is shaped differently. If that is all you will use it for, it might not be worth it as it would not do as good a job as the "regular" bowl for the job. However, if you want to do any milling, it is worth every penny!

    1. Is it really Grinding a small spoon of flax or cumin or pepper? I had read a review saying it just blows to top of jar and we need minimum a cup or two of ingredients.
2.Which container is much more efficient in making idly/dosa batter? wet or dry?

The dry container has been available since at least the 5000 and for all I know, the 4500 (no variable speed) as well. Back then, it was identical to the tall 64-oz. container (they show up on eBay). Once the 32-oz. container was introduced, the size of the dry container went to 32 ounces. The 48-oz. dry container came along with the introduction of the Ascent Series. Perhaps you''re thinking back to the days of the old Vita-Mixer 4000 and prior--one steel container with a spigot that was used for everything.
