White = Final Fantasy
Black = Megaman
Yeah…..even in difficulty levels lol blacks so hard
Black is like Shin Megami Tensei lol
I also love how each main instrument is symbolic of each iteration
The Erhu symbolizing the past and the Keytar symbolizing the future
Man I wish more games did stuff like that
This is not only one of my favorite themes in the entire Pokemon franchise, but one of my favorite pieces of music to ever come from a Nintendo DS game. In addition to this being one of my favorite compositions in the series and out of all games on the DS, Pokemon Black/White has the most crystal-clear, rich-sounding soundbase I've ever heard out of any MIDI set ever used for the DS hardware.
Personally, I have both versions and I feel that this tune better reflects what really is, or should be what Opelucid City is like. It just seems to fit Unova better.
I would say Black opelucid fits the sequels more
This song is so beautiful and relaxing. I find myself singing along whenever I'm in Opelucid and I'll stand next to the guy near the Center and just close my eyes and drift away
Having a direct sequel that takes place 2 years later is better than having a third version in my opinion
true but then again I'd still like to see a version with the original legendary that Reshiram and Zekrom formed with Kyurem
it's just so so cool to think about what kind of pokemon it would've been, and what it represented
gen 5 had this slightly more philosophical take on story that I just loved to bits
I miss when Pokemon used to have a wide range of traditional music like this.
So much more intriguing than constant techno/electric
So does half of Alola's OST just not exist? Kalos? Hisui?
Whenever I go here and hear the first few bars, I'm incapacitated and forced into a melancholy, contemplative mood in which I must sit and reflect for a bit. One of the few places where I opt to walk rather than ride the bike, haha. Way better than Black's- it fits the story at this point very well (as well as the music of the route after it).
Occasionally, Pokémon games have songs that just really grab you. In DPPt, it's outside the Pkmn League. In BW, it's this masterpiece right here.
I didn't realize the town themes were THAT radically different. I like Black's version, but White is much more worthy in my ears.
Whenever I get to Opelucid City, I always stop and listen to this theme. This is what inspired me to get White 2. So damn good
This song speaks to bitter truths, while the other version is fantastical ideals
Each pokemon ost i listen to is like a slice of nostalgia that makes me want to bawl up and cry.
Peak of Pokémon games
I like the version in black, but oh god is this better. Opelucid city just is better in white in my oppinion.
this might be my favorite town theme in the entire series
Oh, Opelucid, as in a lucid dream, (a dream where you control what you are doing)
I feel like this theme really represents the games better. The theme is a bit gloomy which fits in with what occurs with Team plasma just as you enter the city. After they leave the citizens reflect on themselves and the situation is just made much more dire as by this point in most games, the villain team is dealt with but not here, with them getting closer to their goal.
That's probably the Yin in the Yang, like the Dragon's color in the opposite version.
why did i miss all of this and now knowing this for more than 11 years
Wait...if the white forest is black city's past counterpart (they are in the same location and pkmn white is set in the near past) doesn't that mean that the white forest was destroyed due to the urbanization of the area? Same with many of the cities including white's Opelucid. Kinda makes me sad. In a way, this resembles our real life modern day as technology ever advances changing how things are viewed and seen around us. The music also, is changed to a more future electronic taste in Black compared to the use of an Ehru and a piano in White.
I love Unova's use of symbolism.
Dang, nice job on catching that. I didn't notice that until you mentioned that Pokemon Black is set further in the future.
Magix they do? I thought they were alternative timelines
Based and Ted-pilled
They are both set in the same time, whats different is the emphasis of truth and ideals, one being emblematic of the truths passed down through generations, thus the old rustic city and forests, and the other being emblematic of idealism, breaking from the past and looking to the future, ever pushing onward, hence high tech opalucid and black city.
The two games are simply set in a unova that had different values at the forefront of its development
Just heard this for the first time in White 2 after only playing black/black 2 and man I was missing out on this amazing track
That would have been cool. But I think the way it is fits b/c (from what I've heard) Black is supposed to be futuristic, and White is supposed to be in the past.
I love this song so much. Glad I bought White on the release date.
ive been looking for this song all over. Thank you. This song is beautiful
This is probably my fave theme from Pokemon White. ;D
Thanks a bunch for uploading the White version of this song :'D
This reminds me a lot of the Sootopolis City theme, for some reason.
Sootopelucid
I love this one so much more than the keytar version.
This one is very calm = u =
Well other towns in the same game also have a sound close to it, but what I mean is the genre-kind of music, like, slow and something you would expect of pokemon... But I wouldn't have expected techno in the black opelucid!
Opelucid FTW🎉
Man black and white really is the one that got me my love for orchestral music huh. Before White (my first Pokemon game) I thought Pokemon was baby shit, then you saw my dumbass buying cards and plushies. Really ate my mf words back there
I used to love Pokémon as a kid, then I seemingly outgrew it during my teenage years and thought it was too kiddy, and now I'm back here, playing all the games. Weird how time changes you man..
This theme is so pretty...I have Black, so I never got to hear it...
i think this fits with the route 10 them more than the black version does
I prefer Opelucid City in Pokemon White and White 2. The tune is more beautiful more than Pokemon Black And Black 2’s Opelucid City
Reshiram IS the feminine one, and Iris is Leader in White, where N has Reshiram.
this is like the best music ever
Pokemon White has so many songs that calm me. l3
Ooooh. Thanks for.clearing that up.
@Nazuiko Actually a GameFreak employee did say that they wont make a Gray version, but Junichi Masuda quickly fixed it and said that there isnt any reason why they wouldn't make a Gray version, however the game hasnt been announced. Although I want Ruby/Sapphire remakes a bit more than Gray.
Good news for you so
yes and in black version he is an adult.
fuck i want to play this again
In this opelucid city Thyme is a kid.
It is not only the same beat, it is also the same melody but tweaked.
random fact: Zekrom is the 5th gen pokemon with the highest attack stat.
great video too
You know what's ironic, in Black, the older Draden is the Opelucid gym leader while in White, the younger Iris is the Opelucid gym leader
Hardly sounds like an erhu in this track, but it's fairly similar, so it works
This music makes me happy I bought White version. =)
@SandstoneII Yes, it plays when you get near the guy with the erhu...
You mean woman
@GameMasterGuy I have a feeling it will be awesome! :D
You know what I would like? A Unova game where the main pokemon is the Swords of Justice. During the events of the game you would encounter the Members of The Swords of Justice, on Skyarrow Bridge you will fight next to Keldeo and Cobalion and before the final battle they will all appear and you can choose which one you want to catch.
this is really nice, i got the black version so i only heard the upbeat version! xD But i like this version too! :)
Much better than the black version.
I agree with that
There may not be one, Red and Blue/ Fire Red and Leaf Green did not have a combined version.
Now that we have the gen 4 remakes, the gen 5 remakes are gonna happen next. Wonder if they'll remake Black/White, Black 2/White 2, both or a game that amalgamates the different parts.
It would be cool if they remake both games and call it generation 10, and the same with generation 14 and Sun/Moon.
Indeed! I was quite surprised to hear it was going to be 2 direct sequels. I like the White Opelucid City theme better, though I have Black 2...the music is a little obnoxious, like it's trying too hard to sound electronic.
For me, this is tied with Undella Town (Fall, Winter, Spring). Accumula Town is in 2nd.
Well, I think you'll be okay with White if you haven't played it already.
this is fucking professor layton
Yeah but theres No Z chromasome.. Well there is one but its found in birds... But since we have Yveltal who is Y which is a human chromasome that wouldnt make another sense... And Besides Xeneas is based on X horizontal thats why its a deer andYveltal is Y because its Vertical a avian animal. And besides The plot might have genetics as a backup meaning but the names are on XYZ hence it being the first 3D game and the region is inspired by france were XYZ orginated from.
@GameMasterGuy third comment, but, whatever. Chances are, it will be one version, and Reshiram can send you to the past version, and Zekrom to the future version.
I like this ones better then the one I get in mine
@XularusXIII You're welcome! :)
But X and Y are based off of genetics with chromosomes and dna and the such. If you look at the japanese logo and the symbol over a pokemon that has just mega evolved you can see a dna symbol which hints at genetics playing a major role
@aidenforever99 Can you tell me how to do this whole "download" thing?
@PokesaurTV Sure.
I assume that N's departure to somewhere in Black/White will be expanded upon, and thats where Gray comes in.
I wonder what the Gray version will sound like...
1:21 this is the snippet they used in the Polar Biome
@aidenforever99 Thank you very much, I just figured all this out. Thanks :D
Blue was the updated version of the original Red and Green, and Yellow further updated that.
@GameMasterGuy Probably a mix of the pokemon black version and the pokemon white version
Really? In my opinion, this is the best town theme from any Pokémon game, and I can't find anything remotedly close. Black's version sounds like a badly done techno remix of this imo...
Gray version might not exist...
@TheBlader02 Well, what we all though it was going to be Gray...
@7GamerMinutes Black 2 and white 2 * :3
Human modernization seems a selfish yearning for global facilitation... at the expense of all other life.
Is a compromise not possible? Mmm... it is a game like this, and music like this, that leads to such thought and comparison. Truth, that which is and has been, or ideals, in want for change...?
In the past, modernization is characterized by ideals, thus symbolized by Zekrom. Now that artificiality reigns supreme, a new truth has been founded, and different ideals would serve to change it.
Its so High Quality its not loading on my laptop.
I sincerely thank you for uploading this though, And ask If I could get an link to the mp3? Or if you could email it to me?
It would be, VERY much apreciated.
Thanks from the middle of my heart. XD
I can send you the mp3 file if you still need it
@@Samir_2💀
@@bunto7552 bruh I don’t even remember this comment or if I ever even sent anything
@Nazuiko Game Freak themselves said they won't make a third game to Black and White. They might change their minds, but right now I'm not the "delusional" one.
I hate to admit it, and I prefer the Black version so far, but this theme is better than the one included in the Opelucid City from the Black Version...
I wonder what happens when both themes are put together? But anyway my primary game is black.
@NeoZipZab Hey, the other version has its merits too, ya know. I happen to like both of them. ^_^
yeah, since there never was a true sequel to a pokemon game yet. I wonder what will happen with X and Y.
Will there be Z ? or X2 Y2 ?
They could always go back and make a Gray, but then, would they make a Grey 2 to go with it and Black 2/White 2?
Perhaps, perhaps not. But I don't mind too much either way.
@PokesaurTV itl like switch back future past every 30 secs!!
@deezutra who's Thyme? Is he the son of the guy who wanted the Pokemon who knew Charge?
For some reason, the beginning melody makes Opelucid City seem Italian to me.(White Version)
+7gamerminutes Have you made the white version of this where you can't hear the guy playing his instrument(meaning he's not immediately visible onscreen during gameplay while the player is in Opelucid City)? Just wondering...

#PkmnBW #Unova #Iris
Xy was the beginning of the end of pokemon for me. They started using 3d for everything. And it doesn't feel the same anymore. Z moves are stupid. Fuck mega evolution. Can't I just have my cool emboar that I named Loin?
@WhiteBomberMage you don't say!
I KNOW what a keytar is. And I thought erhus were Japanese.
@GameMasterGuy Probably both of them combined~.
...this is better!...than pokemon black opelucid city...
That sounds nothing like an erhu.
I suppose the beginning part of the theme utilizes the erhu, but I get what you mean. It sounds rather unnatural for it to be the erhu. i suppose it's possible though.
Do you even know what a erhu sounds like
@ShuckleShellAnemia Except they didnt. Where did you hear that they did? Because, the only time thats ever been "said", it was a false rumor created by a radio program in Spain. It was a debunked rumor with no truth whatsoever to it.
But the 3rd version could be the sequel.
no it wasn't, it's cool in it's own way.
I could see that being true. I mean women are supposed to be Yin and men are supposed to be Yang. Though that's another bit of irony unless you connect them to the dragons.
I love this version!
Personally don't like the black one.
omg how come i get this cruddy music while Black has badass music?!!??!
