Here is our full recap and review of the new Canon comic “Star Wars: Age of Resistance - Supreme Leader Snoke” issue, which looked at the training between Snoke and his apprentice Kylo Ren prior to the events of Episode 7: The Force Awakens. Our review focuses on how the issue succeeded (or didn’t succeed) in revealing new, interesting aspects of Snoke’s character.

Hey everyone! Because I broke down and touched on a lot of the details in last week’s Snoke comic issue in a separate lore video (which you can find here: th-cam.com/video/OhawGYKe0mE/w-d-xo.html), I kept the issue recap a bit shorter on this one, touching on the major plot points and focusing more on the review. But I thought I would provide timestamps for the two elements above in case you would like to go straight to the review portion of the video.

Snoke is so mysterious, even the writers don’t know any of his backstory. 😒
John Gibbons I’m beginning to think that. It’s as if they said, “We need an Emperor-type figure for the Force Awakens. Let’s create this character and worry about his backstory later.”
On the other hand, maybe they have a basic outline and they will let a novelist flesh it out after The Rise of Skywalker. It was a great issue in and of itself though. It’s just disappointing that nothing new was revealed about him. I like the character and I want a fat, 500 page novel about him someday by an author like James Luceno. I have no idea, of course, if Luceno would have interest in writing it but he would be my author pick if I was in charge of commissioning authors to write novels.

Snoke was a flawed clone of Anakin Skywalker, and Palpatine never even bothered to tell him.
We learned that he was scared shitless of Luke Skywalker!
But also respected him!
So we learn snoke was tsundere for Luke ....
Well Luke Skywalker is a Top Tiered Jedi Master that was personally trained by Yoda, Top Tiered Jedi Master and Obi Wan, Upper Mid Tiered Jedi Master. So Snoke is not a Fool.

We learnt even less about him than we know about the High Ground's full power
To be honest there's still a ton of stuff we need to know about the character, this comic is OK but is really a drop in the ocean compared to what they could do with snokes history, a series of novels ( preferably written by James luceno ) would give us such an incredible insight to snoke, or perhaps we will learn more in ep9, either way more media focused on snoke in the future would be very welcome, anyway really excited about the knights of ren comics
I feel the same way. I also would like James Luceno to write a novel about Snoke. I envision something like his Darth Plagueis novel though I know that book will be hard to top. I’m looking forward to the Rise of Kylo Ren comics too. I hope the Lucasfilm publishing staff knows there is fan interest in Snoke’s story.

Good video, thank you. I think the Snoke mystery will be slowly revealed over time, but that's fine if we eventually get our answers. Please though, let it be an answer worthy of all the anticipation, speculation and conjecture.

Kylo looks so chiseled in this comic he reminds me of handsome Squidward.
What we learned about Snoke from this? His college Fraternity was small because it’s hazing rituals were quite extreme.

We already know so much more about Snoke than most fans lead on. We know that he was some guy who lived in the unknown regions studying the dark side, found the First Order and helped them explore it. Murdered people to climb the ranks to leader of the FO. Boom. Snoke's backstory. I think he's a cool character and I'm down to learn more about him, but we are not lacking backstory on the guy.

Although we did not quite get a backstory on Snoke like I wanted we still got a good in depth look in Snokes thoughts on Luke and Kylos training .
I was hoping for more insight into Snoke, but this was a Kylo comic. Still a neat lil story.
To me, in TLJ snoke looks like Bing Crosby in Holiday Inn 😉
I love all your videos but this for some reason is the most interesting new trilogy content I've digested!
The issue was kind of disappointing because we barley learnt anything new about Snoke and that the issue itself just felt more like a setup for the upcoming Kylo Ren issue or the Kylo Ren and Knights of Ren series.
I was deflated about the story. It would have been great to know more about snooke but i see what you bring up about kylo that i did not see before.
While I thought it was a good issue, it was also more about Kylo than about Snoke. Snoke's teachings really reminded me of what we have already seen of the Sith, and I would have liked a more unique approach in this issue. Again, it was a good issue, but not really ias mpressive as it could have been

While I don't know about Snoke but he really should of know by now Sith have a bad habit of backstabbing each other even with the Rule of Two. By hindsight he shouldn't be gloating when Kylo took advantage of it.

I am more and more convinced that Snoke is best understood as a con-man. Yes, he is powerful in the force and charismatic, but his agenda does not go beyond his own immediate concerns. He presents himself as mighty, powerful, mysterious, and possess strange arcane knowledge, but honestly he is none of those things and eventually Kylo sees right through his facade and usurps him because he is the emperor with no clothes.
Soo... it appears that in the comic they actually bothered to make Snoke somewhat cool...

Do you think Snoke was training Kylo on Dromund Kaas? I know it says something like the “Rarlech System” but the planet’s colors & lightning certainly suggests so.
Dromund Kaas doesn't even exist in Disney canon
I don’t put it past them to pull the planet into canon. Think about the whole Korriban/Morriband ordeal

Let’s pray that the rise of Skywalker will reveal that Snoke wasn’t some pointless character... although seeing how the last Jedi was a complete dumpster fire who knows how it will turn out

I agree thats pretty much my take on the comic as well...i also wanted to know why snoke was blinded by the thoughts and actions of kylo but was hesitant to ask. I think kylo is playing both sides maybe ?

Maybe the point is Snoke just isn't that important but more of a steppingstone for Kylo Ren?
Now this is a 1 shot right? Not a 1st in a limited series? Cuz i wasn't too disappointed in it when i thought it was a 5 issue series... but since it's a 1 shot, its a big ,major letdown

I think i THOUGHT i heard it on some other star wars channel, and then immediately thought that since it was a "villain" series, who have gotten some multi issue comics, and since Maul got a 5 shot, i just put it all together and really assumed Snoke got 5. I mean, he SHOULD get his own limited series, and i cant imagine why star wars WOULDN'T put out a multi issue storyline for him, such wasted opportunity.... but i guess that is the tagline for disney star wars as a whole, right? WASTED OPPORTUNITY lol...
Like i said, makes sense to explore a character as awesome as Serkis' SNOKE for more than 20 pages, so yeah...wishful thinking hahaha!

Episode 9: Possessions & Clones
What we learned that we didn't already know from the movie is that Snoke was foolish and weaker than we thought.
We saw that a young and less trained Kylo Ren was able to manipulate Snoke's mind into seeing what he wanted just like in the Last Jedi.
It suggests that Kylo was able to hide key things from all powerful Snoke and that he could have probably killed him since that training session. It makes Kylo look good but Snoke loses points.

I would have liked more about Snoke but it was a good story.
What I truly don't like is how snoke is saying basically "yeah Luke is strong, stronger than kylo Ren." yet he dispise the light side.
Thing is, you can in fact hate someone's views and alignment while still respecting their strength or talent, even if it's in something you strongly dislike. The Light and Dark sides are both still The Force after all.
Example, Palpatine hated the Jedi as a whole (albeit good at hiding it) but respected Yoda and Mace Windu for the former's raw power and the latter's use of Form VII (albeit the Vaapad variant Mace created) and both Palps and Vader respected Luke for his raw potential despite him being openly a rebel to the point where they wanted him brought to them alive rather than executed on sight like other rebels or Light Side users.
He probably just setting up Kylo
@@lordnul1708 yes you're right, I should've worded differently my point. It's not what he is doing it's the why that annoy me. As you said before palps and vader were doing the same thing but they were sith, anciens ennemy of the jedi. Heck even their phylosophi is directly against the jedi but snoke isn't a sith so why would he hate them and the light side in general. he could have both light and dark. In the end I'm just annoyed to see a Palps V2 who hate the light side for no reason, it's just a limit for his character I would've loved to see a Valkorion type of view on the force.
98% of TLJ was hot garbage but I loved the fact Kylo cut Snoke in half, it was the one subverted expectation I really enjoyed.

I’m just not impressed with the newer series. I’m looking for actual sith with yellow eyes and attitudes that don’t portray whiny kids rather that portray real darkness.
Even Snoke is a joke. Where’s the actual sith? Where is the actual monsters that oozed darkness vibes.
Kylo in black doesn’t make him scary. Snoke the joke on a throne. Like Revenge of the sith has a more accurate portrayal of an actual sith when Anikin joins the dark side and kills all the separatist leaders
i think some sith were more tortured than monsters, kylo ren was only a pathetic monster who doesn't make sense i don't see why he killed so savagely his father for no reason other than obey to Snoke and later kill Snoke like the sacrifice of his father was nothing
