  • A short Vlog detailing how to reach and explore the legendary Culver Hole, situated on the coast of Port Eynon on the Gower Peninsula.
Hidden in a rocky cleft near Port Eynon, ancient Culver Hole cave is sealed behind a 60ft stone wall dotted with mismatched windows. Believed to have been built in the 13th century to house pigeons the Indiana Jones-esq structure holds a bounty of smuggling stories.
According to local legend, it was used by powerful local brigand John Lucas as a storehouse with tales of a secret tunnel - big enough to ride a horse through.
Parking is available at Port Eynon Beach (£4 for 3 hours or £6 for all-day) and the walk to Culver Hole via the Salt House takes around 30 minutes.
Culver Hole is only accessible at mid-low tide so check the tide times before you depart and aim to go at low tide.

Hey Chris, I found your videos so enjoyable and informative for new hikers like me who are shy and scared to find a camping spot. You just nailed it mate please don't stop making vlogs like this. I have seen tons of videos but not as informative as yours even though they are enjoyable too. Thank you so much and please carry on.
    Regards,

Good clear directions thanks. I was above Culver Hole last summer but the tide was high.

Thanks Ken. Yeah, you have to visit around low Tide as even at mid-tide the entrance begins to get cut off.

Great Vid Chris - I was down Port Eynon last Friday and was considering popping over to Culver Hole from Overton Beach which I did a few years back now, so I now know the easier apprach! :-)

Diolch Rob. The first time I visited was via Overton Beach so thought it would be useful to share the easier way of reaching this spot.

Great video bro. Just need to sort your levels out. Vocal volume up and music way down, hard on the ears when you're whispering then the music comes on full blast! But nice one anyways :) Gonna check out your other stuff!

cut that awful music to a few seconds here and there and not as a theme and just have the sound of the locality right in the back-ground throughout.. and get a good wind guard for vocals with maybe a zoom h5 or whatever
synced to the phone clock and on a tri-pod just to pick up the ambient sound
I'd have thought you'd have shown the tourist plaque as a lead into the main chat on the salt house and history
