Bach is great. Bach is greater thorugh Nethelands Bach Society. Thank you all musicians that took part on this miraculous endeavour in bringing Bach's work's life to uttermost perfection!
Ouverture = morning mood. A marvelous piece to start your day with. Starting with a wake up phase: the slow beginning let's you wake up slowly and offers you to think about your new day's goals, objectives and targets, then the fugue provides all energy you need.
When listening to Bach I'm in awe of Bach's mind. Like Einstein his mind was working on a different plane. We can appreciate the output of JSB's mind through the pallet of notes, melodies, harmonies, counterpoint and the pure joy, a rapture that occurs when listening. When composing, Bach's mind, heart and hands were guided by the angels. Should the reader of my comment have a few moments to listen to the joy one feels when listening to his Motet's. One in particular, Komm, Jesu, Komm BWV229, is just sublime. There's no question that JSB was communicating with his god through his composition.
Bach is so natural; it's like the flow of your blood, or your breath. Another great recording of all the Bach Orchestral Suites is done by Trevor Pinnock.
myself i reckon they are a bit bland and wooden, though technically near flawless. The hall it's recorded in, and/or the mic placement, isn't that great either and doesn't really do the performance justice.
I have heard and seen many versions of this piece, but none surpass this performance so beautifully done. You can see the enthusiasm of the players in this video and you can definitely hear it as they play this piece. It is very obvious how much they are thoroughly enjoying themselves as you watch this presentation.

My favorite movements from Bach’s orchestral suites: Suite 1: Passepied Suite 2: Ouverture, Polonaise and Badinerie Suite 3: the whole suite Suite 4: Ouverture and Réjouissance. I expect them all
No other of Bach's work gave margin to such variety of interpretations that the general public (that is, non musicians) can easily grasp and distinguish as the Orchestral Suites did. Since my childhood, they have fascinated me not only for that reason but also for what they are per se.
I'm so glad that the Netherlands Bach Society has recorded the orchestral suites. They are one of my favorite pieces by Bach, and before these recordings there weren't really good versions in TH-cam.

Unser Vater JS Bach for ever. Excellent performance of this ensemble. Nederland is great admirer of JS Bach as every every dilettanti in the world. I listened all Bach suites some years ago at the "Palau de la música" in Barcelona performing by "Europa Galante" with Fabio Biondi.

What's more impressive, Bach or his music? If somehow, in the distant future, Bach's name became disassociated from his compositions people would be just as dumbfounded by it's brilliance as were the early Romantic composers who "rediscovered" it? If that future person was musical by nature would it, at times, bring them to tears and send chills through the body? Bach is a force of nature and a priceless gift to humanity. I remain in awe.

There is not a single one of their interpretation of Bach's works that does not impress me. The Netherland Bach Society seems to have understood Bach's musical intentions. Beautiful!

Early 1700s this music was probably getting out of fashion being quickly replaced by the Italian Concerto model. It is beyond sad that much of the music Bach wrote for the courts is lost forever :( The Brandenburg concertos survived by miracle and the Goldenberg variations were not specifically written for the court. If Bach had to compose a piece for every weekend performance, then we are talking about significant losses :(

We really should be proud of the cultural prowess of our european ancestors. And defend it against any selfserving rigidity of other cultures who brought nothing about than violence, poverty and uneducatedness.
I do not quite know how to explain the difference in quality and brilliance of The Netherlands when they play Bach. The Boys choirs for instance. even th GERMAN orchestra does not seem to find the quite right of sound that piques the bach sound and mastery. Lovely, resonant, magestic often sublime. Thankyou so much. R
J'avais un peu de crainte vis-à-vis du caractère bouillant et emporté de M. Sato, mais sur cet enregistrement il se révèle un bon directeur. On s'approche beaucoup du style français et de Lully (à supposer que Lully ait été capable de composer de telles merveilles...Mais bon...), et les mouvements de danses sont très perceptibles et bien marqués. C'est "de la belle ouvrage". Le caractère un peu pesant et germanique habituel est gommé pour laisser place à une suite de mouvements légers et gracieux. La finesse du Kantor y est plus représentée que son génie, malheureusement, dans cette version réalisée "au crochet" digne d'une dentellière flamande.

This great performance almost beats the all time reference recording of The English Concert and Trevor Pinnock. Okay, not really, but the ouverture is truely amazing.
My favourite Bach Orch Suite. Lovely version here by NBS. But I do like the much earlier Pinnock version recorded in Japan. I will try to link it here soon.

I mean, NBS spends hours practicing, in Amsterdam rent and space are...and, therefore, their motivation is GOLD! Breaking into their environment and advertising Pinnock sounds ODD to me. That’s my opinion and it might not be your intention. Anyway, don’t show for dinner at my house, to praise and let me how how Super my neighbor’s home looks like! It is a “sense” of appreciation for what is brought to you, for your delight! Certain limits have to be conveyed. This great performance almost beats the all time reference recording of The English Concert and Trevor Pinnock. Okay, not really, but the ouverture is truely amazing.

Should be a question of first impact and you add that new version to your mental database. I mean, NBS spends hours practicing, in Amsterdam rent and space are...and, therefore, their motivation is GOLD! Breaking into their environment and advertising Pinnock sounds ODD to me. That’s my opinion and it might not be your intention. Anyway, don’t show for dinner at my house, to praise and let me how how Super my neighbor’s home looks like! It is a “sense” of appreciation for what is brought to you, for your delight! Certain limits have to be conveyed. I would be pleased if we agreed at least in part with my perception about this matter, Phil. Good luck!
