High Cycle Fatigue Tests on Concrete-Reinforcing Steel bars

  • This video demonstrates the process of performing a high cycle fatigue test on rebars on a 500kN ZwickRoell Vibrophore.
    Due to the fact that rebars have the similar diameter in the whole specimen length the clamping is very critical as the risk of clamping breaks in the jaws is very high. In the first step the specimen is embedded on the ends. This is done to to get a equal force distribution at the clamping zones. After that the embedded ends are pre-anchored with clamping wedges and sleeves. The assembled specimen is then mounted into the testing machine and the test is performed.
    The resonance system requires less than 5% of a comparable servo-hydraulic testing machine and due to the high test frequencies a high specimen throughput can be achieved.
    After the test the operator can export an a test report as a pdf file or export the raw data as an ASCII file.
