I'll never forget the first time I actually played craps. I got out of work and hit the table with $140 after playing for 13 hours I colored up and left with $2700.

Drop your hi-lo bets, hard ways, and your field bets and you might have a solid strategy....imo. The casino staff are taught to encourage all those bad bets where the house has a better odds-payout advantage. Your free odds bets on the line and come bet points are where the best odds are.

You mention there’s too much edge on placing numbers but consistently bet a hi-lo (11% edge) and even worse the bonus all bet (150-1 for the all is terrible, it’s 175-1 everywhere but Vegas- you’re bucking a 20% edge.)
He’s taking a flyer, having some fun on a bet that’s 1/10th, 1/20th of his normal unit of $10 + $100 on the pass/come + odds. Entertainment might worth the $1.11 in EV.
Yes, he is aware those side bets have bad odds. He’s also placing way smaller bets on those than the main bets.
Jim, 3 Casinos in My Area have changed theirs to 150-1 from the 175-1 that it was prior. It’s currently 3 for 3 as we have 3 Casinos that have it at 150-1, and we have 3 Casinos that have it at 175-1. I agree with you on the BS of Changing it as I always bet it for a Minimum of $25-100 On the All. Part of it is Hoping that it will Hit All of The Numbers and the Others is for the Ability to Lay a Number if we get a 1-2 Numbers from it Hitting.
I also agree on Place Bets vs Come Bets. There are only a Few Occasions where Come Bets are the Way to Go, Most of The Time, Place Bets Out Beat Come Bets.

A $10 come and $100 odds gets you $140 for a $110 investment on the 6 and 8. A $108 place bet gets you $126. A little less but look at how many times you hit it without any money on it because you had a come bet waiting to go on it. You have to hit the number twice before you collect. Could have made a lot more but still a great session. Congrats!
Using one session's rolling results to "prove" a better betting strategy is being really results oriented. Trust the math! Pass line/come bets with 10X odds behind is only a 0.18% house edge, while the 6/8 place bet is 1.59%. Don't forget, the pass/come bet has a 2:1 edge on the come out roll to win out right and place bets give up the player advantage side of the bet. While place bets in this specific session would have been more profitable, they feel a lot worse when the dice are cold and 7s are rolling every 2-3 rolls. A come bet strategy would be more insulated from a choppy session than a place bet strategy dropping $216 every time a point is set.
@@garrison7888 I don't see how this is relevant. If we're comparing Victor's come betting strategy to a place betting strategy, we'd have to compare similar bet sizes. How many players have the bankroll or nerve to drop $100, $100, $108, $108, $100, $100 = $616 on all the place bets for every new roller?
Pass/come bets with only 2X odds already lowers the house edge to 0.61%, which is better than any place bet.
I make place bets often myself because I think it's fun to be more "involved" in the table, rather than just waiting for a point or seven out, but I also know it's mathematically worse than just putting more money on the odds (the casinos near me offer 20X). I play craps for entertainment, not for maximum EV, but the math is the math.

It looks like the dealer may have shorted you $50 at the 19:28 mark when you hit 12 on the field. Should have been a $150 payout and it looks like you were only paid out $100 for hitting the 12.

I quit betting come bets a long time ago. A place bet Pays on every hit unlike the come which makes
nothing on the 1st hit and the come bet, of course loses when a craps is rolled, the odds bet payoff does not make up for this disadvantage in my opinion. I've seen shooters make money on the field But I have never done good on it so I avoid it like the plague.
& I've never seen a table with hi-lo bet, Only heard of them.

I bet just like this, the come bet is my best friend. Don’t play the field as much but run a lot of high low bets (mostly at a loss).
Work those come bet odds! It's a no house edge bet so the casino wants you to turn them off.
You would win way more if you just did place bets on the numbers and keep pressing it. Give the Come bets a break.
