This is a really good video. Very well filmed indeed - I love the incidental shots, such as the droplet of water falling or the shot of the plants on the platform. It really makes this video stand out.
So many Happy memories of Lostwithiel, my grandparents lived there and as a boy I would holiday there. As a trainspotter in the late 50s early 60s this was a great place. The Fowey branch with its 1400 loco and two carriage train, China clay traffic, a lot of shunting and even a cab ride on a 1600 pannier to Par and back. Then of course it's mainline which saw the expresses thunder through hauled by various locos from distant sheds and of course the stopping trains which had a variety of locos hauling them especially in the summer months. Happy days never to be repeated. Thanks for the memories of this once bustling station. Loved the vid.
Pleased to hear of your happy memories, with which I can fully identify. However, the weather on this day was pretty grim, the felled semaphores and a locked box I found was very depressing to put it mildly. No doubt the video was intended to portray just that!
The original station prior to demolition was featured in 1972's Play for Today 'Stocker's Copper' starring 'Blake 7's' Gareth Thomas portraying industrial strife amongst tin miners in early 20th century Cornwall Anyway it's available to view to right here on TH-cam for those interested
Hey there! I recently contacted network rail and they have no plans to remove St Erth's frame, signals and signal box until at least 2029. It's good to know they will live on for at least another 5 years.
Despite the devastation caused by the knfamous Dr Beeching, his plan was never completed. This is one of those leftovers now done. Sad. Great filming though. 👍👍👍

4 car HST must accelerate fast?
They do
Why are they being retired?
Age
How can you catch these trsins
Real-time trains
How long have the HST sets got left exactly?
I think they’re on borrowed time.
I’ve seen there are plans to withdraw them later this year.
