A sort of masterpiece...it punches me, at every listening, since 1977, when i was about 20 years old... The lyrics, also, apply to my tragic history (" the tragic hero !")... One of the most beautiful/ ecstatic song ENDINGs of all time ! Steven bishop, youre my DADDY! 🔥🥰🔥🥰🔥🥰🔥🥰... ..
My dearest Friend Steve ( lost his battle with Cancer age 41 ) loved this and introduced me to the great man’s music and even after 20 years I struggle to keep it together when I hear this beautiful song …..Rest easy Stevie …gone far too early …love you mate
Actually dear friend, if he was in Christ, even if at the very last minute before he drew his last breath.......he WON the war with cancer and everything else trust me😊😊😊
Sun on my shoulders and my toes in the sand. I don’t care I just dream and stay tanned. On and on. I don’t understand why anyone thinks this is a sad song. It’s the happiest, most positive song I know. You can’t control what others do. Only how you react. “Toss up my heart see where it lands.”
Back in 2016 when I heard that song, it was a call to the Sawtooths in Stanley Idaho. This is a recent memory to return to country that extended to other areas in Oregon and Northern California 2017 and 2018. Hearing it again is good.
Those were years when Jimmy Buffett tunes were bouncing around, and CSN were sailing somewhere. Eagles and Jackson Brown. And THIS song had some of the catchiest, and most relatable lyrics. On and on...
@@ambrid5837 Yeah, it's weird to read these comments about his voice because he clearly struggles to hit the old notes, but that happens to 90% of singers.
@@ambrid5837 He hit the notes in the studio; he just barely hits them now. He's earned the right to lower the key a bit. Here's hoping he's done so now. He struggled mightily to get them out and missed some trying.
Those notes are getting awfully high but I'll be damned, he still hit them even though he had to reach for them. He doesn't usually do that but at least we know that he can. LOL I love Stephen's heart and sense of who he is.
Generally I prefer studio versions to live ones, but with this performance the years intervening seem to add a level of insight and poignancy and make it way more beautiful. Plus, way to preserve your falsetto dude!
Totally agree….he basically destroyed the song ….he’s not the only performer that does this maybe it’s vanity that makes them think they’re still able to do it
We are getting older aren't we? Seems like a few weeks ago this was the hit single playing on the radio... enjoy... life passes quickly...

Most beautiful/sad song ever. Biographical (for me).
Love Stephen Bishop's song. My song during my teenage angst days.
Love this. Absolutely timeless
One of the best songs ever written ! I love it & hear😊 it every single day of my life

Great song Stephen....when romance was alive and well....
Amazing song
Just beautiful!
Just wonderful!
Love this song, and the opportunity to watch this, but his voice is shot.
Love this song

The dude looks good! Rock on buddy boy!
Such a beautiful song.
Top tier song.
Just read your Bio.
Never realized what a prolific writer you were! Fantastic!
Love this song, Stephen.
Pure genius.
Timeless Brilliance!
Una joya de músico me encanta y sus temas son clásicos. Muchas muchas gracias por compartir.😊❤
Really epic song pretty epic guy
I discovered this song in the movie beach boum with moon dog, i felt i' luv😊
Bella canción y buena interpretación en vivo 🤩
Sounds pretty good, especially for someone his age.
I agree. He sounds pretty well, pretty good. However, how old are you? 1 year old? Stephen is only 68 at that time (2019). He is not 99 or 119.
@@urru66 Better singers than him have lost their voices by that point.
His voice was definitely doctored up in the studio when he recorded this.. he is certainly struggling to hit the notes.. and 68 is old..

He was great in Tootsie
Why not sing it in another key, the original key is so high, he was a young man.

Not James Taylor but not bad
My favourite song….BUT….as you get older your range lowers ….no need to sing it in original key…it’s painful to my ears….
The sound system sucked. How embarrassing to have to sing through that crap setup and mix.
