NATO has been cautious about allowing Ukraine in, but the EU has said it wants Ukraine in by 2030. The EU wants to get its hands on Ukrainian gas, oil and grain, but it won't be able to do that if Ukraine is defeated. Ukrainian grain is also very important in the world food markets. Defeat by Russia will put that market at risk. It is absolutely vital, therefore, that the West continues to prop up Ukraine.
You probably are not aware that Lisbon Treaty Article 42 (the Treaty of the European Union) requires member states to go to the military aid of a member state under attack. That means that, if Ukraine is still under attack when it joins the EU, the EU will be at war with Russia.

Interesting that he decides to speak out when Ukraine is virtually finished. Ukraine must negotiate surrender now, or continue to lose 50% of its land, plus access to the Black Sea. He had several years too speak out, especially when Boris Johnson tore up the March/April 2022 Security Agreement between Russia and Ukraine which would have ended the war within one month of Russia having entered Ukraine. Where was he then... that was the time to speak out to stop this war.... But he has chosen to speak, when Ukraine has no more people to fight on.
He is far, far from the most honest politician. He was actually pushed to resign by the British public because we were fed up of his dishonesty and irresponsibility.
