It was kind of an answer to the insipid US film Day After Tomorrow that just portrayed it as easily shrugged off. Starred Jason Robards and John Lithgow.
The irony of Threads being considered disturbing is that if you read the survivors' accounts of the Hiroshima bombing, Threads massively understates what the human impact of a nuclear attack on the UK would entail.
Threads is considered the top best realistic portrayal of what an actual nuclear fallout would be like and yes, it's disturbing because the horrors of nuclear war are disturbing. It holds back no punches. No Rambo-ish survival preppers in camo digging up barrels of hidden food stashes, no time for a leisurely drive to a hidden bunker out in the wilderness. Just people throwing up, burning, and unborn babies suffering the consequences.
@@rc1411 what are the people who gave this rating thinking about the TV movie On The Beach? I think the unrealistic part in it is the radiation being worldwide which is a very false narrative of nuclear bombs. Their radiation quantity is quite small in reality, so not much danger of radiation being worldwide all the way to Australia, especially.
It's crazy that No Child Of Mine closely parallels the life of someone incredibly close to me, just hearing about this film made me sad. It does happen in real life, which makes it 1000 times more horrific.
The more the description went on I was like "oh god this is based on a true story, isn't it" and then he said it was at the end. Poor kids. Anyone who makes it through that horrific upbringing is admirable. Anyone who doesn't make it through is understandable.
a close friend of mine took her life a week before her 16th birthday bc she went thru pretty much the exact same things as the plot of the movie. if you’re still friends with the person you speak of please please please hug them a little tighter and a little longer the next time you see them. the last time i saw her was in the hallways of our high school mid-day on a friday and she smiled that big ear to ear grin she always had on her face no matter what was going on. i trusted that smile more than i should have that day and now all i can do is bring her flowers and hug her headstone. apologies for trauma dumping in a youtube comment lmfao, but such stories don’t always have happy endings so to be able to have the opportunity to speak somewhat directly to someone who has witnessed a happy ending first hand it’s the least i can do to honor my friends memory. i hope you have an amazing day, internet stranger lol 🫶🏼
@@AmeliaLoupe No worries, it really just be how the TH-cam comment section goes sometimes lol. I'm really incredibly sorry for your loss, I can only imagine what life would be like without this person. Considering they are my wife and childhood best friend; I do worry about it often. I will absolutely hold onto that advice... I have a habit of taking things for granted and not comprehending how some things can really weigh on a person, so to be told your friend's story, one that very much could have been a reality for my wife multiple times, is helpful in perspective as much as it is heartbreaking. If it helps ease your mind at all to know, someone who went through something similar to what your friend went through, she is out of that situation. My wife is finally safe and working through everything despite all of the negative repercussions of abuse. There are survivors, and they can lead fairly happy lives. But as an outsider looking in, I would never blame your friend for a moment for her decision. I hope she's resting easy, and she is given the most peaceful run in the next life. And every time my wife is in a bad headspace, I'll think about your comment and hold her a little tighter. Hope you're doing okay, have a good day and rest of your year!
I recently got kicked out of a support home and had to move back with my unstable parents, so yeah, I kinda feel it hits hard At least they are leaving me alone, most of the time
By the way, thank you for making an iceberg without horrible childish meme editing. I keep trying to avoid them because of this trend and youtube keeps pushing them on me. Because I had seen your other content before I decided to give this a shot and you did not disappoint! I'm just kind of annoyed at myself now because my recommended section is going to be filled with icebergs for like two weeks lol
I know what you mean, I see all kinds of channels trying to follow the same ADHD formula, where every 5 seconds has some kind of meme of silly edit that only contributes to brain rot. To see a channel offer more consistency with traditional editing is a relief nowadays.
my mom showed me “megan is missing” when i was like 12/13/14 i don’t remember what age but a young teen like megan. she fuckin showed this to me to get me to stop talking to strangers online. and yeah, it worked. edit : i’m talking about one on one chats with strangers. yes this is me replying to and commenting back to strangers in the replies, but megan and josh had a weird one on one convo not in a public’s space like a tweet, comment section or even forum of some type. and unfortunately when i was younger, i can relate to this. that’s what i meant by i don’t talk to strangers…(in the dms even as a grown adult at 23 years old.) 🤣
A stranger I was talking to online showed me that movie and I took it as a threat. The film definitely scared me straight, as a fully grown adult I’m still weary about talking to people online.
@ Omg…that would be terrifying to get sent this movie from a stranger 😭 yeah, i definitely am super weirded out when a stranger wants to talk to me still as a grown adult im right there w ya lol
It's a real thing that has happened a few times from people meeting up with online friends, but keep in mind your drastically more likely to be sex trafficked by a new boyfriend, family member, or a friend of a family member. It kind of bugs me how popular that film became, people act like it's sending a hard and important message when it's almost entirely just exploitative garbage.
Maybe because there really isn't that many f*cked up movies in the world, it's not like it's found footage or smth, it's a movie so yeah @@ApostolosFilms
Well this is the 1st time one of these videos actually described what “A Serbian Film” is about… and I understand why every other iceberg glosses over it
Its disgusting. In my opinion it IS child porn. Only a sick person would make a movie inwhich a child is graped on camera. I would kever watch it. And i dont understand why anybody wants to after knowing what is in it. Very weird.
It's one of those films where I'm glad I watched it, and I get what it was going for and I am sympathetic to it, but I'm never going to watch it again. Another film that falls into that category is "Requiem For a Dream", although it's nowhere near as shocking.
It's crazy how A LOT of those movies are banned/illegal for being too close to real life, we truly cannot come up with anything worse than what we see daily
I can kinda see where films like threads are coming from. Because that came out when the threat of Nuclear Armageddon was a very real thing and people were scared shitless. Then comes along with TV movie depicting the worse possible scenario of a situation that no-one could do anything about. I can't really blame the guys on top looking at it and going "Nah, We can't show this. People are gonna freak."
What we see in person/reality (most of us), is highly censored now compared to the past, "When America was great" (insert eye roll), and earlier. I believe the censorship of death only fuels people's curiosity. We want to know what's being hidden from us (hence the popularity of the idea of storming of area 51).
More details on Junkos killers: Hiroshi Miyano was sentenced to 17 years. He argued that he deserved a lighter sentence and in exchange got 3 years added to his sentence totaling in 20 years. Jō Ogura, Shinji Minato, and Yasushi Watanabe, received 5-10 years for the murder and torture of Junko. as of 2008 all "men" are free and whereabouts are unknown. Considering ties to the Yakuza they are most likely living lives of crime under new names. Miscarriage of justice does not even come close to describe this case.
I actually came across one of the killer's twitter profile. He's a truly sick man, who's trying to reframe himself as some kind of victim of "the establishment" and routinely posts about the most wacky conspiracy theory stuff. He obviously has no remorse
At least three of the four killers continued their criminal doings, as visible in the Wikipedia article. Your comment is outdated. In 2019, Minato was sentenced to one year and six months in prison, suspended with probation for three years. Considering that he is spending time in prison I am pretty sure his whereabout is quite known :D.
the house that jack built is actually such a great movie, like you said the way it’s told is very disturbing but it’s also such a good way to tell the story. along with the obvious relation to Dante’s Inferno. it’s so well told and Matt Dillon played Jack so so so well.
That movie really surprised me. I wasn't expecting it to be so good. Yes, that specific hunting scene was the hardest to watch. Being a mother of a young boy myself, that was a struggle and I had to look away a few times. But I still rate it to be one of the best of disturbing movies. Jack is such a fascinating and terrifying character.
It is a good movie. Its a rough watch tho. When i saw matt dillion was in it. I was like how bad can it be? I was surprised by how dark it goes. As well as how good it was.
I think the frustrating part about "Protect and Survive" is that the information was _useless._ NONE of what they said was gonna actually help people if a nuclear bomb did go off.
Depends upon how close you were to the blast fireball. Fallout is survivable with enough shielding which is why they show moving doors and stuff to hide under. It blocks or at least weakens a bunch of the radiation. The first 48 hours is crucial because the most nasty isotopes' energy / half-lives fade out quickly during the first two days. There is good and well understood science behind this... not just fear mongering.
I constantly watch true crime and have done for years horrific cases but this case is the worst I've heard in my life. I'll never forget it, it's unimaginable the pain and suffering and for such an extended period how she survived for that length of time it's incomprehensible
The moment I heard the name Junko I covered my mouth out of shock. I have not seen the movie and as much as I am for movies that cover serious topics, hell I will say elephant has been more impactful on mainstream media then columbine as a whole, if it’s true that it shows the violence with disrespectful detail it makes me wonder if it’s just made for shock to get people to “open their eyes” type stuff or if there is more on the surface. Like i said films before have criticized tragedy and the government like Shin Godzilla and crucible but when someone takes it too far and makes it seem vengful, it makes the message seem so, spiteful and angry.
@@AWCMCultMovies I honestly doubt there's a way to cover her story respectfully, at least in the medium of film. I'm sure her family would prefer they be able to live without it constantly getting dredged up. As an aside, a thank you to the journals in Japan who constantly expose the new identities of the killers despite it not being allowed, so they never get peace. One of them is even on Twitter (or used to be, don't know if he still is)
I've seen all 3 films and out of the three salo is the worst of the bunch, that shit fucked me up and I would NOT rewatch. And for that to be only level three... Oh boy I wasn't prepared for the bottom
I watched Cannibal Holocaust recently - I dont really get why its got the reputation it has. Yes, it's very graphic. Yes, its promo at the time, and the near incarceration of the Director aside, it came across - to me - as an old gross out / shock & awe that just looks 'old'. Salo however - that I saw a while ago - left me safe in the knowledge that I dont want to see it again. Period. Im yet to experience A Serbian Film..
7:04 I was surprised you didn't mention that one of the actors in The Exorcist turned out to be an actual murderer. The radiographer from the hospital scene was a real rad tech named Paul Bateson who went on to be convicted of murder. He was also suspected to be involved in a series of killings in New York, but it was never proven.
Considering how many people are involved in the production of a single movie I find it easily explainable if you just compare it to other movies... Just like the Bermuda Triangle lies - statistically everything is normal there. :)
Hey so this is the best made iceberg video I’ve ever seen. Actual footage, the censorship isn’t annoying or constant, and you give the entire plot. I don’t want to actually watch most of these so I appreciate that.
I'd imagine almost all of these directors are odd balls, even people like Quentin Tarantino are extremely strange people. But I guess you would have to be weird in order to have the level of imagination required to create such violent and twisted scenes.
What's important to mention is that Lucier Valentine's films heavily exploited his partner, Ameara LaVey/Brandy Petrie, who struggled with bulimia in real life. Along with bulimia, she battled drug addiction for many years and was murdered in 2017 during a deal gone wrong. She left behind three young children. Valentine has been accused of multiple instances of sexual assault, rape, and emotional abuse, particularly targeting young fans with mental illness. He is a reprehensible human being who shouldn't be allowed within 500 yards of a video camera. Also the name "Lucifer Valentine" is dumb and pretentious.
To add salt to an injury. If what he says in his interviews is true he had unhealthy relations with his mentally ill sister Cinderella until she passed. He is pathetic
Yeah. There's a lot of things to criticize him for, but I don't think this is one of them. People make fun of him for it, but he thought it was real and actually did something about it just in case.
Know what? Yeah. Actually. Like, we poke fun at him for it but in all honestly if we found something we thought might actually be a snuff movie, we'd probably do the same. Or at least I hope we would.
The thing about Flowers of Flesh and Blood, is like…if you watch it, it’s so incredibly obvious that it’s a film. It’s edited, there are so many jump cuts, and while the video said there’s no over the top acting, there totally is from the main dude basically narrating it. So I don’t really see how Charlie could watch that and just mot notice the editing. But I mean, it’s not necessarily a bad thing that he thought it was real and was so concerned for the actress. It was the 80’s after all, so 🤷🏻♀️
@@zombieedrea That alone doesn't really mean anything, to be fair. Real things like that can have edits and cuts too. I can't judge on the acting, I haven't watched it and don't want to
Pierpaolo Pasolini, Saló' s director, got assassinated here in Italy. Most people believe he was killed because he was gay but the strange thing is that he was working on a book called "Petrolio", that investigate and expose the crimes committed by ENI (italian petroil compani) and it's executives. After he was killed one conspicuous chapter, titled "Lampi sull' ENI" disappeared from the draft of the book. Last thing in one interview Pasolini said (roughly translated sorry): "i know exactly what is happening in certain environments but i 'm lacking proof, so no one would believe me"
Ellen Burstyn wasn't injured in a "freak accident" -- Friedkin told the stuntman to pull the rope as hard as he could and it threw her across the room, despite her complaints on previous takes. He thought it would make her pain seem "real" which it was, because she was actually hurt.
What’s actually quite gross about *Megan is Missing* is Amber Perkins, the actress playing Amy, was underaged at the time of filming. Supposedly she felt compelled to do the assault scene without a parent/guardian present. She had wanted to get into acting and felt voicing any grievances would stifle her chances in the industry

Less than halfway through this, but man I love your coverage. Also, I really like the way you censor imagery. I haven't seen that black and white pixelation before, and it looks cool while conveying a serious thing being censored.
I feel like it's worth mentioning that some of the movies towards the bottom are (unfortunately) most likely niche fetish pornography rather than "horror movies" with any particular narrative intention. There's at least one genre based entirely around torturing and killing women for sexual pleasure. It sucks.
one of junko furuta's murderer is still free from what i can see. he has a twitter account, and people bully him on it. no one is letting him live it down. iirc, 2chan doxxed him a couple of tine.
I don't think this is the same person, but I know that Japan has a murderer who killed a woman, cannibalized her, got arrested for it, wrote a book about it, said he would "do it all over again" and was then released. He even has Fans. Japan is insane.
I watched a serbian film a few years ago. I kept seeing it on most disturbing horror lists and thought 'how bad can it be'. I found a copy of the uncensored version and it's haunted me to this day. How bad can it be? It's far worse than you're thinking
I had the same experience. I was looking for something "more" than the typical horror film. I kept seeing it listed on the Most Disturbing Films lists. I almost passed on it solely because of the subtitles, but I decided to give it a shot. Boy, oh boy. I wasn't expecting the intense storyline, and the ending was really hard to get through. Needless to say, I got what I came for... Disturbed.
Yeah that film fucked me up for years. Saw everyone online talking about it but never in any detail, and curiously thinking "why is this film banned? surely its not that bad..." oh how wrong was I.
Yup. Accepting they are human is the first step to the long process of solving the root cause of their actions, which will never happen, unfortunately. That's why Zero Day is one of the best films about the subject, its realistic.
I love how you're being respectful about the real cases so much oh my god. I was so tired of the childish way some people were describing and editing stuff like this. amazing video (probably channel, too) Much respect.
As an American, I always find it weird when films are described as being banned "for obvious reasons." No, the reasons are not obvious. Are they actor portrayals? Then it's freedom of speech, and therefore should not be banned. No one is forced to watch anything. If actual crimes were committed while filming, then sure, it's evidence in a crime and falls under a whole different category. But just portraying things you don't like is not an obvious reason to ban something. And no, im not a fan of these kind of movies at all, but I'd never suggest banning them. So please, someone explain to me why any movie that is simply actors acting out parts should be banned.
Gave it a six minute standing ovation? The more and more that comes out about the rich people of Hollywood, that makes sense. They be going to their Epstein and Diddy freak offs. Those are the ones we hear about. Imagine the things we don't hear about. I bet some of these films are not far off.
When I was first getting into horror, I made it my mission to know what was the worst of the worst - and boy oh boy did I regret it. Massive respect to all creators who helped me discover the iceberg without my brain being completely messed up.
I've seen A Serbian Film. It was sure something. Have also read the Mai-chan manga which was way worse than the movie, frankly. Also, I'm surprised to see even blurred video from these entries. You're the only one I've seen add any. Thank you.
Threads is actually a good movie. Yes it is disturbing and will ruin your day, but it's also real and existential terror that could still very much happen to this day. It's the only movie on this list I'd recommend due to how important it's subject matter is
Interesting fact that Protect and Survive was actually featured in the background and directly in scenes of Threads I suppose which would of made Threads seem extra terrifying at the time.
"Mai-chan's daily life" is based on a manga of the same name. It's, believe it or not, even worse. I deleted my Google history after reading the last chapter because it felt like I was going to be put into a list if I had evidence of ever reading it.
You have to have a twisted mind to write some of these movies. Most of them actually are just sick. That's just my opinion though. I kinda feel like they (whoever wrote these movies) can depict evil so realistically and dark..is because they've looked it in the eyes themselves. They're familiar with real evil on a personal basis. Because they ARE evil. -- My Opinion
I’ve watched a few different movie icebergs and this is definitely one of the better ones. Right to the point but tells all the important details. Well done mate 👍🏽
Please remember if you watch these films (Except for the mdpope shit, actually dont watch those) they can help you cope when life gets dark, but they can pull you into a worse place if you aren't careful, im not saying not to watch them, but its kinda like black magic you can find yourself appauled by what you now enjoy and its very isolating.
@ no, but I had never stopped to actually think about life afterwards. I would hear statistics (ie. X number of people would die, blah blah blah) which can be hard to conceptually apply to daily life. Threads had people just disappear and you never know what happened to them, showed the horror of living with your dead loved one’s body in the room with you, a government trying to organize something brand new while relying on people who are also scared for their families. Maybe it was my naivety, but I had never stopped to appreciate what it would be like for the survivors. It’s not that I was ever pro nuclear war, but I feel I have a fraction of a better understanding of the horror of what it would mean afterwards.
@Squatle That’s interesting. Maybe it's because I was brought up learning about the blits in school that went into extreme detail about what life was like under constant attack. I guess it's different if you're just told facts and figures.
As soon as you described the plot of Concrete, I knew exactly what case it was based off of. I started listening to the details of that story on another channel and could not even finish it. One of the most horrific, disturbing, and outright demonic things I have ever come across.
There is a movie with similar subject matter to Zero Day that I think is way more disturbing. It's called Duck! The Carbine High Massacre. It's a dark comedy that is a direct satire of the Columbine massacre that came out only 6 months after the shooting. It does not take itself seriously at all, but it is incredibly unsettling.
well no shit, he missed like hundreds of films which are deserving of being on this iceberg either because they are more disturbing or genuinely good substantive films. That being said, making a black comedy about a school shooting 6 months after is morally reprehensible. I believe they started filming 1 month after. Too soon. Terrible movie as well.
@@elaboratelymcc9038 Yeah obviously, I was just commenting about it in case there was anyone who might be interested in researching the film. It is an awful movie so I don't blame him for not including it.
The story of the set of the Exorcist being cursed was actually invented by the director for publicity. The priest who was brought it was told 'do something Catholic' and he said himself that the set wasn't haunted.
i feel like the way salo was covered is like irresponsibly missing some historical political context about why the film was made, what its about, why it was banned, who the director was and how he was murdered. this is like first paragraph on wikipedia stuff idk how u missed that or why u would choose to exclude it
Regarding Ellen Burstyn's back injury. It wasn't something gone wrong, it was pretty much intentional. After one take of the scene she told William Friedkin (the director) that the cable/rope/whatever was being pulled too hard. He responded that it had to look real. And she said "I understand, but I’m telling you I could get hurt." So he told the crew member pulling the cable, Marcel Vercoutere, who was standing right there, "OK, don't pull her so hard" but as she was walking away she 'felt them exchange a look.' Feeling someone's look is kind of ridiculous to me but considering that William Friedkin is quoted as saying about the incident “If I hadn’t let the stuntman do that with the force that he did it, she would have had to do it over & over & over again. I would rather have had one [take] that risked hurting her a little, not injuring her. Yeah, she was hurt. There’s certain things you cannot act, like that sort of hurt”, I think she's right.
Salo is based on Marquis de Sade's book 120 Days of Sodom. From what I understand, the book is FAR worse than the film based on it. EDIT: Forgot to mention that Marquis de Sade is literally where the word “Sadism” comes from.
I've read the book. And yes, it is insanely grotesque. Any of his books are hard reads. I started getting interested in him after watching Quills. I study criminal behavior, if he was alive still, I would definitely want to talk to him to find the source of his criminality.
I don't dare to watch the movie, but from the synopsis provided here, seems like it deals with the abuse of children by elites and establishment figures. Kind of explains why Pasolini may have been unalived prematurely, and another reason why it's so heavily banned (in addition to the snuff, of course).
I'm surprised you didn't mention: the poughkeepsie tapes (2007), though am not sure if it's movie or not, seemed quite real like Cannibal Holocaust. I remember hearing about it on youtube first.
@ Iv seen many banned lists. And watched a few of these but it usually peaks with sf and 120days of Sodom. There’s a bunch on here I haven’t seen on the sea of banned lists
@@LiveRight84 No, but a lot of people know about films like this and it's refreshing to see a list that contains a few they HAVEN'T heard of. Is the Spider-man trilogy your baseline for movies people know about?
The part according to the Excorcist is an interesting topic of cognitive psychology- and marketing. When you're getting older it's not just you aging, but also the people in your family, in your circle of friends and at work. With this the harsh reality of someone getting into a critical medical condition or facing death is becoming more and more a possibility as well. They might have really believed that all these accidents had something to do with their current project, but it might also be the truth that they just wanted to create a certain atmosphere surrounding their movie for a viral PR hype.
I like that you made a list with timestamps in the description. I have seen many of these movies and don't need to see those parts of your video but do want to see what you say about movies I have not seen yet. Good recommendation list. :) :) :)
Awesome list... But the number one placement of a film you really forgot would be "Traces of Death". It was a spin-off of Faces of Death as you mentioned... Except all of it was real death of people and creatures. 1993 VHS tape put together of videos. Narrated by a Damion Fox. A woman was sicked by it a few years after its release that she thought to keep the tape she rented so that unsuspected children would not accidentally stumble upon it at a VHS store back in 1997... I watched it and it made a 28 year last year old me even quite a bit shocked and not allot ever shocks me.
I love Hollywood of the 70s😂😅 Making a bed that violently thrashes the actor and the actor gets injured - GHOSTS. Making an actor get thrown against the wall with a bungee cord instead of hiring a stuntman and the actor again suffering an injury - GHOSTS! Not having decent fire safety procedures on the set and the set burning down... Well that's DEFINITELY GHOSTS!!!
no, it's the obsession of film directors who endlessly search for their own vision of the perfect shot, true realism without reality. It's a drug & also an abuse of their directorial power.
Eugh, I fucking forgot about Megan is Missing. I watched that on recommendation of a female friend who likes obscure media. Blocked it out of my head. She only told me it was a story about kidnapping from an online meeting. She left out all the fucking details at the end. I was expecting the police to turn up before it went as far as it did, but nope. Just left me feeling cold and sick inside. Fuck that.
Im suprised with all the silent films on the iceberg the one about noahs ark wasnt on here. From memory they pretty much recreated the flood but people were actually swept up by the water, died and the scenes were still used.
I actually watched everything here. I would never imagine myself watching any of these films as I know how disturbed my mind would be after. It felt like seeing someone with a torch guiding and touring us on the right way to go in approaching the films. Great vid man. Subbed!
watching Salo in my mid 20s seriously messed me up for a while, even now when I think about it, it has an effect. Mostly because it was a movie where there is no final judgment passed upon the people responsible of the event. They do what they want, shit and all, and then they keep living.
Raymond Briggs did an amazing "parody" of 'Protect and Survive'. It's called 'When The Wind Blows' and was coupled with the Bowie music video of rhe aame name. It's worse than 'Threads' IMO. t's animated by the guy that did 'The Snowman' in the same style. The elderly couple (a veteran of WW1/2 and his wife) have utrer faith in the advice....and it is BLEAK. Never watched anything so utterly British in my life. It hurt. The illustrated novel (not a "comic" 😬) is superb too. Not fun....but brilliant.
01:05 Fact: I had NO idea that the 30 minutes I spent busting a gut laughing at South Park was actually spent busting a gut laughing at the idea of humans turning other humans into human centipedes. "Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo......cuttle fish coming......"
'Megan is Missing' is neither disturbing nor a good movie. It's just god awful all around made by an extremely out of touch and arrogant director. Honestly embarrassing that it's on this list, especially at Layer 2.
Unfortunately, some people don't realize how important women are, and how important humanity in general is. Women are responsible for our own existence and keeping the human race alive, and several of their jobs involve caring for others. They really don't get enough credit.
Omg!! This is the first time ever seen anyone talk about Zero Day. It was so good and such a real depiction of teenage life. I think it came closer than any other fictional film in showing what the Columbine killers were probably really like. I still constantly search for it to see it again but it is like it is gone from the Earth I honestly did not see this film as disturbing. It was simply realistic. If anyone gets the chance they should see it.
I'm just gonna give comfort where it's due, you're very likely not going to get kidnapped and killed unless you make an insane enemy, BUT you do have to keep in mind, if your gut feeling tells you that someone is dangerous, you should listen to it and just don't take any risks, now keep in mind I don't mean like report the guy to the police or be rude to him just because your *gut feeling* tells you, I simply mean that if your gut feeling tells you someone is dangerous, just don't take any risks with them.
Protect and Survive is actually directly referenced in the film "When the Wind Blows". If you know how that film (and the book it is based on) goes, then you'll know just how useless the advice given in Protect and Survive truly was.

@Asheeera7 i'm a massive horror/faux-crime fan and even i refuse to watch it
It's one of those films where I'm glad I watched it, and I get what it was going for and I am sympathetic to it, but I'm never going to watch it again. Another film that falls into that category is "Requiem For a Dream", although it's nowhere near as shocking.
It's crazy how A LOT of those movies are banned/illegal for being too close to real life, we truly cannot come up with anything worse than what we see daily
Exactly. Any number of gore sites will show you real, actual death. Accidents, murder, suicide, etc. real life in other words….how ironic…
@link122771 I love watching gore and gore sites, and I'm often harshly judged due that. I'm just interested in reality.
@@Johnny-tzerI know that feel bro.
More details on Junkos killers:
Hiroshi Miyano was sentenced to 17 years.

The ending of that film thoroughly destroyed me.

I'm gonna watch it but prob skip the sniper scene. Thanks for the recommendation
I thought that was the point of it, to persuade and lie to the public to stop them panicking and doing something anti government?
Just duck and cover, man.
Nothing will help anyone except not being exposed like being in an underground bunker or no where near the blast or in range of the fallout.
EXACTLY!
Once I heard the words "Concrete" and "group of teens", I whispered "Oh no..." Poor Junko. This is a very infamous story.
I constantly watch true crime and have done for years horrific cases but this case is the worst I've heard in my life. I'll never forget it, it's unimaginable the pain and suffering and for such an extended period how she survived for that length of time it's incomprehensible
And it's actually just one of 3 Japanese films about the case, none of them particularly respectful.
What's more sickening is her murderers got away scott free because they were minors at the time and also involved with yakuza

When I saw Cannibal Holocaust, Salo, and A Serbian Film in LEVEL 3 I knew this was gonna be a wild one.
I will never see a Serbian film. Director is one sick individual to come up with the SA of a new born baby scene.
Slaughter Vomit Dolls is just an excuse for the director to make a movie out of his vomit fetish. The dude is seriously a weirdo.
Lucifer also has a movie where he exploits drug addicts. He really has no soul.
Kinda evil to be a drug addict and to give birth to 3 babies!
"Lucifer Valentine" sounds like something directly out of a Twilight fanfic.
It IS some edge lord sh*t lol
Well kudos to Charlie Sheen for being like "hey did this guy actually torture and murder a woman??" and asking someone to look into it.

“Glamorized by being Humanized” is a wild statement in regards to teenagers.
Yup. Accepting they are human is the first step to the long process of solving the root cause of their actions, which will never happen, unfortunately. That's why Zero Day is one of the best films about the subject, its realistic.
Runaway Train (1985):
- "You're an animal!"

Who do they think commits crimes? We can call them monsters figuratively, but at the end of the day they are the exact same thing as we are.

I totally agree and your comment was a breath of fresh air. Thank you.

Threads is what Oppenheimer should have been. It was unlike anything I've seen before, it truly made me rethink nuclear war
Genuine question. Were you pro-nuclear was before it?
@ no, but I had never stopped to actually think about life afterwards. I would hear statistics (ie. X number of people would die, blah blah blah) which can be hard to conceptually apply to daily life. Threads had people just disappear and you never know what happened to them, showed the horror of living with your dead loved one’s body in the room with you, a government trying to organize something brand new while relying on people who are also scared for their families.
Maybe it was my naivety, but I had never stopped to appreciate what it would be like for the survivors.

And she said "I understand, but I’m telling you I could get hurt." So he told the crew member pulling the cable, Marcel Vercoutere, who was standing right there, "OK, don't pull her so hard" but as she was walking away she 'felt them exchange a look.'
Feeling someone's look is kind of ridiculous to me but considering that William Friedkin is quoted as saying about the incident “If I hadn’t let the stuntman do that with the force that he did it, she would have had to do it over & over & over again. I would rather have had one [take] that risked hurting her a little, not injuring her. Yeah, she was hurt. There’s certain things you cannot act, like that sort of hurt”, I think she's right.
My God this is so hard to get through. Just listening to the details of some of these films.
Very good job! Noticed you added splashes in between the entries. Very good addition, and a great thematic selection
Threads legitimately scared me worse than any other movie. I want to watch it again because of how good it was, but still can't bring myself to do it.
Salo is based on Marquis de Sade's book 120 Days of Sodom. From what I understand, the book is FAR worse than the film based on it.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that Marquis de Sade is literally where the word “Sadism” comes from.
its insane, seriously.
The book is worse yes but seeing something on the screen internalizes it heavier than written word imo.
Terrifying examples of corruption.
What we know as salo is an incomplete work. Not all of it was recovered from the bastille. There was more.
Kind of explains why Pasolini may have been unalived prematurely, and another reason why it's so heavily banned (in addition to the snuff, of course).
the pronunciation of newfoundland 😭
bro makes a whole ass iceberg but can't be bothered to learn how to pronounce Newfoundland or Cannes or Max Von Sydow 🤔
new FOUND land
No one cares about newfies
I'm surprised you didn't mention: the poughkeepsie tapes (2007), though am not sure if it's movie or not, seemed quite real like Cannibal Holocaust. I remember hearing about it on youtube first.
Well fuck a list with some things I haven’t heard of. You earned this follow
It’s an illegal list. What would you think gonna be? Spiderman trilogy 😂
They might have really believed that all these accidents had something to do with their current project, but it might also be the truth that they just wanted to create a certain atmosphere surrounding their movie for a viral PR hype.
on to that, the one room not being affected by the fire sounds like it was just closed, and so the fire couldn't get in.
25:26 Who knew that a director who tried to make a movie preaching about mortality would turn out to be a completely immoral person. How ironic.
megan is missing is the WORST thing that netflix EVER had on its library.
Really is . That shit fucked me up for a while back then
What about Cuties?
I'd say that shit was arguably even worse
@@MikoMango23 Forgot about that . I never watched it tho . Just couldn't bring myself to watch
@@xxhitmanxx6097 good (neither have I just heard how awful that shit was)
@@MikoMango23 yea I saw the trailer and that's enough
It really crazy that a literal body horror movie like human centipede is least disturbing than a Looney Tunes' banned cartoon that was too offensive
Also known as the "Ultimate WORST Date Night Movie Iceberg"
I knew I was in for a crazy video when you started talking about Human Centipede FIRST 😭
my mom made me watch megan is missing back in 2012 to teach me about internet safety LOL 😭 it did help tho
Oy! If "Human Centipede" is the tip of the iceberg, I have only myself to blame for continuing to watch because I know what that film is about.
I like that you made a list with timestamps in the description. I have seen many of these movies and don't need to see those parts of your video but do want to see what you say about movies I have not seen yet. Good recommendation list. :) :) :)
Additionally, in the Exorcist one of the background extras, a radiologist tech, was later convinced of murder
convinced or convicted?
He was a serial killer and never convicted because he died
@ oops 😂
Name please? This is new information to me. Wonder if possessed! @@michelrood2966
I watched it and it made a 28 year last year old me even quite a bit shocked and not allot ever shocks me.
bruh not megan is missing
Bro, like, that made me so uncomfortable.
@ watch YMS’s review of it from years ago
The movie that pretends to be based on real events, but anyone with a brain can see its all bullcrap
@@somethingmaybe3858lol that movie sucks balls
My reply was deleted ofc, TH-cam hates me for some reason. But yeah, Megan is Missing is a pile of crap
The Junko Furuta story is absolutely horrific and makes me so incredibly sad whenever I think of it. I can not bear to think.
As for the ones based on a true story, people crying about having to watch a movie yet think of those who had to live through the story it is based on
Wonderful narration and voice for it . Great video all around !
Friedkin was just an irresponsible director lol
@@oops6876 You're not kidding. He slapped one of the actors to get a reaction.
To build on what oops said Friedkin even fired off live rounds from a pistol on the set to "scare" them.
no, it's the obsession of film directors who endlessly search for their own vision of the perfect shot, true realism without reality. It's a drug & also an abuse of their directorial power.
Just cuz you can do something doesn't mean you should. Just because the violence isn't actually real, doesnt mean its not demeaning toward women.
or men
Lol. Which movie are you referring to. That covers 90% of this iceberg.
Fuck that.
08:40 that stunt wasn't an accident, that was the crew being abusive
Im suprised with all the silent films on the iceberg the one about noahs ark wasnt on here. From memory they pretty much recreated the flood but people were actually swept up by the water, died and the scenes were still used.
I actually watched everything here. I would never imagine myself watching any of these films as I know how disturbed my mind would be after. It felt like seeing someone with a torch guiding and touring us on the right way to go in approaching the films. Great vid man. Subbed!
Oh wow, protect and survive is a real version of local 58’s contingency plan.
watching Salo in my mid 20s seriously messed me up for a while, even now when I think about it, it has an effect.
I agree I still vividly remember watching that when I was a kid, with that and watership down, no wonder my generation is a bit warped.
That's one hell of a Halloween Movie Marathon
01:05 Fact: I had NO idea that the 30 minutes I spent busting a gut laughing at South Park was actually spent busting a gut laughing at the idea of humans turning other humans into human centipedes.
"Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo......cuttle fish coming......"
'Megan is Missing' is neither disturbing nor a good movie. It's just god awful all around made by an extremely out of touch and arrogant director. Honestly embarrassing that it's on this list, especially at Layer 2.
Watch out, we got a badass over here! 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
You thinking dude (or anyone else, for that matter) cares about what you think? THAT'S embarrassing.
damn some people just really love to make movies about women being brutally tortured huh
Oh, do they ever.
Unfortunately, some people don't realize how important women are, and how important humanity in general is. Women are responsible for our own existence and keeping the human race alive, and several of their jobs involve caring for others. They really don't get enough credit.
@@kingpluto555😂
Omg!! This is the first time ever seen anyone talk about Zero Day. It was so good and such a real depiction of teenage life. I think it came closer than any other fictional film in showing what the Columbine killers were probably really like. I still constantly search for it to see it again but it is like it is gone from the Earth
I honestly did not see this film as disturbing. It was simply realistic. If anyone gets the chance they should see it.
The House That Jack Built had so much suspense and anxiety throughout. Absolutely fantastic storytelling, not just horror and gore for the sake of it.
I remember watching cannibal holocaust in my college years and it traumatized me so much i wasnt able to eat regularly for months and i lost so much weight.
I downloaded it from the original Napster & never watched it again, & I'm now 61. Knowing that the animals were actually killed traumatized me.
